Hyperformance Eyewear Reviews (%countItem)

On November 2, 2018, I went to Hyperformance Eyewear to purchase lenses for my frames. I heard of this store when the owner, ***, gave me a card at *** while I was shopping for groceries. I've never met *** before that moment. The name of the store on the card appealed to me.

Around 5 pm I went to ***'s store to buy replacement lenses for my glasses. The door was locked but I could see ***. He opened the door. The lights were dim, and it was uncomfortable, and I told him that this darkness is awkward. He turned on more lights.

I told *** what I was looking for, so we sat at the desk. No need to look for frames because I just want to replace my lenses. He took my glasses and the first comment he made was how 'heavy? my glasses are. He was trying to be jovial and was making fun of my glasses. He got up, went and got a pair of glasses and said, 'Try this on'. I said, 'No, I don't want new frames'. 'Try it on anyways'. I put them on and he commented on how 'good? the frames looked on me. I could not really see clearly through the display lenses, so I took his word.

Long story short, he talked me into buying new frames and the whole package, tint, anti-reflective coating, blue light cancelling coating, and the 'best widest? progressive lenses. He's a good sales person.

I told him I never had tint before, so I was concerned about that and I may not like it. He said they can take the tint out if I don't like them.

I paid $890 for the new progressive lenses with new frames, with tint, anti-glare and anti-reflective coating, and blue light cancelling coating, and left the store.

On November 15th, *** called and said my new glasses are in. I called him and told him I would be there at 3:40 to pick up the glasses but I would be in and out as I have to get to an appointment with my son. I got there at 3:40 sharp.

I put on the new glasses and I immediately did not like the tint and told him so. He said I needed to wear it see if I like the tint. He misunderstood me. It was not looking through the tint that I did not like. It was how they looked on my face. I did not like it at all. It makes my face look purple. I did like how I could see the computer screen well. I was in a hurry, so I left after a few minutes.

I got home later and saw how I really looked in the new glasses and I absolutely did not like the tint that never goes away completely. My face looks purple! The shape of the glasses I do not like at all on my face. It does not suit my face to my liking. I do not feel good in the glasses.

I wore my new glasses to work the next day. A colleague noted how dark the lenses are and that they are purple. I agreed. She also commented that I look like I have a blackeye when I tilt my head down. I certainly do not want to wear glasses that makes me look like I have a black eye.

I also noticed that my peripheral vision was quite blurry on both lenses. That is not good. The lenses also have a lot of reflective glare. I can see my eyes and cheeks reflecting back. Very distracting. I did like how the lenses made everything look clear on the computer when I was doing my work. I liked the blue light cancelling coating for working on the computer. But I have other serious concerns.

I called *** at noon on Friday November 16th to let him know my concerns. I started with the pros. I figure it's always good to start any conversation with positives. *** like the pros I listed. I like the lenses when I work on the computer. It is clear when I am looking straight ahead.

I've been wearing progressive glass for years now. This is my fourth pair. I have experience with wearing progressive lenses.

*** listened to the pros I listed about my new glasses and that was good. I started telling *** about the cons and he did not let me get past my 1st out of a few concerns that I am experiencing with the glasses. I told him about the tint and how it makes me look and told him what my colleague to said to me.

*** immediately interrupted me and started defending the glasses, and his 35 years of experience. I was not in any way questioning his experience. I was talking about my experience with these glasses. *** took it personal instead of just listening to me. He would not let me finish and started arguing with me on the phone. I was trying really hard to get back to my experience with glasses and he absolutely refused to listen to what I was experiencing with these new glasses. He kept telling me that I was taking other people's opinion over the health of my eyes and that the tint on lenses are good for my eyes. That they protect my eyes. ***. ***. He went on and on and totally missing my point of how 'I? do not like the way the tint looks on my face. He insisted that I continue to wear the tinted glasses for 2 weeks and I may like them later. I could not get a word in ***.

***

On Saturday November 17, 2018, I asked my husband to come with me to ***'s store because I am afraid of this man. I proceeded to explain to *** what I did not get a chance to do over the phone on Friday because *** kept interrupting. He immediately interrupted me again on Saturday at his store. My husband had to ask him to let me finish. I proceeded and listed the rest of the concerns I was experiencing with the glasses. Then he said I was making all this up. I could not believe what I was hearing!

Refund I need to return the glasses to Hyperformance Eyewear and get a full refund. I am not 100% satisfied with the glasses and the service.

Hyperformance Eyewear Response • Dec 07, 2018

November 2:

A lady identifying herself as *** appeared at my downtown location and I met her at the door of my shop. It appeared that she was in the market for optical services. We sat down at the desk in the store and asked her about the comfort of her current pair of glasses and she said that she felt they were a little heavy. I then asked for what she did for a living and if she spent a lot of time in front of a computer. She identified that she did. About 5-6 hours a day. I then asked her if she ever heard the concerns of high frequency blue light and she replied that she never heard of this before. Then I showed her the high frequency blue light brochure that I carry at the store and it clearly indicated that high frequency blue light could affect her sleep patterns. She agreed that she hasn't had the best sleep and that high hours in front of a screen could be contributing to this. And in the brochure it explains that HFBL (High Frequency Blue Light) can lead to cataracts and macular degeneration. And that all exposure from laptops, monitors, high definition televisions, tablets, cellphones, new florescence lighting and led lighting is all transmitting this HFBL. And then showed *** the sample that I have that blocks out the HFBL from the monitor in store and she was quite impressed how much clearer and sharper the image on the screen. I then asked her is she worked under fluorescent lights and she said that she did and that the lights at work bothered her a bit. I then asked her if she was light sensitive to the sun. She replied that she felt some what light sensitive. I then proceeded to show her that there are two types of transitions, the regular transition which some people say doesn't go dark enough and doesn't change behind the windshield of a car. But I explained to her that there is a newer version of the transition called extra active transition which goes darker than the regular transition and also darkens inside the car. She was quite impressed. I told her that there is a slight tint to the lenses in the extra active transition which a lot of people who work under fluorescent lighting find it a lot easier on the eyes. I told her there are two options I would suggest that she get on her new set of lenses. Then we looked at the titanium frames that we carry here at Hyperformance Eyewear and I proceeded to show her the nicest titanium ladies frame that we carry. Which was similar in color to the current frame she wore in to the store. I assumed that with the weight of the glasses she came in wearing that this would be a nice upgrade from what she had. She tried it on and agreed that it was the lightest frame that she had ever tried. Explained to her a progressive lenses in that frame would work really well with progressive lenses because of the depth of it. Told her that the frame was on a 20% discount and she was quite happy that it was on sale. She really liked the frame that we were looking at. The frame on sale was $368.00 and she was very happy with that. Her lenses were suppose to be $617.00. Which came to $985.00. She said that she could only afford $800.00 for a new pair of glasses. So that was $185.00 more that she said she could afford. I gave her an additional $95.00 off the price to meet her half way on the difference of the cost. This was on top of the frame that was already on sale. The reason I gave her the extra discount was I felt it would help her with ending up with a really well built pair of glasses and that she could use the extra break; because she was indicating that she had a budget of $800.00. She was quite happy at the price we arrived that. She was really happy what she was going to be able to get for $890.00. Regular price was $985.00 after the discount on the frame. She was very happy and very excited and wanted to pay by debit. I adjusted the frame then did the progressive measure on her for her lenses. And indicated that she might have more reading area than she did before on her last pair of glasses. Then took her P.D. Measurement. At that point she was very happy with what she had just purchased. I indicated to her that these were the highest quality lenses for maximum eye protection and that they are the same lenses as what I wear and wearing right now. We looked at my glasses together and told her that these were the lenses that we have been speaking about. I then exposed my glasses to my U.V. Light and made my glasses transition fully exposed. And she was quite impressed how dark they went and was quite excited that she would have all of that in one pair of glasses. We got up from the desk I thanked her for her business indicated it would be a week or a week and a half for the glasses to be made. And *** was really happy when she left.

November 15:

The glasses came back from the lab. I did an inspection on the glasses and was really pleased with the work from the lab. I called *** and we spoke. She told me she would be in between 3:30pm and 4:00pm that day.

She came in the store around the time she said she would show up. I got her glasses, fit them on her. She said that everything was nice and clear. I then indicated that I wanted to see how the progressive lenses were working. I then indicated my reading card above the top part of her glasses. She indicated that it was blurry. I told her that it was completely normal out of the top. I then took the reading card down to a reading height and she said everything was nice and clear. I indicated to her that new progressive lenses will take two or three days to get comfortable completely with them wearing them full time. She agreed and felt quite comfortable wearing them. We even walked to the front windows of the store and looked down the street. She agreed how well she could see looking down the street and that everything was nice and clear. She was very excited and happy that she could see so well. She even wore the glasses out of the store when she went home.

November 16:

*** called me and said that she could see fine with her glasses. But that a lady at work asked her if she had a black eye. She told me that she couldn't go through with the idea of people asking her if she had a black eye and asked if the transition could be taken out of the lenses. I said that the company would but that she should try the lenses out for a couple of weeks to make sure that was what she wanted. She was quite upset that I couldnt do it right away. So upset that she ended up hanging the phone up on me.

November17:

*** and her husband showed up at the store. I don't remember exactly at what time. *** was wearing her old glasses when she came to the store. She indicated that she was not happy with the glasses and wanted her money back. I asked her why she wanted to return her glasses and wanted her money back. She said that she wasn't happy that I told her I couldn't remove the transition right away. She then indicated to me that the lenses were blurry on the sides and the bottom of the lenses. I indicated to her and asked weather there was a prescription change. She said she wasn't sure. She then indicated again that she wanted her money back. I said to her that I made the glasses to her doctors prescription and that sometimes if the glasses aren't fitting right you might have some of the issues that she was describing. I then asked her if she would put the new glasses on and she refused. She wouldn't even take the glasses out of her purse. She then indicated that she had got glasses from *** and had issues with the lenses and that they refunded her money back. And that she had also had issues at *** with her glasses and lenses and returned them. She said she couldn't understand that I wasn't able to refund her. She indicated again that she wanted her money back. And I mentioned to her that there was nothing wrong with the glasses and that they were made to the prescription from her doctor. And that if there was anything wrong with them to go see her Optometrist. She then indicated that she wanted to call the police and started to dial the Saskatoon police on her cell phone. I asked her not to and that there was no police emergency. Which by account is what the police told her when she called. And the police told her that they could not help her with getting her money back. *** said if I did not do what she asked that she would give me a bad review and try to rune my business reputation. I asked them to leave. The reason I asked them to leave was because there was no more talking about the glasses at that point. All she could say was that she wanted her money back. They left.

Later that day I tried calling her. She would not answer. The reason I called was I wanted to find out her optometrists name and get a history of her prescriptions, and find out why she might be noticing a bit of blurriness on the bottom of her glasses. She answered and reluctantly gave me her optometrists name. And indicated that I was somehow going to find out some personal information about her. I was only asking her to find out more information about why it was blurry on the bottom. So I finally got a hold of her optometrist and asked them to send over the last three prescriptions, two old ones and the new one that she brought in to me. And also asked if they had ever given *** her money back on a set of glasses. They indicated she had never been given a refund but that she had a change in prescription and that they had changed her lenses for her at no charge. At that point I wanted to call *** to find out if they had ever given her money back. I called them and they said that she had bought two pair from there and they had never given her money back at any time. I thought that it was strange that she said these companies gave her money back when they had never given her any refund at all. And this was the whole reason that she felt that I was not being reasonable for not giving her money back.

When I compared the last prescription to the new one, I noticed there was a increased add power on the prescription and that was likely the reason she was seeing a little blurry on the bottom when compared to her old glasses. I then gave *** a call again to inform her of the updated information that I had found. When I called her I informed her about the prescription change and that the add power had increased on her new prescription and that it was likely why she was seeing a little blurry on the bottom of her new lenses, as compared to her old glasses. She asked again if I would give her money back, I said No. She then hung the phone up.

***. I am not 100% satisfied with the service *** provided. The way he handled my concerns was unprofessional. He advertises 100% satisfaction guarantee. ***. I am still requesting a complete refund.

Hyperformance Eyewear Response • Jan 11, 2019

The Transition manufacture will take out the transition and make new lenses if you do not like the transitions but they will not refund the money for the transitions but I cannot get her to put on her glasses in my shop to check to see how the glasses are fitting but when she left my office wearing her new glasses when she picked them up and we checked her distance vision and also checked how she was reading with the glasses before she left the office told me her vision was fine when she left the office for the first time getting the glasses she was very happy with the glasses.
