I-D Electric Company

The electrician mistakenly cut the power wire to our lift pump, resulting in sewage flooding my basement. The company will not take responsibility.
The work order that I have from them is dated 8-14-12. This is what it says:

"Service call to outlets in family room not working" (he meant dining room, as evidenced by the tables and chairs in the room and that it is next to the kitchen)

"*Troubleshoot circuit and located a short on outside wiring going to post light in front yard."

"-Disconnected power to post light."

The wire he found and disconnected has been demonstrated by a licensed and bonded plumber, and by I-D Electric, as actually having been the power wire for the lift pump that takes the waste water and sewage from our house to the city sewer line.

This is a documented mistake that resulted in the lift pump not working for four months, causing serious backup in the lift pump hole and blockage in the lift pump, and finally, gray water flooding into out basement. We have the original work order from I-D Electric and two invoices from our emergency plumber, along with an estimate for work that needs to be done to restore our downstairs.

I-D Electric's manager, [redacted], is stonewalling and delaying. He claims the pump was already bad. He has no way of knowing this, demonstrating this, or coming anywhere close to proving it. If it had been bad and if it being bad had been the source of our electrical issues, that should have been discovered by the professional, licensed, bonded electrician who came to our house.

Instead he made a mistake, cut power to the lift pump in the mistaken belief that it was our lamp, did not confirm he had done the right thing, and left us to, four months later, have our downstairs flooded.

[redacted], of I-D Electric, claims that the technician didn't know we had a lift pump and that this lack of knowledge makes it not their fault at all.

In summary, we have proof of a mistake that I-D Electric has agreed was a mistake, and a lack of knowledge being used as material to stonewall us and keep I-D Electric from having to pay the near $5000 bill required to restore our home and lift pump to proper functioning and livable shape.

Egregious and provable malfeasance. My family can't afford this, and while I started this situation with sympathy for I-D Electric, for the financial hit this might be despite their being bonded and insured, my sympathy is gone.

To top it all off, this began on the Saturday three days before Christmas. It took I-D electric 3 days to respond to my calls and now they say that, now that they have the documents needed, we have to wait until Wednesday, January 2, to hear back from them. All while our downstairs reeks and we have ruined carpet.
