I Would Rather Be Baking

Review: I am super displeased with I Would Rather Baking Co. (IWRBB) I used them for my wedding and it was a HUGE mistake! I purchased a two tier wedding cake and a sheet cake on the side in order to make sure I had enough cake for all my guests. My event was on a naval base that had strict protocol to enter the base. I informed IWRBB of this protocol, but they refused to follow it. (It requires a background check with social security numbers, birthdays, address, etc of all employees who will be involved in the delivery process). They told me they have done weddings at the location before and there is a service entrance that they always use. I asked the on-base catering manager about this, and she informed me that it used to be the case but protocol had changed and that a same day pass could be issued for a immediate clearance but it could take up to an hour. I informed IWRBB of this change and they insisted on doing the same day clearance, assuring me that they could "talk their way on base." The day of the wedding comes and guess what? They were not allowed on base! It took them over an hour, and she calls me right when I'm about to walk down the aisle for my ceremony. The last thing I want to deal with at that time is my cake being delivered. She acted as if it was my fault she was unable to get a hold of my catering manager. The limo driver (who submitted his information and got security clearance like all my other vendors) listened to my dilemma and offered to pick up my cake from them and drive it on the base. So, that's exactly what he did. Unfortunately, my cake suffered. It looked good on the outside, because the fondant frosting is pretty tacky and holds up well, but inside it was a mushy mess and completely inedible. I wasn't too worried, because I still had the sheet cake that was just like the tier cake right? Wrong! The sheet cake was different frosting and filling and not what I ordered at all. I tried to get a partial refund an for a $323 cake, she offered me $25. Insulting.Desired Settlement: Initially, I would have been happy with half of my money back. However, now, after insulting me (saying I'm "lucky she even left my cake with the driver" and sarcastically saying "of course you'd like compensation" as if I am cheap and trying to get by with something) not taking responsibility for her mistakes, and then proceeding to hang up the phone on me. I would like a full refund of $322.50 I did not get what I had paid for, and IWRBB customer service was rude and terrible.
