I purchased two tickets to see my niece perform with Jerome Bel a well-known French choreographer. I purchased my tickets online February 16th to attend the Saturday Feb XX X:XXpm performance only to be denied entry by the museum! Why? I arrived 20 minutes late due to issues beyond my control and the performance had started. I understood that I could not enter during the performance pieces but the attendant at the museum entrance then stated ? no we have
A strict policy of not allowing anyone in after the performance starts not even between pieces.? Then she stated ? also we had a problem with standing room only so we can't allow you to go up!? I asked her soooo no one can come out not even to use the bathroom'? And she stated ? no not unless there is a fire !?
Now there are so many issues with this- first they over sold this performance and therefore created a situation where people with tickets could not even attend. There should have been two 'empty? seats because I purchased two seats! No where on the ticket does it state that the ticket holder will not be allowed entry if they are late for any reason. On the ticket it states first come first served ; so purchasing a ticket does not secure you a space! This is their fundraising strategy. It is wrong to over book a performance and then not allow someone with a ticket entry.
The cost of the tickets were not the issue- I was refused the opportunity to see my niece perform. I cannot get that back. The arts are not funded as they should be so I guess now they have resorted to overbooking and then keeping your money to fund more performances that they overbook - this is their fundraising strategy!

Other (requires explanation) Since there is no option for a refund and Modifications to policy, I should be refunded because I did not get the service I paid for. Additionally - ICAMiami should correct their ticketing policy and be transparent. The consumer should know that purchasing a ticket does not guarantee entrance to the performance of program , and stop overbooking which requires implementing procedures to track ticket sales and align with maximum occupancy for the room that the performance is being held in.
ICA Miami is a museum committed to free and open public access. Admission to the museum is free year round. From time to time, for certain performances and events we charge a fee in order to reserve seats which are limited in number. We do not over book for such performances and events and have never done so. For the event in question, Ms. did reserve two seats. The seats were available at the start of the performance and for the duration of the performance. However, in consideration of the performers and in consultation with the dance company, we had a strict policy which prohibited entry to the performance after the performance commenced. Ms. arrived after the start of the performance and as such, she was unable to be admitted to the performance. As a gesture of goodwill, we have refunded Ms. the cost of the tickets she purchased.
