Iceberg Mechanical Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: I am to complain about the failure of a hvac company to fulfil the terms of a contract, unautherized removal of my property, and to attempt to overcharge and/or comit fraud. This issue has been pending two years now and it remains unresolved.

In June 2011 I contracted with Iceberg Mechanical to do three things: (1) Install new Mitsubishi Mr. Slim split-air ac system; (2) complete installation of another Mr. Slim system that was not completed by another contractor; and (3) to fix a Mr. slim system that was already installed but 2 of the 3 inside ac units were no longer working. I write in relation to (3).

A mechanic from Iceberg Mechanical attempted to diagnose the problem with the 2 non-functioning ac units. He suggested that all the circuit boards in both non-functioning units in addition to the outside compressor be replaced. Under the contract I was to be charged only for actual cost of the items (circui boards) at cost to Iceberg Mechanical. Unfortunately, Iceberg Mechanical never came back to my home to complete the work, even though I paid the contract price in full. Even worse, I finally gave up waiting for Iceberg to come back so last week I proceeded to get the system fixed by myself. It turned out there was nothing wrong with the circuit boards that were in the outside compressor unit (they work just fine) and, to my suprise, the circuit boards on the non-functioning inside units had been removed by Iceberg Mechanical without my knowledge (so I have no way of knowing if there was anything wrong with those circuit boards). Even worse, the quote for the circuit boards that Iceberg Mechanical wanted to charge me (suposedly at cost to them) was more than double than the actual cost would have been. Clearly this was a scam to try to make extra money from me. All last year I attempted to get Iceberg Mechanical to return to finish their contracted work. Last week after the discovery that they had removed circuit boards without my permission, I called and left messages but I have received no call back. I still have emails, contract and quote for circuit boards as evidence.

Thank your for your consideration.Desired Settlement: I'd like the circuit boards that the company removed back and I'd like a refund of the contract price I paid commensurate to the ammounts Iceberg would customerily charge for labour to fix a Mr. Slim dictless system.

Response:

[redacted],

Customer contracted us in June 2011 to install new Mitsubishi AC split system as well as an existing Mitsubishi AC split system that was not completed by another HVAC contractor. There was also another older Mitsubishi system that was not operating at all so we included troubleshooting as part of our initial proposal however any parts that may be needed to be paid by customer. We did not remove any circuit boards as customer states. We sent him parts quote with freight for the parts we believed where needed at the time. We were also going to ordered few additional parts just in case however if they weren't needed he wouldn't have been charged for them upon completion. Customer was never charge for these parts nor the labor to install them as he states. He left me a voice message on my cell phone last week however I was away on training seminar so I couldn't return his call immediately. He could have contacted our office direct if he wanted to proceed with ordering the quoted parts. He wasn't going to be charged for labor to install these new parts we were just going to put them in for him while the technician was there performing the main scope of work. This is two years ago why has he waited this long? Not sure where he comes up with us refunding him $1,000.00?

Sincerely,

[redacted] President
