We have spoken to him and have reprimanded for his professionalism.  We will not make any excuses for him. I would like to further explain the sitting situation [redacted] described in her complaint. All hibachi restaurants, whether it's us or any Hibachi restaurant anywhere, sit their tables to the max, usually 8-10 seats. [redacted] had 6 in her party, so we naturally sat 3 more in the table because there was the available space. We need to do this to not waste space, and keep our costs and labor down so that our seats aren't being wasted, and our chefs won't need to cook more than they have to. Also regarding the 18% service charge. [redacted]'s party took up 6 seats, that constitutes a party of 6, regardless of how many checks her party maybe have had. We've had a long standing policy, as with many other restaurants, to include a 18% service charge for larger parties. With all that being said, the situation could've been handled with a lot more professionalism by our manager in [redacted]. Review: My family (husband, brother, mother, father and 1 year old daughter) and I arrived to eat at Ichiban Steakhouse on July 29, 2015. This was the location on [redacted]. We were seated at a table and told where to sit. After about five minutes, the hostess sat an additional three people at the same table. We were extremely crammed and had asked if they would be able to divide us up for some more room. The answer was an emphatic "no."

We ordered our food and asked for two separate bills (one for my husband and myself and one for my mom, dad and brother). My husband and I ordered a Volcano Roll, and it came with masago all over it. I knew that the menu did not say there was massage included, as I am allergic to fish oil and I never order anything with masago. I went to check the menu and confirm, and I was correct. While I was telling the hostess, the manager came over and I explained the situation to him. He was extremely rude, and told me that ALL spicy tuna (which is included in the Volcano Roll) in EVERY Japanese restaurant has masago. I explained that I would have asked for no masago if it had been indicated on the menu that that was included. I was able to get a roll sans masago, but the manager was atrocious, and very disrespectful. He didn't treat me even as a human being, let alone a customer.

The food was good... no complaints at all there. But the management of this restaurant absolutely needs to be re-evaluated. When our bills came, the waitress told us that they had charged us for 18% gratuity since we were a party of 6+. First of all, we had separate checks, so we weren't a party of 6+. EVEN if we were on one check, we ordered five meals for five people. I addressed this with the manager and again, extremely demeaning, he said that my baby is also a customer. She slept on my shoulder the entire time and they're telling me they're going to charge us 18% gratuity because of that.

Usually, I tip more that 18%. It's the principle here of running a restaurant. One bill said 2 guests, and the other said 3 guests, which I have pictures and copies of, and you're going to tell me you're charging for 6+ people? That's not right.

At this point, it wasn't worth arguing with the manager any longer because I knew I would not get anywhere with him. Not only was he unkind, rude and disrespectful, but he was not willing to listen. He didn't care one bit about his service nor his attitude.

So, finally I go to pay the bill and use my ten percent off coupon (which I receive in the mail every 2 weeks), of which is not advertised correctly. He only took 5% off of the total bill. This is the first time we've gone to this restaurant, so also is the first time we've used the coupon.

I hope this complaint comes into the hands of someone who is able to make a change in the customer service expectation at this restaurant. I have never been so upset and disrespected by someone who is supposed to be a server.
