The customer purchased a dress and yard of fabric on 10/27/for a total of $ At that time a contract was signed by the customer The contract that was signed clearly states " Not Responsible for Merchandise left in the store after the wear date" The bride changed her
wedding date to 07/27/ Almost three years after the original purchase date We did store the dress free of charge for this entire time The last correspondence we had with the bride was in November of We tried to contact the bride with several letters, emails and phone calls On May 23rd we called the phone number we had on file to find it was no longer in service We verified that the phone was disconnected Another letter was sent to the address on file asking to confirm your wedding date and that the dress would need to be picked up by the last wedding date we had on file, July 27, or the dress would become property of the store After not hearing from the customer for months and having stored the dress for years at no charge we considered the dress abandoned On July 31, the abandoned dress was returned to our stock and then donated to the the Charity Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation On 08/17/we received an email from the customer asking to come and pick up her dress We explained the situation and told her we no longer had the dress and that it was donated After a few email exchanges over the following days we did not hear from the customer again until she came into the store on 5/26/- months later Even though a there was a signed contract that clearly states we were not responsible for merchandise left in the store after the wedding date, we did feel for the customer and the situation she was in and she did leave the store with a free bridal gown that she stated she "loved."
