Review: I was contacted by this company, at my work, regarding my wife's student loan. They have called me several times over the past few month, and it has always been while I'm at work. I have consistently told them that I do not know all the information about my wife's student loan, and the Dept. of Education will not discuss the matter with me because I am not her. Immediate Credit Recovery claims that it was me that talked to the DOE, but I am completely out of the loop. I have repeatedly told them that they need to talk to my wife, [redacted], if they wish to get this resolved in a timely manner; but, they have not been able to get in touch with her, and they refuse to leave messages on her voicemail, stating that it is against their companies policy. They left a message on my voicemail today, wanting to contact me. I had decided to see about resolving her debt, and they transferred me to a [redacted]. When I tried to query her on the specifics of the account, she kept on interrupting me, refused to listen to my questions, insisted that I was the one that has been in contact with the Ed. Dept., was beligerent and hung up on me. I called back and talked to someone else ([redacted]) who was able to answer my questions, allow me a day to get our finances in order (just one day, that's all I needed!), and help me set up payment arrangements so that we can resolve our debt. We are a hard working couple, trying to raise a family; and, like all families, there are extenuating circumstances that affect us (such as medical bills, car payments, food and housing, etc.), and to be forced to pay a bill on the spur of the moment, without knowing the specifics of the bill, is not only unethical ... it's immoral. How Immediate Credit Recovery expects to collect on these debts that they have been commissioned for, and then hang up on people after bullying them, is beyond me. Their heavy-handed tactics make them very unpopular, and I've seen several websites, in my research of this company (to see if they are legitimate), and there are many dissatisfied people who are angry with the treatment they have received from this company. It is people like [redacted], and [redacted], that make such companies like I.C.R. into tryannical, faceless, souless organizations that seek to snuff out honest people who are just trying to survive. May God have pity them! (At least more pity than they have shown others).Desired Settlement: Immediate Credit Recovery is the only collection agency that the Department of Education uses in my area, which gives them a monopoly on the repayment of all student loans. It is constitutionally illegal that no one can go through another company to resolve their debts. This gives ICR much latitude over the treatment of those indebted. There are many other organizations that can not only do their job, but do it better. This issue could have been resolved months ago if I wasn't constantly harrassed about a bill that I know nothing about. With their cold-hearted personell, and their policy of not leaving messages, it is as if they really do not want to collect on these debts. It is quite obvious that they are milking the Department of Education, and all of us taxpayers, for these commissions that they will get paid for whether or not they settle these debts. We, the people, deserve fair treatment by our government; and the Fair Debt Collections Act guarantees that the common citizen can resolve their issues without sacrificing their means to provide for their families. GIVE FREE ENTERPRISE A CHANCE!!!
