Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/01/14) */
Ideal Auto Sales adamantly disputes every aspect of this complaint. We always are more than lenient on repairs in the first couple of months after a vehicle is purchased and almost always make the repairs at no cost to the customer although we...

have no obligation to do so. It is also ridiculous to try to blame us for issues with a vehicle that they purchased three and a half years ago. Our vehicles are used, but go through a thorough inspection before being offered for sale to a customer. We would never offer a vehicle that was unsafe or showed signs of rust damage to the frame. The customer claims it was under a recall notice, if that is true we had no knowledge of that. As a used vehicle dealership we are not allowed to make any repairs on recalls. Only the franchised new car dealer can do those and it is the customers responsibility to have those repairs made as the manufacturer does not notify us, but only the owner of record. It is also ridiculous to blame us for a manufacture issue. These complaints should be addressed with the manufacturer, In this case Hyundai Corporation. It is our position that this vehicle was sold in good condition and we have no control over what happens to it over three and one half years in the customers care. Under no circumstances would we accept the vehicle back as they suggest. This is only a ploy to try to avoid paying the balance of the contract and it will not work. We have met every one of our obligations under the contract and intend to enforce all of our options in the event the customer does not complete their obligations under the contract.

Review: reimbursement of repairs for truck

I bought a used truck from Ideal Auto sales. Asked the car sales associate if the vehicle ran well and everything was in working order. He said yes, upon picking it up the vehicle shook when braking and the front end was making noise around the wheels/steering. He replaced/repaired the rotors and said he couldn't find any issues up front. My wife sold her car so she used it to drive a few miles to work. She didn't notice any problems. Immediately when I drove it I noticed there was issues. We took it in and upon the repair shop looking at it they noticed the wheel bearing and inner and outer tie rod ends were bad.He said due to the extent of the damage the dealer should have noticed the issues if he had done a safety inspection. He also noted the rear end is leaking fluid. I contacted the dealer, he said to bring in the invoice and he would take care of it. I went in and his helper made a copy and said they would take care of me. It's been two week and I've made at least 3 calls and I haven't heard a thing back.Desired Settlement: I know I bought a used vehicle, but I bought it in working order. I asked multiple times and was assured that the vehicle was in good working order and ready to go. The issues with the truck resulted in me having to take off from work early and my wife having to get a ride to work. The truck wasn't drivable. All I ask for is the issues with the truck to be taken care of.

Business' Initial Response

[redacted] test drove this vehicle and when then he purchased this car "AS IS" and signed a buyers guide stating he was aware of that. He called us a week after buying it stating it had a slight leak and that the brakes were working but shaking. In a safety inspection we are required to check brake pad thickness and confirm all lights and safety equipment are working properly which we did. As a favor to [redacted] I agreed to resurface the rotors and fix the oil leak but I was under no obligation to do so. Three weeks after purchase and nearly 1000 miles [redacted] informed me that he had to do some maintenance and replace a hub and tie rod ends. I asked him to drop off the bill and I would see what I could do. [redacted] told me that he expected me to pay for it and left messages that if I didn't he would take care of it through other means. We don't respond well to threats and we were under no obligation to do anything for [redacted]. After receiving the Revdex.com complaint we have determined that [redacted] will never be satisfied and to severe all ties and offer no further assistance. [redacted] has a copy of his "Buyers Guide" for reference to his agreement to purchase the car "AS IS" and that he understood he would be responsible for all repairs after the purchase.

Consumer's Final Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

I didn't have the vehicle for a week. I called him that night. He called me on Friday and said he couldn't get it into the shop until Monday. I had the vehicle for a week before the wheel bearing and so on was noticeable. He said he would take care of it. I will keep calling, and going by his office until I get the money.
