Review: The contract was to remove existing [redacted] siding, single-paned windows, and shutters and replace with [redacted] siding, double-paned windows and new shutters. The job was poorly done and does not comply with the installation guide published by [redacted]. The planks do not fit snugly end-to-end because they are not properly secured to a stud; some of the planks are chipped, cracked or contain visible imperfections; there is a sizeable gap between the bottom starter plank and the structure (over an inch); and daylight can be seen through the walls in the attic. The result is that the house less insulated than before and small creatures (insects and small lizards) are getting into the home through the gaps and openings. According to both the [redacted] auditor and a professional home inspector familiar with [redacted], the only viable solution to this problem is to have the [redacted] siding removed and completely redone.Desired Settlement: Accent Exteriors charged $10,600 for the entire project. Since the windows and shutters appear to be satisfactory I am seeking a refund of $9586.00 for the siding portion of the job.
