Ideal Floor Covering Reviews (%countItem)

My wife Kristen purchased *** flooring from Ideal Floor Covering last February. She purchased the most expensive *** Laminate flooring for our basement
After the install the floor started to bubble in spots. The floor was not installed by gluing it was installed as a floating floor, so installation is not the issue....
She contacted the owner and sent pictures to the store person whom sold her the flooring.
When talking with the owner he immediately started to blame the installation of the floor.
After numerous conversations with the owner, he most memorable quote was "sometimes you just get a bad meal" my interpretation of that comment was 'too bad" just your bad luck.
We went on to file a complaint with the local distributor in Avon Ma and with *** directly.
Kristen spent north of $5,000 on the materials alone, not including installation.
At the end we were offered $100 dollars for our issue/s.
It's been over a year now, we were hoping maybe the bubbles would go down over time but they have not.
We wanted to have our money refunded for the materials only not the install, we would eat that expense.
We chose not to continually chase both *** and Ideal flooring to make the situation right especially when we asked them to come out and inspect the floor, and their response was immediately "not installed properly".
We are not poor people so at some point we will just rip it up and replace, but I do not think it is fair that neither *** or Ideal will refund any portion of the cost of the materials...
My wife suffered a series illness which kept me pre-occupied the last few months, now that we are back on the cape the floor continues to bubble in places....We will do our best to communicate our dissatisfaction with both ideal and

My daughter and I visited the Hyannis store in May looking for flooring for our new home. We spoke to *** who helped us pick out flooring and offered to come measure and provide us with a quote. As we will be doing some remodeling in the home, we asked if the job could be done in stages, and we were told that there was no problem with that. I set up an appointment time for the the following week. A lady named *** came to the house to measure. I showed her what areas we wanted to be done straight away and what rooms would be having construction. She recommended that she measure the whole house and order the flooring all at once so that we would get the same lot for the entire project. She said that the excess would stay in the warehouse until we were ready for future phases. I walked around with her as she measured every room with her laser measure.

When the quote from *** came through, it was inline with what I had researched for pricing of flooring and installation costs. I asked to confirm that this was for the entire house, minus rooms we were not doing (ie, bathrooms downstairs kitchenette and equipment room), and that it would be done in phases, and she replied back that it was for what *** had measured and she confirmed that it did not include the rooms that we were not doing. I decided to go with Ideal Flooring for the convenience of storing the flooring during the phases. We signed the agreement, paid a deposit and set up the install of phase 1.

The install of phase 1 went very well. We loved ***, the installer, and were very happy until I received an email from *** asking for payment in full because they had installed all of phase 1. I was bewildered...I was under the impression that the flooring for the entire project had been ordered (so that it would all be the same lot) and that the quote was for the entire project to be done in phases. As *** had measured the whole house and *** said the quote was for what what measured, why would I think that the quote was only for phase 1?? There was no breakdown of square footage or cost per square foot of flooring on the quote, just a comment that I got special pricing on the flooring due to the amount that was ordered. I did not think that was odd, because in my business we do not give out real item numbers until the client has committed to purchase.

Following discussions with *** about this, she said that she would like to come to our home and see what had been done already and measure what was left. She said we could 'work something out' for the remainder. I agreed to have her come out and I received the quote for the rest of the house. It was an additional $7,947.15 on top of the original quote! 'Working something out' equated to 10% discount off materials, which is an insult.

I emailed the owner, ***, and told him all of this and forwarded all the emails. He spoke with *** and *** and said that *** had told him that she only measured the 'phase 1' rooms and that was the end of his 'due diligence'. He said he could not honor the original quote and would see if the manufacturer's rep could do anything else on the price. He came back with a further discount of $400 making the quote for 'phase 2' $7500.

In my opinion, at best there was a miscommunication between *** and ***. At worst, I was misled on purpose in order to get the sale. Mr *** said that *** told him that she only measured the 'phase 1' rooms and produced a hand written sheet showing the rooms in 'phase 1'. However, I walked around with her while she measured every single room in the house that will be having the flooring.

Ideal Floor Covering Response • Sep 19, 2018

Dear ***,
We have received your complaint & it has been discussed within the Ideal Floor Covering’s management. All client complaints are taken seriously, and we want to assure you that the problem you brought to our attention is being addressed.
After further review, it has been acknowledged that we agreed to do your installation in in 2 phases with your material selection of vinyl plank during your initial showroom visit/discussion with myself. After the measure had taken place with yourself & my associate ***, I calculated all materials & labor appropriate for “phase 1” of the project due to potential remodeling &/or walls being removed/moved in certain areas for “phase 2”. All sales agreement &/or appropriate paperwork was signed & acknowledged via email by you for “phase 1”. Once “phase 1” was completed, I emailed you for the remainder/final payment for that first phase of the project.
“Phase 2” was brought up via email once the final payment email was received by you, we then came out to the residence to measure the areas that had yet to be measured do to the remodeling &/or walls to be removed/moved. I calculated the materials & labor needed for “Phase 2” with a discount on materials.

Sincerely yours,
***
