From start to finish, Ideal Kitchens demonstrated excellent customer service! Their entire staff was professional, respectful, neat and timely. Their workmanship was absolutely beautiful. We are extremely pleased with our kitchen remodel and would highly recommend Ideal Kitchens to others.

I recently contracted with Ideal Kitchens to renovate my kitchen, master bath and half bath. The entire process was excellent from design with Steve, to material selection and finally through installation. The carpenters and other experts were great, timely and cleaned up every day. I highly recommend them.

Ideal Kitchens did a sloppy job of installing and venting a bath fan, causing condensation to form around the fan after showers and refused to fix it Ideal Kitchens did a very sloppy job of installing and venting a bath fan and patching a ceiling. It caused a problem with condensation.Last summer Ideal Kitchens did some renovations in our bathroom, including installing and venting a new bath fan and patching a ceiling. In autumn, when it started to get cold, we began to have a problem with condensation forming around the bath fan after we showered.Ideal sent someone. We asked him to check if there was fiberglass insulation around the fan box. He said that the fan box had not been insulated. He put in some fiberglass insulation, but not enough. The problem improved a little but condensation still formed, especially if we took showers back to back. The same person was scheduled to come a second time but never showed up.Ideal sent someone else. We asked him to check the insulation and how well the joints were sealed. He refused to go in the attic. We tried to explain to him that condensation forms where moist bathroom air meets cool attic or outdoor air. Any leaks in the joints or exposed areas of the fan box are where this is likely to occur. He said those things would not cause condensation. He suggested we might have a leak in the roof. We don't understand how he correlated post shower condensation with a leak in the roof? It's so absurd. He treated us with disdain. It was very upsetting. We decided to go into the attic and do the work ourselves. When we did the repairs we noticed several problems with their work, potential sources of condensation (see photos at [redacted]1 The opening in the ceiling for the fan box was too large.2 The fan box was not insulated tightly with fiberglass the way it is supposed to be.3 There was no elbow used to attach the duct to the fan box.4 The tape used to seal the duct to the fan and to the vent was not the proper tape and it was coming loose.5 The duct was not insulated.6 The vent was not caulked.Besides that we were shocked to find the ceiling had been patched with an improperly sized piece of drywall and attached with a rotting piece of wood. They offered us $150 but that does not seem adequate to reimburse the fan work and patching of the ceiling. We decided to try conflict resolution through [redacted]About a week later we found out our cat was dying of cancer. We were too sad and overwhelmed to be bothered with conflict resolution. We told them of our situation and that we would settle for the $150. The owner said he had to think about it and would get back to us by the end of the week but never did.We showed photos of their work to other home renovators. They all agree the work was very poorly done. One contractor laughed out loud at the use of the rotting wood board. They also said that $150 for venting and installing a fan and patching a ceiling is not a realistic estimate, that it should cost between $300-400.We wound up trying conflict resolution through [redacted] Apparently no one at Ideal understands how condensation forms. They still suggest it was a leak in the roof. Since we did the repairs we have not had a problem with condensation. They didn't address the photos and they made several false claims, like that they sent three people to address the issue when they only sent two. One of them refused to go into the attic.Desired SettlementWe would like to be refunded the cost of the installation and venting of the bath fan and patching of the ceiling. The quotes we got from other contractors for that work is $300-400. They claim it was $150. Three hundred dollars is the minimum amount we will settle for.Business Response In response to the complaint Submitted by [redacted] It is with sincere regret that [redacted] has expressed dissatisfaction with our efforts to resolve concerns she has had with the function of a bath fan/vent installed as part of a partial bath remodel. This was just retrofit install replacing the old fan with a new one. As Express by [redacted], an expectation of high quality work was followed by a capable office staff combined with carpenter's work that was impeccable and which after close scrutiny of the project and progress was followed by full payment of the contract, by (Member name removed), upon satisfactory completion. As [redacted] notes, over a month had passed [redacted] she called regarding the finish of the 5' x 7' bath ceiling. As a result Ideal sent out a carpenter to touch up and re-paint the bath ceiling. After several month had passed [redacted] called regarding water on her bath fan. As a result, Ideal sent out a carpenter to investigate and solve any potential problem. After looking at the bath fan from the bathroom and going into the attic to look for problem areas, no evidence of condensation or moisture was found, however an additional layer of insulation was added to the vent and fan. After another month had passed [redacted] called regarding the water on her bath fan, and requested a different carpenter to look at the potential problem. As a result Ideal sent a different carpenter to address any potential problem. After a thorough inspection of the fan and existing venting, he found no evidence of water of condensation from the fan or its original venting, Informing [redacted] of the potential of a roof leak. [redacted] called once again requesting a different carpenter, and once again his findings were the same. The next phone call from [redacted] was to demand a large sum of money or she would complain to [redacted]'s [redacted] In Response to [redacted] we offered to pay for our cost of the fan, and recommended other areas of potential water infiltration in the general location of the fan. Once again it is with sincere regret that [redacted] is unsatisfied with our numerous efforts to resolve her concerns within the scope of the contract limits. It has always been and will always be our absolute goal to provide every customer with impeccable service, absolute integrity, and the best products to fulfill their wants and needs and to create lasting relationships. Thank you for your time. Sincerely,[redacted] ownerConsumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Ideal kitchens wrote the same response here as they did on[redacted] showing that they did not read this complaint, which has been changed. This epitomizes how they have treated us; not paying any attention.Ideal Kitchens' response does not accurately reflect what happened. The bottom line is there was a problem. The source of the problem was that they did not follow industry standard procedure and did a bad job installing and venting a bath fan and patching a ceiling (see photos). They refused to take the simple, recommended steps to fix it and they were not respectful of us. While it was still winter, we made the recommended repairs ourselves (proper sealing and insulation) and we no longer have a problem! Photos can be found on [redacted]Just to name a few of the inaccuracies:Ideal referred to 'original venting' in their reply. We bought a new vent and new duct work because a bird had made a nest in the 'original venting.' We have all the paper work including the contract to corroborate this. In the photo showing how they attached the duct without an elbow, you can see the original duct discarded to the side.Ideal claims 3 people came to our house to address the condensation problem. Only 2 people came, [redacted] and [redacted].Ideal claims on the first visit, by [redacted], 'an additional layer of insulation was added to the vent and fan.' [redacted] told us the fan box had not been insulated at all. He did not insulate the vent.[redacted] was scheduled to come a second time at 9 am one morning. At 10:30 he hadn't shown up yet. When we phoned we were told he was on his way. He never showed up. The next and last person to come was [redacted]. He refused to go into our attic. There was never a thorough inspection. If there had been, they should have found what is shown in the photos, which are known to be the most common causes of condensation around a bath fan. These things should have been addressed before other potential causes for condensation were suggested, especially such an absurd one as a roof leak. As written in the complaint; apparently no one at Ideal Kitchens understands how condensation forms.A side note here: Had there been any water getting from the roof or the attic into our bathroom through the fan or its opening; improper installation, sealing or insulation would be implicated. It IS within the scope of the contract to do good work and to check it and repair it if it has not been done to standard.Final Business Response We are working with the customer to resolve the issue.
