We have reviewed Ms. [redacted]'s complaint and thought we had resolved this issue with the customer prior to them contacting the Revdex.com. When the customer test drove the 2003 Chevy Trailblazer and signed the contracts for the vehicle, we explained the vehicle was being sold as is. This...

is the vehicle the customer chose with the down payment they had and the payment they wanted per month. During the test drive, the customer did not experience any issues with the vehicle and our service technician did not discover any issues with the vehicle prior to releasing the vehicle for sale. Ms. [redacted] contacted our office approximately 7-10 days after purchasing the vehicle. At that Mile, the customer scheduled an appointment to bring in the vehicle and have it looked at because of a misfire and felt there was an issue with the transmission. Our mechanic replaced an ignition coil in the engine to resolve the misfire, replaced the transmission fluid with new fluid and a new transmission filter at no charge to the customer. The service technician explained we are not a transmission repair facility and could not state whether the service on the transmission would take care of the issue or not. Therefore, the service technician suggested a repair facility by the name of [redacted] and a few others and explained if the transmission needed to be replaced a used a transmission (which we researched for the customer) would be approximately $400. When our service technician called for pricing on installing the transmission he was quoted approximately $500, which would have been a total cost of $900. Based on the cost, our company decided to return $800 of the customer's down payment, so the work could be completed, if necessary. The transmission we found was not a new transmission, but a used transmission, which we would ensure would be working and came with a 60-day guarantee from the repair facility. Our company is willing to go a step further to resolve this issue for the customer. We would require the customer to bring in the $800 we refunded to the customer before repairs can begin, the vehicle and the customer will be required to sign a work order. We will purchase a used transmission for the customer and have it installed at a repair facility of our choice. If the repair costs more than the $800 from the customer, we will cover the additional charge(s). The vehicle will be needed at our facility for approximately a week or longer and our company will not be held liable for any rental or loaner vehicles. If this settlement is satisfactory to the customer, please have them contact our office to schedule the vehicle to be brought to our location at [redacted]. Our company will not be held liable for any towing or transporting fees from the customer. If you have any questions regarding this issue, please do not hesitate to contact our office at [redacted] and speak to me. Sincerely,  [redacted] Finance Manager Ideal Used Cars

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
No where did I get quoted for less than $1500 to repair my transmission, [redacted], [redacted], [redacted], [redacted]. As a matter of fact, the lowest I received after looking at my vehicle was from [redacted] for $1700 which he sent to the finance company, [redacted], in an attempt to get their assistance in reaching out to Ideal Used Cars which they did on my behalf. I can not return them the original $800 because after I was notified that Ideal Used Cars told the finance company, [redacted], that I could take them to court if I wished but they weren't going to do anything else to right the wrong, I had to spend the $800 to fix my ford focus so it could make it to Beachwood for my pain management appointments. I had already missed several needed appointments and have to start outpatient IV infusion treatments at [redacted] so I couldn't exactly sit around without a vehicle to get me there. I have now had this vehicle that does not run for over a month and have made my first payment on it. I will be making my second one next week. I'm paying $5800 for a car I can not drive. I asked for a warranty and was told no, I couldn't get one on this vehicle. I specifically said many times I did not want an SUV but was told that a car would not meet my needs. I wish I could accept their terms but I can't because their refusal to do the right thing when they were contacted by my finance company boxed me into a situation that I as a sick woman had to choose between my treatments or holding onto $800 towards fixing this transmission months down the road because with the car payment, that is how long it is going to take for us to be able to save that money again. Around income tax time, more likely. By that time it will have flat tires from sitting and lord only knows what else. This has truly been a nightmare and I wish I had never set foot on their car lot.
Regards,
[redacted]
