Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Regards,
[redacted]

IDT generated and provided two new PIN numbers for the complainant. They are both equal in value and are immediately available for use

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING PASSAGE, ""fees are subject to change without prior notice", it is not possible to provide a detailed response to this complaint without the PIN for the calling card and the particular destination in which the complainant claims that the rates were increased. "I HAVE NO PIN #. I USE MY CURRENT HOME TELEPHONE # AND CALL TO JAMAICA.ACCORDING TO MY FRIENDS WHO DO CALL FROM USA TO JAMAICA THEY HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ANY INCREAES ON THEIR RATES. THEY INTRODUCED ME TO BOSS.WHILE I APPRECIATE THEIR SERVICE, IT WOULD BEHOOVE THEM ALL TO MAINTAIN RESPECTABLE BUSINESS BEHAVIOR UNTO ALL CUSTOMERS, INCLUDING ME. MY FRIEDNS DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY INCREASES, AT ALL!
Regards,

I am rejecting this response because: IDT is "playing stupid." They got a verbal request to close the account when I called them to pay the final balance. They gave me the wrong amount and subsequently tried to charge me $71.00 in penalties for a paltry "amount owed" of less than $5.00.It was only after I initially spoke with their representative to close the account and make the final payment that I called AMEX and told AMEX to stop the auto-pay. If IDT had not gotten my call, how would they have known to close the account prior to their August bill to me? Yet--they billed my AMEX account even though IDT's account had been closed.  IDT charged me two "bad check charges" when AMEX refused payment (and one other charge on the bill that they finally sent by mail that took that charge off the bill.) IDT made a mistake in the final amount they quoted. Then they tried to add bogus charges by billing AMEX and finally billing me for "bad check charges." I paid them without any problems since 1989! Apparently they were more efficient then. [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:The explanation from the company completely disregards the main issue. I had plenty of money left around 4 or 5 dollars left when I tried to use my cell phone, which I had been using since 2007 when I first used their services. I reinstate the issue again, sometime this year, I was not able to make a phone call from my cell. The company did not communicate this change to me and I had to wait to get home to use this card. There were changes in the use of this card that were not communicated to me. I contacted this company several times and none was able to help me. Please refer to my original submission to have an account of events.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

We located [redacted] pre-paid calling card account for each of the contact telephone numbers included in this complaint. Neither card has been used or recharged since 2013 and our system shows no indication of any promotional text messages that were sent to either of these numbers during...

the month of August in 2014. If there is further information available to support the basis of this complaint, please do not hesitate to contact me or forward the additional information.

Our records show that the complainant utilizes the Boss Revolution pre-paid calling service. Please note that as indicated in the complaint details, IDT did not carry or bill for any calls during the month of September. When a call is properly placed through the Boss Revolution calling service, the...

call is carried and billed by Boss Revolution at the pre-determined rate. IDT believes that the disputed calls were mistakenly placed directly through the use of the wireless carrier. Therefore, IDT cannot be held responsible for any charges that were billed to the end user's wireless account.

Based on the information contained in the complaint, we believe that this matter was sent to us in error. If the complainant believes that IDT is the company placing telemarketing calls to her number, please provide more detailed information (e.g. type of service being solicited, name of the...

business that is calling) so that we may further our investigation.

IDT is in receipt of the card number supplied by the complainant. According to the details, this particular card was activated (purchased) on July 16, 2011. Please be aware that there is a monthly maintenance fee in the amount of $2.50 that is deducted from the card beginning on the thirteenth (13th) month after activation. Given that the value of the card was $25, the full balance was depleted by May of 2013. The monthly maintenance fee is disclosed on the card packaging, the back of the card itself and in [redacted] Terms & Conditions.

IDT mailed a refund check in the amount of $48.99 to the account holder on Monday, November 10, 2014. IDT apologizes for the delay in sending the refund.

Boss Revolution is a pre-paid calling card that is linked to either a PIN or a telephone number. IDT requires this information in order to look at the specific account so we can determine if and when rates were raised.

Please be aware that IDT's headquarters is located in the United States (more specifically in Newark, New Jersey). IDT offers the following two access numbers for the [redacted] (one toll free and one local access): ###-###-#### and ###-###-####, both of which offer and...

provide prompts in English. The complainant may utilize either of these access numbers to use the calling card in question.

IDT apologizes if the customer did not receive helpful customer service. IDT's lowest rate is available when the customer uses a local access number. We disclose that we charge more if a toll free number is used. There is nothing unethical about this. IDT's disclosures are in Spanish and English....

Again, there is nothing deceptive or inappropriate about this. Qute the contrary, actually. IDT will refund the customer's purchase price of $7.00. It will take a few weeks to have a check cut and sent to the customer. We respectfully request that, the customer not use the card and that, upon receipt of the refund, that the customer destroy the card. To use the card knowing that a refund is being processed would be unethical.

The complainant sent an e-mail to IDT on April 13, 2016. The e-mail requested to cancel the account. As a matter of procedure, the IDT Agent who received the e-mail replied asking if it was a request for the entire account to be cancelled and to please confirm. Our records show that we did not...

receive a reply to that e-mail and so the account remained active. IDT then received a cancellation letter on May 18, 2016. The account was cancelled at that time and the remaining balance of $18.23 was credited in full. No further invoices will be sent to the complainant, as the account is closed with a zero balance.

According to our records, Ms. [redacted] subscribed to IDT's long distance service until she called to cancel it on October 1, 2015. IDT sent an invoice in the amount of $8.51 for service provided from August 7, 2015 to September 6, 2015. This invoice was valid and the account holder sent payment in...

full. The following invoice for $7.24 for service provided from September 7, 2015 to October 6, 2015, while mostly valid, has been credited in full. The account is currently closed with a zero balance. Ms. [redacted] should not receive any further invoices from IDT.

IDT requires the telephone number that pertains to the calling card in question so that we can investigate further. Upon receipt of the telephone number for the calling card, IDT will investigate further and submit a complete report to the Revdex.com.

Please be advised that IDT does not send text messages to random cell phone numbers. In this particular case, a [redacted] pre-paid calling card account was set up for the telephone number ###-###-####. IDT believes that a different individual attempted to set up this account and...

mistakenly entered the wrong telephone number. As such, an informational text message was sent to the number in question. Given that this account was apparently set up in error, IDT disabled the account so no further messages are sent to this number.

I am rejecting this response because: IDT was notified by phone about the account cancellation. I inquired about the amount due to close the account. After I paid by AMEX the amount due as quoted by them: I discontinued the auto-pay. When I was billed for an additional $4.38 I sent them a letter explaining that the account had been paid and closed months before. When I received another bill for $4.38, I decided that it wasn't worth the trouble--considering the amount in dispute. They then began to add "bad check" charges which were never my form of payment. Since I have already paid the $4.38 in dispute, any punitive amounts should not apply. Furthermore, if their representative had given me the incorrect closing balance: I would not have had to deal with any additional amounts and particularly not any punitive charges. I was their customer for 20 years and NEVER had a late payment.Subsequently, I researched their record on the Internet and they have more customer complaints than any other phone service. Had I known that I would have dumped them a long time ago. Since I have paid the disputed trivial amount, their attempt to "shake me down" for $71.00 is corporate piracy.

On January 19, 2015, IDT received the complainant's invoice that was returned by the US Postal Service indicating an insufficient address. Considering that the account holder may have moved out of the location in question, IDT blocked long distance service. We received another invoice from the US...

Postal Service on March 10, 2015 for the same reason. Once the account holder contacted us (on April 20, 2015), we were able to verify that the line had not been abandoned and restored service immediately. Payments that are sent to IDT are processed through a lockbox, which is an automated system for payment processing. If a customer does not utilize the long distance service, IDT does not provide a refund for monthly service fees, taxes or other charges. According to the account records, the usage generated from the account while the long distance service was blocked, was placed from the long distance calling card that can be used when away from home. Given that the requested refund is for legitimate charges generated from the calling card (in addition to the appropriate monthly fees & taxes), IDT is not in a position to provide a refund or credit.
