Final Consumer Response /* (2000, 6, 2016/08/29) */
Funny thing, once I made the complaint to Revdex.com, they started installing the fence yesterday and are here again todayCan I "suspend" this complaint? If they continue to work on it the next couple of days to complete the project and continue to
do a good job, I'll retract the complaint

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/10/28) */
I first spoke with *** on 7/9/in regards to her obtaining a fence from our companyAt that time, before the contract was signed or a final measurement, cost or contract was given, it is documented in my notes that we discussed time line
of install and it was running around estimation of 6-weeksShe stated she was closing on July 30thWe order each fence custom for every customer and we do not received the fencing until right before the install dateI informed her of the rain delays setting our schedule back, in addition, and we would do our best, again, the closes estimate is the 6-weeksThis is an estimation because we do work outside and weather and deliveries play a role in the work we get done
On 7/15/*** entered into a contract
On 7/19/*** emailed me for a status update(attach #1)
On 7/30/3:53pm I received an email (attach #2), I responded, that evening *** responded back she understood the record rain fall
I also stated in the email what to expect, In the meantime, she could check back between now and that time frame*** acknowledged she will be checking back, my assumption was that she understood#there was a wait of 6-weeks #weather plays a role #please, at any time, check back and we will answer questions, as we have in these email and phone calls, and give updates, as we also have in these emails
I am sorry if *** thought I was testy in this email, she added smile face, I would assume she was good with answers, I thought I was corresponding properly and her need to know was updated & had been taken care of by the response I received, with a smile faceI also assumed by her response that if she wanted any updates she was comfortable with contacting me, because she did it often with phone calls and emails
On 9/1/(attach #3) *** emailed me that check was cashedWe require 50% down at time of signing contractThis is the check she is referring to
I responded to her of why the check was cashedI cash checks when materials are put into production so I can forward the money to the pay for some of the fencing from manufacturerWhich money down and payments before product are common practice in society todayAt this point we are seven weeks into the contract, still within the 6-weeks estimation we have spoken about during the first call before the contract
On 9/1/at 6:51pm *** responses(attach #4)
She states she never received a bid that *** providedShe is not aware of the waiting timeAnd she does not remember a discussion of time frame
On 9/2/XX X:XX am (attach #5) I responded and addressed her concerns, as I stated in this email, we log correspondencePlease see the attached (#5)
On 9/2/XX X:XX pm *** responded she cannot remember things well she has "so much going on in her life"I assume by this email that she is happy again and feels I have met her needs of information and paperwork proof
On 9/13/XX X:XX pm (attach #6) *** emailed me that *** marked
She also stated that she was contacting her neighbors about hooking on to their fence, because we spoke about this during our phone conversation, that the fence is being installed in the next few days, *** stated to me that she still had not contacted her neighbors and was supposed to check to see if we could attach the fencingThe email is informing us that we are not allowed to hook on to the neighbor's fenceAs it is stated on our contract, which *** signed, property lines are not our responsibilityWe install the fence where we are told by the customer to installWe would not be able to provide a contract for this type of agreement between two neighborsAs I stated when we spoke on the phone she needed to speak with her neighbors in regards to this type of an agreementAgain this email states she was aware of that and did do this before the install
On 9/22/we received another phone call from *** that she was upset because the crew was installing the fence
This was my mistake, I did not call her the day of, she was aware of the week, not the day, as I was out of the office at the time the crew determined that they were able to install her fence because the job before hers was completed and they knew she wanted the fence asapHeathers install was discussed many times in office planning meetingsThe crew had the opportunity and thought they were helping by getting over and laying out the fence and preparing to install
In addition to these emails as *** has indicated we spoke on many occasion on the phone also, so again my assumption was that we had fulfilled her need for informationIn addition Heathers mother on the day of the install started calling the office at am leaving recorded messagesHeathers mother was outside standing by the crew for the entire time during installationAt any point if *** was unhappy with the install, she could have contacted our office as she did often
In regards to the installation, the fence was installed as we have installed for over years and according to manufacture guidelinesThis complaint is the first I have heard of ***'s disapproval
As far as the gap, my husband ***, personally went over and rectified any spacing that was caused due to the neighbors not allowing to connect to their fenceWhich was additional material, labor and outside the contractAnd this was completed at no charge (see inv)*** personally made sure that *** Okayed the completed area, stating she was happy with the completed jobAs far as the caps being glued, it is not a practice, but if requested, we willingly do this, which again is outside the contract and another trip labor and materialsWhich has been doneWe did not received an email or a call in regards to this requestShe contacted *** directlyI am not sure if she was uncomfortable with him, why she contacted him directly, when she had communicate so many times with the office/me in the past, knowing from our emails that the calls/emails are logged and followed up on which I have shown in this document
As far as *** showing up to receive a check from *** called her before he showed up and requested the check as it was due on day of completion according to the contract*** stood outside and waited for the checkI am not sure where the statements of "Making me scared that he would do something else to my home or me"I am not sure what the something else is as I believe this is the guy and the company that just made sure that every area of the fencing and the yard that *** was unhappy with was completed up to her satisfactionEven after *** picking up the payment, *** was comfortable to contact him directlyI would assume if you are fearful you would not invite someone back into your yardWhen in the past she contact the office, and still could have done that for any complaints
***'s defamation of character statements about ***, need to be addressed, I feel I should inform you and her of our standards of our life and business because we view our businesses as our life! We have been installing for many years as a family business and are pretty reputable hard working business people, owing three businesses locally*** and I have been married over years and have raised three grown married, hard-working, children and are grandparentsWe attend Church on a regular basis and study and practice our beliefs outside of Church***'s profession in the US Airforce provided him a top secret clearance, which shows that our US government investigated and trusted himIn addition, he was in security positions as a career after the US Airforce, serving and protecting his country and the public for many years before we became self-employedAs a family, are Very saddened by this type of inflammatory unfounded deformation of character statements madeThese statements that are carelessly fabricated and voiced to society affect us, our family, our businesses and lives and our right to actively pursue our professions and life dreamsIf you asked any person that knew us personally, they would state completely opposite of what was spoken by this complainant, which spent a total of possibly a one hour of her life with ***, with him trying to serve her request of a purchase fencing system
I am not sure by this complaint what *** ***'s request is to rectify her unhappiness, as there are no outstanding situations to our knowledgePlease let me know if I am unaware of something we have not provided according to the contractBut, I am very confident that after reading the statements, written proof, you can make a decision that the entire process was done in a professional manner and according to the contracted work

The work has been completed

This fencing system has been completed.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/07/07) */
We are a small family owned business and there were a lot of variables that played into Mr. [redacted]'s fence not being installed on his "desired timeline", mostly out of our control, his postponing install a few times, back orders, weather, etc. ...

When a customer, like Mr. [redacted], posts un-factual information, online others read this and base an option to our family and our business services that is not based on facts, please review documentation I have provided.
Ifft Quality fencing supplied a contract to Mr. [redacted] on 2-16-15. Twelve days later we were contracted and 50% down was received by Mr. [redacted] on 2-28-15, please refer to signed contract and check received stating fence project 2015 wrote by customer in the check memo. Mr. [redacted] posted and states to the Revdex.com he contracted us in 2014.
This contract was delayed by Mr. [redacted] on 3-29-15 (refer to text message #1)
Once contract was reinstated for the final time, by Mr. [redacted], in this reference text he was checking on progress on May 20th, stating how he was "on again off again so many times" on the fencing project, up to this point. (refer to text #2). Proving his postponing install several times.
We installed most of the fencing system on June 2, 2015. A landscape wall needed to be installed to complete the job. The standard gates did not accommodate Mr. [redacted]'s yard the way he wanted them to close up space under the gate. As a custom option we can order sloped gates and we offered this option to Mr. [redacted]. The other option customers have is to have landscape to cover the space under the gates, or leave the space. This was not a miss measurement, as stated by Mr. [redacted], but a custom option that is available to customers, and because it is a custom ordered gate specially for the dimensions of one yard and one area, it does take time to receive the custom product. Many customers we install fencing for choose to not have slopped gates with their fence, it is a preference that we offer as a custom solution. Again once all custom materials were available they were installed and the job was completed October 2015, final check was issued by Mr. [redacted]. And because Mr. [redacted] was unhappy with the wait we did not charge him for the upgraded gate charge of $400 for the special order gate.
I am not sure why if Mr. [redacted] is so unhappy with our services, that ordered porch railing to be installed after this experience of our services and product. We installed a porch railing in November/December 2015.
As far as the resolution. We are willing to fix or repair any gates that are installed, by our company and are causing closing situation. We will repair those at no charge. But from the posts that Mr. [redacted] has posted on social media sites, with inaccuracies posted. He is obviously not happy with our work. It makes no sense if a customer feels our work is inadequate, why would he want to contract our company to return to do additional work outside of the work that has been completed. Mr. [redacted] States we have unfinished work in his posts, we currently do not have a contract with Mr. [redacted].
In wanting to resolve his matter, we will repair his gates if he states they do not work. And we did not charge him $400 for the special order gate to accommodate his wait. Please advise us if Mr. [redacted] would like us to schedule a repair appt. Thank you!
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2016/07/18) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do understand that this company is a small family business. In fact, my wife is related to him, but that gained us nothing in customer service. I will concede that I do not have all the documentation that Mr. Ifft has addressed, but the timeline given was the timeline from Mr. Ifft. I did cause a temporary pause in the install, as another party was considering buying my property, and stated they didn't want a fence, but even once that negotiation stalled, and I gave Mr. Ifft the go ahead, he pushed this installation back many times, citing everything from the weather to injury among his workers. There is no documentation of this, as most conversation was done over the phone. I was constantly begging him to start / work on / and complete this job. The "Custom order" gate that Mr. Ifft refers to, was due to an error in measuring both the width and the fall of the opening that was present. I was very specific with Mr. Ifft in his initial visit, of how I wanted this gate to perform, and my reasons for it. To date, the gate functions, yes, but not at all like I asked that it would. Mr. Ifft has made many promises of coming to "fix the installation so it would work", but to date nothing has been done. Mr. Ifft was also contracted, separately, to do the repair on the landscape wall he mentions. He personally, did not do the repair, but sent one of his workers. The repair was made, and seemed satisfactory at the time to allow the fence install, but the repair has not held up to the function of the gate, and now the gate does not function properly. He has told me that he would come back and make this repair from the poor job the first time, and also install an additional handle to allow access from outside the gate, but has still not returned. I visited the Facebook site, that HE posted to allow interaction with his customers and voiced my concern there. It was met, again, with silence. It was only after repeated efforts to reach Mr. Ifft via telephone and text message, that he replied stating, that "due to my posting on his Facebook page, he would no longer work for me or communicate directly with me." Why, I ask, would you post a page to a public forum, and not expect communication from your customers on that forum, if you don't communicate in a timely manner by phone? If Mr. Ifft cannot bear public criticism of his business practices, then I would suggest NOT offering a public site to his clients and potential customers. (By the way, mine was not the only negative opinion of his company.)
As for the issue of the porch railing, ordered and installed in conjunction with the fence install project, which still isn't properly finished, I asked Mr. Ifft if he could supply and install a front porch stair railing that would match the fencing he had installed. He stated that he could, and would come by to take some measurements. I again waited for that installation, and when the time came, Mr. Ifft told me he had measured it wrong, but was really happy with the installation adjustment he had to make. I wasn't as thrilled as he was, as he has now attached this railing to the sidewalk, instead of just to the stairs as it should have been, and left unfinished holes in my concrete stairs. Again, not the job he promised it would be, and was contracted to perform.
Finally, Mr. Ifft is correct, that we do not have a current contract for work to be performed. Mr. Ifft was VERY aggressive in his collection practices, wanting paid immediately upon presentation of his bill. He would call numerous times, day and night, wanting to collect right away. Given the substandard work performed, I suspect this was so he could state, as he has now, that no contract is in place, and therefore he doesn't have to finish the job to the standards and correct operation that he has promised. I remain overall satisfied with the fence material, and fairly satisfied with the fence installation by Mr. Ifft's son, [redacted]. However, there has been no customer service after the sale, and the promises made by Mr. Ifft during the initial bid and installation of this project were never completed. I can not use the biggest gate as I had planned, because of the way it was installed, and the substandard work performed in rebuilding the landscape wall is currently causing the man gate for this fence to fail.
Due to Mr. [redacted]'s inadequate customer service after the sale, I will likely have to contract with another company to repair the poor workmanship of Mr. [redacted] during this install. At this point, I do not believe I can trust Mr. [redacted] to make the adequate repairs. I would be worried that he would sabotage the repairs, or continue to do them in a substandard way. I see no effort to protect the reputation of his company, but only to litigate himself out of providing proper customer service. My opinion of this company will remain unchanged.
