I let a neighbor be my real estate agent with ihome because I was trying to be nice. One of the worst financial mistakes of my life. He was always in a rush, didn't go over the contract (had to rush to sign on line in 30 seconds), did not inform me of anything until the last minute, didn't provide the invoices needed at the closing, did not look after my best interests, was never available (I would never have seen him if I didn't live across the street), didn't inform closers of the 5.25% (I caught it myself, it was 6 on the paperwork). The final bombshell came when the new owners were walking through and informed me they had wanted the washer, dryer and fridge. I had said I would offer them to the buyers when I listed it, but missed it in the fine print and he never told me they wanted them. I had already moved them to the front of a 26 foot truck so I wound up paying them 800$ to not have to unpack. It was like he put it on line and sold it then I was just a bother. My good deed turned into one nightmare after another. He is not a good real estate agent, and even worse, not a good neighbor.

I feel like there is most definitely a lack of communication with Dave. We signed a contract with him stating that he would refund $288 (a realtor fee) after a successful closing on our house. We closed on March 2 and it’s now June 6 and we still have not received a check from him. He showed up late to closing and without the check. We gave him our parents address to mail the check to since we were moving out of state and didn’t have a permanent address yet. On May 19 he said he had already mailed the check twice (once to the house that we had just sold and once to the parents address.) I emailed him our permanent address on May 20 since he said he would send the check out once more. We have not received the check. Is it possible that three checks have gotten lost in the mail? We felt that he was unresponsive a lot of the time when he was selling our house, therefore causing the lack of communication. We finally started talking to the buyers agent because we felt like we could get more information about the sale and closing on our home from him than we were getting from Dave. I gave him one last chance yesterday and emailed and also texted him to ask if the check has been mailed. He texted back saying that he would check once he got to the office yesterday afternoon. I haven’t heard from him since then. My next step will be filing an online complaint with the Revdex.com. I do not wish to harm his business. I would just like for him to honor the terms of HIS contract that he signed. If there is an issue with getting the check to us, then why not send it certified mail and provide proof that he’s sending it? It certainly would prevent all of this unnecessary frustration. I wouldn’t recommend Dave Barlow and would not use his services again.

Over the course of 11 months, I hired Dave Barlow, owner of iHome Realtors in the Columbus, OH area to sell two rental properties and my personal residence beginning in Feb., 2017, which generated him thousands of dollars in commissions. After the last one closed on 1/5/18, I have been requesting a refund of their $288 administrative fee through numerous phone messages, emails and texts. Our sales contract agreement specifically states we will be refunded the $288 fee upon successful closing(s). It has been almost 4 months dealing with his continuous and empty promises/excuses to send us our refund but have still yet to receive it.

This guy’s promotion is all about offering a cheaper commission than the standard realtor fee but once you’ve closed on the transaction, DO NOT expect him to follow up on whatever promises (written or verbal) that have to do with his commitments. I paid him over $6,000 and he will not respond to my repeated administrative fee refund requests for the $288.00 he contractually owes me. What kind of respectable real estate agent does that?

By the way, I sent him a text 9 days ago with a last effort attempt to get my refund within the next week or I would go on this campaign to let all know how he operates after he gets his commission check. No response so that’s the purpose of this communication. So sad I need to resort to this but this is the kind of review you need to read before you hire iHome Realtors.

He’s been withholding our $288 since we closed on our house on March 2. I have sent him countless emails and texts. He will not respond. He will not honor his own contract!

Dave Barlow and iHome Realty is not an honest or ethical company at all. 10tv in Columbus recently exposed Dave as the poor realtor that he is in their story about him. Dave promised many things to me and never delivered. He also claimed to be a contractor and that turned out to be a complete disaster for me financially. Do your homework--run a public records search and you will find judgment after judgment against Dave Barlow. Avoid this man and his various shifty companies like the plague.

Review: I am from Denver, CO. My wife and I purchased a home through a realtor in April of 2012. We purchased a warranty offered by First Choice Home Warranty, LLC at the same time. While we were under contract, we hired a home inspector to conduct an inspection of the house. He inspected everything but the A/C, due to cold weather. We moved into the house in June. Then I contacted the inspector and asked him to conduct an inspection of the A/C to include it in the warranty (I have both official reports upon request). After the A/C was inspected, it broke in 5 days. I contacted First Choice Home Warranty, LLC and requested a service. An independent contractor arrived and diagnosed the problem. I paid a $70 deductible. The conclusion was to replace the main unit. In a week, I contacted the warranty because nothing was being done. I was told that they needed a second opinion. In a few days, another contractor came and reached the same conclusionthe main A/C unit needed to be replaced. It has been three and a half weeks now, but we have been without the A/C. I called the First Choice Home Warranty, LLC almost every day. I left numerous messages. However, no one ever called me back. I finally got hold of the person, Dave Barlow, who is in charge of the situation. I provided all the facts and explained that we need a new A/C. He said that he needed more time to analyze everything to properly assist us and promised to call back in two days. Moreover, while I spoke with Dave, he mentioned, all of a sudden, that First Choice Home Warranty, LLC does not cover foreclosure properties (which had not been mentioned on the application in the first place). Then he said that the facts were vague and it was suspicious to him that the A/C broke five days after the second inspection.Once more, he never called back and never fulfilled his obligation and professional promise. Overall, it seems very much like an old unethical business tactic of bait-and-switch. We are totally unsatisfied with this kind of service.Desired Settlement: We need to have a new A/C ASAP. First Choice Home Warranty, LLC needs to stand by its professional promise and fix the problem accordingly.
