Image Tech Design

We were sold $10,000 in what we were told was new stereo equipment. After an $800 component failed, we found out [redacted] sold us used equipmntJuly 2011 we purchased a $10,000 surround sound system for our home. After a year and a half a very expensive speaker failed and [redacted] from Image tech Design claimed that it was out of warranty. We believed him because we thought he was an honest person and he sold us another speaker. Six months later, an $800 receiver failed. I went online and found out that the warranty for the receiver was for 3 years so we were well inside that time frame of the repair being recovered. I called the manufacturer directly to see how to proceed. I was instructed by the manufacturer to bring it to a service center, [redacted] in [redacted] MA for service. Upon bringing it in, the technician coundn't find a serial number on the unit. As it turns out, the tech told me that when a component is refurbished, the serial number is removed. We paid full list price for all the components that [redacted] installed, believing that he was selling us NEW equipment. I am also now wondering if the speaker that he claims was out of warranty, was really out of warranty in less than two years, but because he took the speaker with him, I cannot check to see if that serial number has been removed as well. After we found out what he did we contacted him via text and phone messages so he could do the honest thing and pay for the repair. He would not respond to any of our contacts and [redacted] at [redacted] (the manufacturer of the receiver) tried to contact him as well,and he wouldn't talk to him either. This man is a liar and a cheat and we cannot get our receiver repaired under the warranty because he sold us used equipment. I am attaching the receipts that we paid for the intial surround sound equipment. When he replaced the broken speaker, he didn't give us an itemized bill, but we did write him a check for $940, which I will have to get from the bank and forward to you if you need it. (That is unrelated to the failed receiver problem that I am writing to you about). Desired SettlementAt the very least, [redacted] should pay for the repairs of the USED receiver that he sold us. ($238.00) But actually, he should be responsible for giving us a NEW receiver because that is what we paid for. I do not have a receipt for the repair yet because it is in the process of being completed and my credit card has not been charged yet. I am very interested in getting reimbursed for my loss and making sure that he doesn't do this to anyone else.
