My fiancé and I recently went to see the special Roadshow presentation of the new film, The Hateful Eight. When we arrived an hour early, we were surprised to see that there was already a line for the movie. There was such excitement in the air for this unique experience. The UA Theater in KOP completely ruined this experience. After about a 45 minute wait, the line became so long that it wrapped around the hallway and came back to where it started. We were notified about 50 minutes after the scheduled start of the movie that the staff was unable to operate the projectors for this presentation. We were not offered a refund, only a pass for admittance into another movie. At this point, the staff opened the doors to the theater letting individuals who just arrived to enter before those who had been waiting for over an hour. Once the movie began, we noticed that the projection room light was left on. This was not turned off until the intermission. We were two rows from the very back, so this light was pointed right at us and obstructed our view. We were told that the intermission would last about 12 minutes. When I left my seat to use the restroom, I assumed I would have enough time. They ended the intermission in about 5 minutes so I missed the opening sequence to the second half. There were major lines for a small bathroom. The urinals are in an odd arrangement that face the opposite side of the bathroom stalls. Since the line starts right next to these urinals, I basically had someone watch me urinate which was very awkward and uncomfortable. When the movie was finally finished, there was yet another line to exit the theater. In an attempt to remedy the terrible experience, the manager was handing out movie passes. The passes specifically state that they are not to be used for any IMAX or special event presentations, events like the one this theater ruined. This was adding insult to injury. I would have preferred to receive a refund and gone to another movie theater. This was by far the worst theater experience I have ever had. I will never go back to this theater.
On the plus side, there was an attendant in a wheelchair who was super nice.
