Review: Signed a contract 12/12 & in March, 2013 contacted company to see when they were coming to install new air conditioning units that I had purchased. I was not in a hurry in the winter but did want it installed by Spring. After numerous calls back and forth [redacted], the owner finally came and started working on the new installation. He never worked over 3 hours a day and would leave saying he had an emergency somewhere. After months and months of going back and forth the job was finally completed to his satisfaction. When he said he was finished he gave me the final bill, never mentioning to me that he cut a hole too big for a vent in the living room and an 8inch rug mistake was covered up, no dampers were installed so we could shut off the air to the 1st floor, another vent was purchased to big and part of the flooring shows. He did finally deduct money for me to get rug fixed. With 2 units installed we were told the entire house would be more than cool. Well we can't get the 2nd floor under 78 degrees no matter what we do. Even closing the vents on the first floor does not help. After many discussions he said he would come back and install 2 more air return vents in the bedroom on the first floor to make the 2nd floor cooler. This was promised over 4 months ago and when I call [redacted] he says his partner will come and then never hear from either of them again. This entire project was a disaster from start to finish. You would think paying 14,500.00 your house would be cool. When the job was finished I still owed [redacted] 5,000.00 and refused to pay until my problems were resolved. [redacted] threatened to put a mechanical lien on my house and also told me he was going to call the air conditioning company and take my warranty away so it would not be honored. This entire experience was a disaster from start to finish and we still do not have a cool house upstairs. Excuse after excuse kept coming in and [redacted] told me he told me at the beginning my 2nd floor would not be cool, which is not true.Desired Settlement: I would like the company to return and finish adding the duct work so the upstairs would be cooler. I have a thermostat upstairs and can't get the rooms under 78 degrees.

Response:

Back in 2012 I had this company install an air conditioning unit in my home. I had to go through the Revdex.com to have the issues resolved back then. Now I had contacted this company to come and service my unit because water is running all over the floor from the air conditioning unit. I am not using it because not sure if more damage would be done using my unit. Back when it was installed I asked the owner if he would continue to service my unit. He said absolutely, just give us a call. Well 7/18/15 I called with my above problem. No call back. I continued to leave messages and no response from owner at all. I know he was mad because I had to go through the Revdex.com and file a complaint to get past issues resolved, but even then he said he would come and service my unit. The unit he installed is not a popular brand and I have no one else that I can contact to fix my problem. I did find one company and they said they would not want to work on my unit because it was not installed properly and he was afraid to do any work on it. He said there are so many leaking spots that the unit is not efficient at all and left. I would like to have the unit repaired and the leaking duct work fixed. I feel I was more than fair with this company and now I still have a system that does not cool my house efficiently. Upstairs is still at 78 degrees no matter what we do. We have to run a window unit in the bedroom just to make the room cool. Complete the job so that my unit is more efficient and so the basement is not the coldest room in the house because of so much leakage and fix the water running all over the basement floor.

09/16/2015RE: [redacted]To whom it may concern,I am writing a response to a complaint that was submitted on 08/19/2015. In December of 2012 I was contacted by [redacted] for an estimate on 2 heat pumps and 2 air handlers. After explaining the systems and how they performed she decided to have my company install both systems. Upon completion of the job [redacted] was given instructions on how to care and operate both systems. She was also instructed to have both systems maintained on a yearly bases otherwise this would void all warranties. It was explained to her that the 2nd floor would be warmer by a few degrees than the first floor because of the floor plan of her home ducting was limited to the 2nd floor areas. Approximately 2-3 weeks after the install was complete [redacted] contacted me and explained that the 2nd floor was 8 degrees warmer than the 1st. floor. I again explained that it was going to be warmer because of the ducting issues and due to the fact that warm air naturally rises. Myself and an employee returned and ran a second duct to the 2nd floor at no cost to her. I never heard back from her until I received this letter from the Revdex.com. In the letter she explains that another company told her that the unit was not installed properly. It going on 4 years old and I have never received a call from her to say that the systems were not running properly. I will not return and perform any service on either one of these units that no longer have a warranty because of lack of maintenance. If there are any questions please feel free to contact me.Thank you

Date Sent: 9/21/2015 3:14:17 PMI have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Regards,[redacted] I read the reply from Chuck. The information is not correct except for the fact that he admitted I have duct issues that he was not able to repair. My upstairs is completely inefficient to the point we now had to install window air conditioners just to be able to sleep. I know heat rises but the rooms are unbearable with it being 85 degrees with out window air conditioners all summer. I lived in a two story before and it was never this hot.
