Imports Plus Reviews (2)

This business has taken an inexcusable amount of time repairing my daily driven car. They have also acted unprofessional on several occasions. On July 15 2013 my car was sent to imports plus for a oil pan to be replaced, full exhaust with long tube headers, a passenger side mirror and radio with antenna installed, as well as the timing done all for $2,000. About two weeks later I get a text from the owner saying there's metal shards in my oil pan. I said do what must be done assuming he will contact me with what options I have to correct the problem with a price. I was sent away for two weeks on military duty. when I returned at the beginning of august he had sent my engine off to get rebuilt without my authorization. But he talked me into it saying its what the car needed and also it would be $4,000 now. after weeks of asking what the update on the rebuild and if we were still in the budget. With no clear answers, I asked for the name of the machine shop where the engine was at, around the end of September. he would not give me the name of it. I then proceeded to call all over Jacksonville Nc and found my engine at [redacted]. I brought the serial number of the engine prove to them it was my engine. I asked to know the current state of the rebuild and the price of it. they said they couldn't do that. As I was talking to the man at the desk my mechanic happened to be there. he was very mad I had gone to see where my engine was at and asking for a price. He then proceeded to tell me we were over budget and that he would not continue the work on it until he ran the numbers and found how much we were over budget. Also that I had no knowledge about cars and that my expectations of when the car should be completed were unreal. When we both calmed down I apologized for going around his back to get the information. we then settled a budget of $6,000 and the car to be completed at the end of November since I was being sent away for 45 days and id be back at that time. When I returned. my engine was still no assembled let alone my car done. My mechanic said it had to be machined again and he just got it back. so we then agreed to completion after Christmas because I was going home for the holidays. yet again I returned from being away to a car with no engine, he told me he had a family emergency and I understood. so I gave him until February. still no engine in the car. nothing in the car in march either, I have tired everything to be understanding but it has been nearly 9 months now. on march 16th I called to ask the update on the car, the owner told me he was hoping to have the engine in that Friday. But he was actually losing money on my car because we were over budget again, so he had to work on other cars to keep his shop open. This is why it was taking so long. So on march 24 I told them if the engine was not in the car running, at least that, by Friday the 27, I would be happy. on Friday march 27 morning I called to tell them I would be there at 7pm. the lady at the desk said ok. when I showed up at 7 there was a employee that opened the door to look at me. I went into where the receptionist sits. no one was there. I turned around the employee was there, I asked if there was an engine in my car, which was directly behind him. he said with a bad attitude he would not do that. I asked where the owner was he said he wasn't there. I asked if the engine was even assembled he once again gave me attitude and said we are closed. which didn't make sense because he let me in and I told them I was coming at 7pm. After nearly 9 months my car has no running engine and the business is refusing to work with me.Desired SettlementI want my car completed on April 17 2015 with all the work doneBusiness Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] managerContact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]To whom it may concern:This is regards to the complaint filed against us by[redacted] about his [redacted]. in response to his complaints I would first like to state that unprofessionalism is non exsistent in our place of business & our customers are our top priority outside our familys. when the customer originally brought his vehicle to us for oil pan, custom exhaust and radio installation, metal shards were found in his oil pan which in turn meant there were more serious underlying issues that needed to be taken care of, the customer was then notified of this immediatly, and as he stated "go ahead and do what must be done". That is clearly giving authorization to go forward with the nessacary repairs needed on the vehicle. the customer has been notified of the repairs and proper actions we have had to take to repair the vehicle every step of the way. This a [redacted] not a [redacted]! Finding the correct working parts for this vehicle is not as fast and easy as he seems to think it is. the motor had to be sent to a machine shop which at that point in time it is out of hands, we had to wait for them to complete the work needed on their end & at this time when the motor was brought over there were numerous jobs they had in front of his that had to be completed before they could even touch his. this took some time to receive the motor back. when we received it the motor was to be assembled and but back together to be put back in the vehicle. we had to strip the paint in the motor bay and repaint , this took some time as well, due to the numerous layers of paint that had had been put on the engine bay before we received the vehicle. the paint that we applied did not take so again the paint had to be stripped off and repainted. the customer then wanted a new gauge cluster& stated he wanted to keep the vehicle as origional as possible. I spent weeks searching for this part to accomidate his expections of what he wanted. when I located one that he liked I ordered the part but the part was also on back order for a month out.the customer has very little knowledge of what kind of time and precision a job like this takes. the customer has been immpossible to please and honestly his time frame expectations are simply unrealistic. due to having to wait for machine and special order parts yes this project is tanking some time. due to having to wait for parts and numerous other things yes we had to work on other vehicles to keep the shop running. this is a buisness and his vehicle is not the only one here. we cant not work on other jobs and put other jobs on hold and keep a vehicle on a lift that we can do nothing with because we are waiting on parts. the customers vehicle is continuously worked on inbetween other jobs as his parts came in. also this project is a lengthy one to begin with, its a complete motor rebuild and something to this nature takes an extensive amount of time to complete the correct way. ,in this time frame I also had a death in the family and had to leave for seattle and was there for a little over 2 weeks. I had to arrange a funeral and take care of many other arragments. this took much longer than expected the customer was informed of this and told that he would be informed when I returned and at that point in time I would start work on the vehicle again. when I returned home from tending to personal issues, I came back to my place of buisness and thing were way out of order and work was backed up. the customers vehicle is being worked on while trying to get things back in order and backed up work is being caught up on. a build like this takes time, and the young kids as himself watch the muscle car shows on tv that are buy parts and bolt on jobs and expect their projects to be completed in a week. it does not work like that. alot of custom work and hours of reserch and custom made parts takes time as well, and he refuses to see things from any other aspect aside from his own. we are doing everything in our power to compplete the customers project the way he asked for it. we will not just throw his car together to get the car out the door, we take pride in our work and in our buisness. we go the extra 10 miles to ensure our customers are 150% satisfied with the finished product. any questions or concerns please contact [redacted]

I have waited just almost under a year to get simple repairs done by this mechanic I am so done I will never go backOwner [redacted]Workers[redacted]Girlfriend/administration:[redacted]I've paid for a motor rebuild almost a year ago. I have a record and texts from owner saying "next week" from almost 6months ago. I've suffered in my personal life and work life. This gentleman's had my car so long I don't even know how to drive anymore. I am so sad I haven't had my car I've been promised next week for the last nine months. I have been unable to get anywhere in the local area due to lack of transportation. Wish I never went to importsplus to begin with it's been nothing but a headache.Desired Settlement I don't want to ruin someone's business I just won't ever go here again. And I highly recommend anyone to go anywhere but here.ExplainBusiness Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] managerContact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]To whom it may concern this in response to the complaint filed against our buisness. the customer has stated that he has made complete payment on vehicle this is not true statement. the customer was also informed there were other projects in front of his, and it would be a while before the vehicle was completed. and he also was ingformed that the motor had to be taken to machine shop for some repairs and that the machine shop was also backed up and it would be a while for that to be completed. once that motor was turned over to them it is at that point out of hands we cant proceed with reparis on his vehicle without the motor. as soon as we receive the motor back we will resume work on his vehicle.
