Review: The salesman expressed to me that the vehicle could be delivered for around $400-$600 based on prior deliveries and the fact that they do this all the time and get aggressive shipping rates. They shipped the vehicle without notifying me that it had been shipped and without notifying me what the shipping price was. I called a day after they said it had already been shipped and was told that the shipping cost was going to be $900. They mentioned they ship all the time and do it as a service and part of the vehicle purchase process. I was very upset to find that they shipped the vehicle without telling me but more upset that they failed to call to even mention how much money I was going to have to spend when it arrived. I guess they didn't care becuase the car was off their hands at that point and not their problem. I can't believe the shipper didn't require some sort of contract as well becuase I never agreed to anything. The shipping issue is the main part of my complaint but I will also say that my particular salesman was very condescending. Later in the sales process he mentioned things he never did before and said that we had discussed it becuase he "had it written down." In addition, I had to wait an additional month over the promised time I was told I'd have car due to some "state inspection paperwork" which was never clearly explained. The car arrived with no gas....not even enough to get me to the gas station, no floor mats, no keyless entry code as we had agreed on, several dents/dings that were not mentioned and worst of all, the oil change required light was on. After the salesman talked up the service these cars get I figured they would have at least changed the oil. It was very disappointed. This was just bad business all around but the way the car arrived with the oil change light on, no gas, no floor mats, and beat up was just disheartening. And of course I'm helpless being so far way.

I would like a payment of $393.78 for the $300 overage on the max shipping amount I was initially quoted, as well as $3.79 for one gallon of gas I would have liked to have to be able to actually drive to the gas station to fill the car when it arrived, $39.99 I had to pay for the immediate same day oil change I had to get on Sunday afternoon when the car arrived and $50 for a cheap replacement set of floormats.

At this time, we are willing to pay the customer $300 for the overage on the shipping charge, $20 for gasoline, and $40 for the oil change, for a total of $360.00. My service manager is on vacation and when he comes back he will be working with Mr. [redacted] to resolve another issue. Hopefully this can all be resolved and Mr. [redacted] will be satisfied as we like our customers to be.

Consumer Response /* (2110, 10, 2013/07/12) */

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the partial settlement response from the business.)

I appreciate the business being fair with me on this issue and I look forward to the resolution of the other issue we are working together on. I chose to use the services of this business becuase they were Revdex.com accredited and I am satisfied with the terms of this agreement as I expected to be with a Revdex.com accredited business.

Review: My husband, daughter and I traveled from Canaan CT to Wallingford CT to test drive a BMW xi on March 9thWe had called earlier that we and spoke to [redacted] the owner and asked him a few questions about the two cars we were interested inOnce arrived at the dealership they had already "sold" the and was bring out the for someone else to drive which was fineWe all walked around the lot do cars lookingAfter quite sometime [redacted] suggested that we go to lunch and come back to test drive the BMW which we did, drove the car and feel in love with it! but the oil light came on[redacted] assured me that it would be fixedWell with many many phone calls and excuses from [redacted] we were never able to pick up the car and lost out on $depositI had every intention onUsing this car, I had the check, insurance and time set aside to go pick it up but got such a run around from the dealership on why I could come and pick up the carAnd finally got frustrated and told the receptionist to tell [redacted] the owner to keep the carHe never called back to apologize, or they to make a wrong a rightI don't usually complain, but this was just so wrong I felt it was necessary to contact youIt never feels good to spend $deposit for a run around and not get the car at then endPlease feel free to contact me if you need more information! Thank You

Of coarse a refund of my $would be nice so that I could take it and place it down on a BMW at a real BMW dealershipBut I'm sure that wouldn't be possible seeing the dealership had us sign forms for non refundable

Case #XXXXXXXX
On Saturday March 9, 2013, Rick [redacted] came to our dealership with his wife and daughterThey looked at and test drove a BMW 328xiWhen they were test driving the car, the oil sensor light came on and I told them that we would take care of the issueMr[redacted] and his wife wanted to take the vehicle as soon as possible, but I informed them that due to the fact that we had to order a part to fix the issue with the oil sensor light and the car still needed to go through emissions testing, that it could take until Saturday for the car to be ready for deliveryKnowing this, Mr[redacted] and his wife put down a $deposit and signed a statement of deposit making their money non-refundableBecause the vehicle was non-refundable, it became a priority in our service department
In order to expedite the process, we ordered a new $1166.38(receipt will be submitted) part to fix the problem, rather than searching for a used part, which would have been roughly $2XX-XXX, but it would have taken longer and it would delay the promised delivery dateWhen the new part was put in, it fixed the issue with the oil light, but in order to pass CT emissions testing, new readiness codes had to be set and the vehicle had to be driven to allow the motor vehicle emissions testingI had told Mr[redacted] and his wife that the car would be ready by Saturday, March 16, as stated on his signed purchase agreement, so I had a technician drive the car in on Saturday morning, thus working overtime in order for the vehicle to pass emissions(emissions receipt to be submitted)As detailing is always the last item performed when a car is sold, once it passed CT emissions, I called in a detailer, also on overtime, to clean the car and have it prepped for 2:that afternoonI chose to put in all this extra effort because I had promised Mr[redacted] that the car would be ready on Saturday
Around 9:AM, Mr[redacted] called me and I told him that everything was set and that he could pick the vehicle up any time after 2:PMOut of the blue a couple hours later, around 11:AM, Mr[redacted] called and spoke to my receptionist and said "Tell [redacted] that I'm not taking the car." My receptionist then replied, "He is standing right next to me, would you like to talk to him?" to which he responded "I don't want to talk to him, just tell him I'm not taking the car." It is incomprehensible as to why Mr[redacted] changed his mind last minute, especially after all of our extra expenses and extra efforts to deliver the car within a week as he requestedMy service manager had spoken on the phone to Mr[redacted] about the Saturday delivery and everything was acceptable with Mr[redacted]I have the receipt for the part that we wasted no time in ordering, and a receipt for CT emissions which isn't usually done unless a car is being sold to a CT resident
Mr[redacted] had signed both a purchase order stating that Saturday, March 16, was the agreed upon date of delivery and a statement of deposit, which made his $non-refundableWe did everything in our power to prepare the car for delivery and the car was ready on time, as promised
There is a reason for the separate nonrefundable form, it is used just for circumstances like this, the car was ready for delivery as promised and written on the purchase order, the extra expenses that we incurred because of this commitment are satisfied
Our goal as a car dealership is to have the best automobiles possible, at the best prices and customers who are satisfied and pleased with their decision to purchase a vehicle from usOur dealership relies on word-of-mouth from satisfied customers who tell their friends and family about our good business practicesI feel this dealership did as much as possible and more than typically expected to satisfy Mr[redacted] and his family
As a business owner the extra expense to speed up the delivery of the vehicle was at least equal to the deposit givenIt would have been worth the extra efforts had Mr[redacted] purchased the vehicle from my dealership
As a proud business owner for many years I do not like to lose customers
If Mr[redacted] chooses to purchase a car in the future from Imports Unlimited I would consider allowing him to use his receipt of non-refundable as a credit towards purchasing a vehicle in the future
Consumer Response /* (3000, 10, 2013/04/17) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)
This is obviously turning into a He Said She Said case which I am not surprised at allAnd of coarse there are "holes" and "misrepresentation" in the response posted aboveFrom this point I will value my time higher then spending anymore with this tit-for-tack caseIf Mr[redacted] thinks a day will come when he can offer me a "credit towards purchasing a vehicle in the future" he will be waiting for eternity! I will hope that the Revdex.com will keep this in a file to see if any future incidences occur with this dealership
Business Response /* (4000, 12, 2013/05/01) */
I fail to find any holes and misrepresentations which Mr[redacted] indicated and did not point out specifically
Clearly our retail purchase order states the date that we promised to deliver this vehicleThis was met with great expense by my companyFor Mr[redacted] to try and force a refund by tarnishing my reputation with this would be an injustice to Imports Unlimited
There is a reason for a written contractThere is no denial as to us delivering the car on time because we were in the process of doing just thatThe proof that we were delivering the vehicle on time as stated on the retail purchase order is being submitted with this rebuttal along with all receipts for parts ordered and emissions testing, done on the day we were delivering the car (Saturday) one week as planned and according the retail purchase order
I will never know why Mr[redacted] had changed his mind but I do know it is not because of what he claims
