I've used IMVU for roughly six years, I've had a lot of positive experiences but none of those experiences were with the corporate/business side of the imvuWhenever issues popped up that required handling by their "Customer Service Department" or "Help Ticket Desk" it was always a nightmare getting timely responsesEven with my priority being supposedly higher since I was almost always a VIP ( A USD monthly subscription for a few bonus features.) Not only are the responses slow but often crypticWhen I forgot my password to an account, I was forced to rather than simply submit the attached email addressI had to dig up the old credit card I used to make purchases on it along with my driver's license, I'd initially used my military ID but was told that wasn't valid enoughMy MILITARY CAC wasn't valid enough...seriously? Anyways, as time progressed there were small improvements to the overall service most of it in technical features however, little to no improvement with Support

After using IMVU for five/six years now I have experienced many great thingsFirst and foremost, IMVU sparked my interest in graphic design which has now become a life long hobbyUnfortunately, this is the only positive aspect for me on IMVUIn my experience with IMVU, the company has allowed other users to steal my graphic design work by refusing to honor DMCA claims that I have filedThis company has also completely disregarded e-mails sent to the designated DMCA agent, refusing to so much as reply, while what few times they did reply they completely ignored the inquiry made and/or replied and refused to respond to questions askedThe most alarming short coming of this company is the fact that they encourage users to create products for their digital catalog, allowing many to infringe upon brands through logo and designIMVU continues to allow high grossing content creators to infringe upon the rights of brands such as Nike etc due to the income this brings to IMVU, thus making the company just as guilty of infringement as the user creating the infringing contentThis, to me, seems like a serious form of creator income discrimination by IMVUI think of it as a performance ultimatum IMVU has pressed it's users with- make my company tons of money by infringing upon these brands, their logos, and their designs, or I will ban you for using them in the first placeThis is not right to say the leastThe fact that IMVU is allowing so many high grossing creators to use these brands make IMVU's Terms of Service regarding this issue very misleading and confusing as it appears that, perhaps, the language of the agreement was not as it seems and many users then partake in creating these products only to loose their account for doing soI may never get my account back for being mislead into thinking making content of popular real world brands was alright by IMVU's own disregard of their own rule, but the very least I can do is warn other creators that may read this so that they are not mislead into thinking that using brands such as Nike is acceptable only to loose their account as I didNot to mention to loose the money one would invest in creating products and other expenses associated with creating on IMVUIn summary, a great many creators have made this same innocent mistake due to being mislead by IMVU's negligence in enforcing their own rules on creators that make the company higher amounts of money through it's creator programEthically this company should enforce it's rules on every creator, irrespective of income

Since IMVU has been becoming more and more unfair and disrespectful to their customers, even going as far as to call their most loyal customers like criminalsRecently they pulled a mass-disablement of over 1000s of accounts because one of their partnering sites gave them a bad website that worked incorrectly in which they'd advetised on their site and many people usedThey provided absolutely no protection for their customers and blamed the USERS instead of the partnering site for the problems that aroseHorrible company, and they definitely need to be looked into

After eight years on imvu I have had the last I can take of it
When I joined there were people, there were excellent developers both amature and professionalBut then the IMVU Reich beganFirst with a major change to the user interface which in my opinion, but the change to the layout of the screen broke one of the most expensive sets of items in my inventoryThey cut the sound clip length of items I had with full length songs to seconds regardless of whether they were a violation of copyright or not
After numerous trouble tickets about my broken items which they tried blaming on the developer who had long since left imvu, the issue was never resolved
But what gives me the terrible distaste for IMVU is its lack of concern for what its users wantThey tried to say IMVU resellers were ruing the economy of IMVU, no, it created if because resellers were developers selling their credits back to people to earn real world money for their hard workNow they're taking away the in client inbox and forcing me to open my web browser to check my messages and missed invitesAfter over replies to the announcement of this change complaining about it (and this is just a test section of the user base which I am in) there still has been no official reply from imvu about why or whether it will be changed back
Do not spend your money on imvu, you'd be better of on other places that have the same kind of thing

I am a long term user of IMVU; I have invested several thousands of dollars into my accounts and a Dev of productsI have multiple accounts and had a misunderstanding with one of my accounts that resulted it being disabledI contacted IMVU and explained my plight they believed that I was sincere and gave me back my accountBut when they returned the account back to me there is a gltich in the software and I contacted them to fix itInstead I got treated like sm of the earth and accused of fraudulant use and threatend to have my account taken away by the assisting agent! I was appalled and had thought maybe I was being "Punked" and expected Ashton Kucher pop out from somewhere! I have been on since 2007, I have always respected the rules and have a clean recored with IMVU! One misunderstanding they ruined years of loyal patronage! IMVU has gotten so bad, I see more ppl leaving then joining! Thank you IMVU for being so rude and nasty! (note I never write reviews but had to)

Spent thousands of dollars on this site, but was disabled after being a loyal customer for yearsGot disabled for breaking their "terms of buying" according to their help ticket staffNo where on their site is there a "terms of buying"They literally just makeup rules and say you broke them, so they can discontinue service and walk away with your moneyThen they refuse to say what you did to break that ruleHorrible company

IMVU, Inc started out as a fascinating and fun experience for meIt was a place to meet new people and make friends from around the worldI enjoyed it quite a lot up until the past few years when IMVU changed quite a lot of things and made the service just absolutely terribleTheir customer service is non-existent quite literally, and they are only out to make money nowNot only would I not recommend IMVU to anyone, but I would tell people to outright avoid IMVU as it is just a leech that will suck your wallet dry and not give a damn when you have genuine concerns that need addressing

I have been a loyal customer for yearsThey ban you without giving you a chance to dispute or fight a claim that was made against you, especially when you know it was someone who did it for petty reasonsEven when you prove that you did not violate their terms of service, they ignore it and punish you anywayThey claim to understand your frustration? Ha! Biggest sack of bt if there ever was oneIMVU is the worst company to ever exist in my opinion and I strongly feel they should be shut downI have invested thousands of dollars on them and what do I get in return? A lousy day ban for something I didn't even doThey are nothing but a scam, they steal people's money and don't even help anyoneThe whole banning system is ridiculous and shouldn't even be allowed unless an actual crime is committedI have also been banned in the past for more than days, I am a content creator and when they ban you, your shop disappears and you aren't able to earn any credits or money, so they cause harm to your virtual businessThey don't even have a real customer service center, it's all automated and gets you no whereThe few times I've reached someone in the billing department, they were highly unprofessional and copped an attitude with meAlso, IMVU's "music store" is a scam all in itselfThey force you to only put two songs per artist/album in a mix you create, which makes no sense at all when we're the ones paying for the music with our own moneyWhat gives IMVU the right to tell us what to do with OUR music? It's bullstAlso, they aren't legally using the music they sell, they don't pay the artist and yet wonder why they are constantly getting suedI look forward to the day this company goes under! The CEO and all his employees belong in federal prison

IMVU is funDon't get me wrongBut they are horrible at being well involved and affiliated with their membersThey also have a lot of glitches and issues(which is understood but limited.) It's ridiculous how they can suddenly decide to ban someone's account(mind you they put so much time, effort, and money into), without providing proof of the reason it was bannedThis actually happened to me and it's disappointing

As a long time user of the IMVU Client and as a frequent buyer of Virtual Products, I indulged in buying virtual currency through a reseller since it is cheaper and they do not blacklist my debit card, unlike IMVU's actual site. As of today though,IMVU has decided that they are going to remove the resellers, where the Creators exchange their virtual currency for actual money. And that also means that people who don't want to spend a fortune on virtual money will have to pay full price for something that's really not all that special. Yes, IMVU is primarily seen as an outlet of fun, for me, so buying the currency cheaply is easy on my wallet. It's just extremely frustrating that IMVU decided on its own that it's "better for the community" to get rid of something that literally EVERYONE enjoys. The IMVU CEO is just a greedy rag. I mean, yes, the resellers sell the currency cheaper than the actual site, so IMVU's not necessarily getting the revenue that they want, but if they lowered the prices on their currency, maybe they'd actually MAKE MONEY. But what do we know, right? Because the people that actually enjoy the virtual reality of IMVU and want to make it a better place don't know anything, right? It seems as if IMVU takes its users for granted and think that they can do whatever they want, no matter if it makes people mad or not. I'm a disgruntled individual who is more than angry with my IMVU experience. I will never recommend it to anyone UNTIL they fix their mistake.

I would like to recant my previous review of this company. I am down right humiliated! This company's practices are embarrassing! I needed help to get my account restored and the employee said it was finished, but it was not. This was after a help ticket that took FOUR days to respond to, and the resolution is not even valid. It has been a while since I filed a help ticket the old fashioned way, but no wonder why people have been complaining. This is awful! I would no longer recommend users to sign up. The only reason why anyone may have stuck around is from all of the years of hardwork they put into it.

IMVU you seriously need to reconsider how you do business.

My review is forever negative because I am also victim of IMVU Inc. Discrimination and ways of correction we spend money monthly on VIP memberships just to find out a "curse" word is strong enough to land you a permanent ban. IMVU Inc. users have civil rights of speech and there are variable ages online from all over the world I believe in these terms of service they should verify they're ways of scamming the users and not make us feel extremely violated monetarily because some of us are placed in having the opportunity to be on a online game and profit from it as we also invest what ever that situation may be weather you are over weight or crippled and cannot be up and about in the real world so we find a place such as virtual world to survive and IMVU Inc. fails to find ways to do that.

I spoke to IMVU staff and they constantly failed to come to common grounds with me about something so simple such as the correction to certain products that were created for IMVU they rather take all your investments and throw it in the trash and call it a permanent ban then find a better way to discipline such meaningless actions like a voice box with music that has a curse word on it.

This is a violation in all levels of civil rights from a business that makes profit from people all around the world and I am dedicated to continue to press on the subject because I am not alone with this opinion. I strongly advise they give the users of IMVU a new way to negotiate the terms of service rather than take our money an make us feel terrorized and unwelcome in virtual grounds.

According to IMVU Billing Department staff "ICE" & Supervisor "Luis" ID# [redacted] they are unable to return a permanently banned account that was banned due to a voice box with music containing a curse word in it and they refused to come to an agreement of any type even though a formal apology was sent and filed by the user as mentioned before IMVU Inc. fails to apply justice in they're ways of service leaving a vast majority of customers like myself wondering if I should continue to place my support and money in to a world that was once a peaceful and a fun way to entertain my time.

they do what they want.. there is not a chance to reason with them..taking steps against their own deving community.. its sucks.

While IMVU is a great way to meet new people around the world with similar interests I would not recommend this program for the following reasons:

* Their TOS (Terms of Service) makes it so that they can make changes at any time they want and there is nothing that users can do about it

* The majority of the products are made by the users themselves. Where this is wonderful for users to add their own touch to their rooms because of the way that things are allowed into the program, reviewed and passed/failed by fellow users and creators there are many products on the program that I would never want to see on a site for people under the age of 21

* The staff and help desk though polite in their responses tend to use copy/paste methods and often do not resolve the issue upon the first time they respond

* Staff often make mistakes and ban accounts when they shouldn’t have and do not compensate users for the time that their account was not accessible to them. Two personal examples I can state was peer review being revoked by people who had no way of knowing that products had hidden triggers on them prior to the peer review process being changed and when I reported someone asking me for sexual favours my account was banned as well even though I had said no and reported the conversation and blocked the person. I had to go through a very long, convoluted and confusing process just to file a help ticket which still took over 3 days to resolve.

* Because of the many loopholes in their rules and reporting process many products and rooms that are not suitable to minors are available in the GA section which is supposed to be family friendly and with the way the current reporting process is done it is impossible to point out to staff when GA products can be put together for sexual positions, or to flag the room for having AP content even though everything is GA. Another example it took over 2 weeks, hours of my own time and finally having to find someone higher up at IMVU and not the help desk to get a room full of sexual positions taken down. Hours of my own limited time wasted in trying to keep the site safe for minors.

* There are many ripped meshes from video games that are allowed on the site as per the TOS only those people responsible for the intellectual property may request to have it removed. So it is full of products made by other companies, and registered trademarks as a result.

* The site is often slow and lags and has multiple times where it has been down

I've been a user of IMVU for 6 years now and have no idea why i'm still there. in those 6 years thay have been nothing but uncaring for the users, developers (which I am), every since I can remember. Music Triggers and Music tracks basically stolen from me without refunding. IMVU has lost alot of users due to uncaring for the users and their suggestions and/or problems. when I joined IMVU there was 150,00 users online at any given time and now it barely reaches 80,000. IMVU doesn't see this??? thare blind to anything even their users counts. Shake my head. 6 years of decline, when will IMVU wake up and smell the coffee? probably not until the site goes belly up! Well, I guess that's their problem. I have tought about deleting all my accounts and leaving IMVU myself (which I might do anyhow). when that tie comes all I have to say is R.I.P. IMVU!

since there recent lawsuit pertaining copy right music they are removing multiple items site wide and they are only refunding USA citizens but those outside of USA get nothing and I am not the only one that feels like they are not treating non US citizens as equals which is discrimination and also they are stealing from me since I used real money to buy the virtual currency to buy the products there taking
they shouldnt even have a global site if this is how there going to treat there non USA users

It deeply upsets me that the personnel incharge of IMVU 3d social network have not been living up the expectations of IMVU users, the implication of flagging rooms was started for a good cause but at the moment I think there has been a mishandling of the situation when owners of rooms get flagged for no solid reason AND ALSO are shut off by expressing their own opinions - resulting in inappropriate suspension from the site. As you would expect us to respect your rules and regulations, we expect you to respect our freedom of speech. Please, do look into this matter.

IMVU's customer service is outrageously impersonal and unhelpful. One receives copied response after copied response, no matter how professionally one mentions his or her problems. Another major disappointment, and something that shows that IMVU does not care about it customers but only about earning money, is the fact that they do not allow for phonecalls related to issues other than billing issues. IMVU allows for its customers to live chat with IMVU ONLY once they have purchased a subscription to a monthly paid VIP contract.

IMVU does not care about its customers, and unclearly, blunty, and impersonally states that one has been in violation, with the lack of SPECIFIC information as to what exactly went wrong. After being a member of IMVU since 2005, I have a terrible user experience with IMVU and have come to the conclusion that I will not EVER recommend IMVU to anyone, more specifically so even strongly urge anyone that it comes to to stay as far away from IMVU as they can.

Guess it's time to try Second Life.

I have been a member of IMVU for many years. The experience has never been perfect...sometimes the site will crash, but that happens pretty much any site and they are always quick to respond and resolve the problems. Their customer service representatives are downright delightful to speak with. I have used live chat a few times to resolve some minor issues (sometimes on my end) or for to inquire about other things. They have always been friendly and listened to me. I did get a temporary ban for a product I submitted, it was unfair and they were pretty quick to resolve this as well. It did occur over the weekend so I did not expect it to be attended to IMMEDIATELY. I think a lot of people freak out when they can not be catered to right away. Having something like an account banned that you put years of work into can make an impact. Sometimes you just need patience and to wait for people to do their jobs, just like any other business. I do think they have a few too many promotions that they spam the inboxes with....(like a sale everyday) and it makes it seem a bit..less like a special deal if they are on all of the time. IMVU Next Beta seems a bit...pointless compared to the client. The phone ap gives the ability to chat with your friends on the go, but it is not a good substitute for the computer application and I would not expect it to be either. They have made a few changes that have upset people, like taking away the ability to create for free but you have to think about things on their end as well. Removing the resellers does help prevent fraud as much as some developers grew to rely on them. They are really great with account recovery. They are currently restoring the account I made as a kid years ago. It is pretty exciting to be able to get something back like that. Every other site I have been with...if I forgot the password or the username, I was out of luck.

NEED BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND NOT JUST FOR BILLING INFORMATION! AND YOU NEED TO ACT MORE LIKE YOU CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS MONEY AND TIME LIKE WE CARE ABOUT YOURS INSTEAD OF JUST TAKING OUR MONEY AND NOT CARING ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE!
