In Cahoots

Review: On Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 5:52pm, I called Incahoots Dance Hall in San Diego, CA to verify that the dance lessons were free and that I would be admitted into the bar free to take the dance lesson. The girl answering the phone said yes the dance lessons are free and I would be admitted into the bar for free for the dance lesson. I asked what time the dance lesson begins and she said 6:30pm and I also asked what the lesson was but she didn't know. I repeated that I did not have to pay a cover for the dance lesson and the girl said that was correct.

When I arrived at the bar at 6:18pm I was told there was a cover to get in. The owner of the bar was standing outside the door and I told him I had just called and was told the dance lesson was free and that there was no cover for the dance lesson. The owner stated the girl was new and that was NOT correct that there is a cover for this evening. I said that was not right as I had just verified with his personnel and he said "I don't care". I said I drove all the way over for the free dance lesson and his own staff verified there was no cover for the dance lesson and the owner said if I don't like it I don't have to come here. I said is this the customer service offered and he said "if you don't like it to bad and you don't have to come here". I said you are being very rude and he blew up and started yelling at me and then said "you are banned from this bar forever".

My complaint is that they advertise free dance lessons. I called to verify their policy. A hair and switch was pulled on me with the ultimate result of the owner screaming at me because his worker gave the wrong information and he chose to ban me from his establishment when he has false advertising and is responsible for his employees and the information they give out to customers.Desired Settlement: The establishment should be fined for false advertisement and delivering false information regarding their service of free dance lessons.

This organization practices discrimination!!!! It is 2015 and sexism should not be acceptable. The managers name is [redacted]. On September 6, 2015 he was requested to discuss the discriminatory policy this business practices. He was extremely demeaning and aggressive when speaking to the young lady addressing the problem and explained to her his feelings on why different kinds of people should be treated differently. This is discrimination and there is no way around it.

Review: I was over aggressively assaulted by one of the bouncers at this location. On the night of November 6th, I was at Incahoots, standing next to the dance floor waiting on my friends to finish up for the night. A friend of mine tripped over my foot and stumbled a bit, complete accident, it was crowded in there. A bouncer immediately confronted him in an aggressive manner telling him to leave. I calmly turned around and explained that it he had tripped over my foot and was completely fine, not by any means overly intoxicated as we were communicating very clearly. At the point the aggression turned to me and he asked if I wanted to go outside as well. I answered, No as I was just explaining that there was no need for anyone to leave due to a slight misunderstanding. At the point the bouncer stepped right into my face and told me I was leaving, I responded by saying " are u going to physically assault me?" which then he did as I was attacked from the front and behind, I put my arms out to show no signs of resistance and was then choked out to the point of almost blacking out and came to outside. The manager was clearly uneducated and could barely even communicate with me, and after speaking with the owner the next day I see that must be a trend in the management there. not to mention they then would not let me retrieve my debit card or belongings from inside after the incident. I have sustained injuries to my neck, shoulder, and thumb on my dominant hand.Desired Settlement: I would like that bouncer to fired for over aggressive force on a costumer and my belongings returned to me with an apology.
