On 03/17/17 Mr. *** received an estimate for $3114.22 from IDA to install a 4400 lbs ACE Ford dump kit. This kit is made specifically for his model truck. A deposit was made on 3/20/17 in the amount of $2449.22 to secure the parts and schedule the install. On 3/31/17 [redacted] dropped his truck off... to have the parts installed. The truck was completed and paid for on 4/3/17. [redacted] did not return to IDA until July of 2017 stating his truck was damaged from the hoist not being installed correctly. At which point we reviewed the install and informed him at that time the hoist did not fail and the truck appeared to be over loaded. We also observed a steel cage added to the top of the bed to increase the amount of load compacity above and beyond the top of the truck bed. Approximate weight of added steel is 300lbs. Customer was asked for weight tickets on the loads he was carrying and he said he didn’t have them anymore? He did inform us he hauls grass clippings which many yard waste facilities will not take because of the they are to heavy and once they start to compost they become even heavier. He then demanded that we repair his truck because we are the ones that caused the damage. We offered an estimate of the work we thought the truck would need to make the truck work for his needs he declined the repair. We again explained the strength and integrity of the bed had been compromised from the damage and the only repairs we could do would be to re-in force the bed where the damage had taken place at no charge. He agreed to having us reinforce the bed, tossed his keys on the counter and left. We attempted to explain to him that we would not have the parts available on hand to do this and he could schedule to come back. He continued to walk away and left his truck here for several weeks until we reached the date scheduled. The truck was picked up on 8/1/17 and he was satisfied with the agreed upon repairs made at that time. In closing this is news to us because he has not even called or stopped by in the two months he has had the truck since the final repairs. While we make every attempt to have satisfied customers we cannot satisfy his needs when his expectations exceed the equipment he purchased.

Mr. [redacted] over loaded his vehicle, the weight capacity for the hoist he requested was for one thousand pounds. He was informed that if he wanted anything larger he would have to modify the truck bed which he did not want to do. when he returned with the truck the bed was twisted do to it being over loaded. He requested a estimate for a heavy duty landscape bed and hoist. Once he was provided with the estimate he declined. It was then that he requested for us to repair his truck bed, we informed him that it was not something we cannot repair but we could reinforce it for him. He agreed to having us reinforcing the existing bed. The original manager he spoke does not longer work here but that has nothing to do with his truck situation. When he arrived with his vehicle it was closer to the end of May, I can say because it was about two weeks after I started my position here at Independent Dealer Accessories. I personally explained to him that we would not be able to get his truck in until the beginning of August for the repairs. He was completely ok with that time line. He picked his vehicle up from our location on 8/1/17 and was happy with the repairs that took place. He also informed me that he was going to speak with his wife about having us install the proper bed and hoist needed for the type of material he was hauling and would call us back to schedule that install. However, we have not heard back from him so I assumed he was not ready yet. He was denied a refund due to the improper use of the product/parts that was originally install on his truck. He insisted that he did not over load it however he also stated that he only uses this truck to dump grass clippings so he does not fill it full. However, when we request a weight ticket from the location he dumped at he stated he no longer had it. Grass clippings are very heavy and to fill a standard long bed pickup truck water level with them will weigh more than 1000 lbs. considering he installed a metal wall around the top of the bed that can weigh up to about 300lbs alone. Before receiving this message, we were unaware of his feelings about our company.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:1) They said not true about I pick up my truck and not return until July, 2017. The truth was I called and came to IDA several time from May, June and July but it seems they don't want to fix it, try to make appointment next week, next week ....several time.2) In 2nd of June, 2017, my friend called to the office and I came to meet manager ( but he didn't came to meet me , somehow),  Finally I met Kim B[redacted] and she told me bring my truck in July 5th. I bring it there, so they try to refuse again, then I recognize if I don't leave my truck there, they won't fix it as they did several time before ( 3 month ready ), therefore I left the Truck and key over there, then walk away, if I don't do it, I don't know when they try fix it for me.3) I am very not satisfice after last fix in August 1st, because it looks not really difference, still weak and unbalance. I asking to uninstall the part, return my truck to original and refund my money, so they refuse to do that. I drive my truck home and fail at first use again.4) Before I file to complain, I call to office several time asking to talk with manager, but they said he busy and asking my phone number, so never call me back.5) I can provide my friend name and phone number for witness and certify receipt how weigh I dump. It's not over loads at all. Why the hoist can lift up if it's over ?
Sincerely,
[redacted]
