Review: I'm contacting you in regards to Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, a video game which came out for PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 30, 2014. Atlus advertised that the game would feature free character downloadable content (DLC) for the first week following the release of the video game. I even have an email from Atlus detailing that the content would be free until October 7, 2014. On October 6, 2014, I attempted to download the content but the price had been changed to $4.99 on the PSN Store, which is a digital marketplace to buy content from for all PlayStation consoles. Atlus had issues releasing the character dlc for Xbox 360 users, so they extended the promotion until October 8, 2014 for Xbox users yet Sony users had the price changed on October 6, a full day earlier than what was advertised. On October 6, I emailed Atlus, but still have not received a reply. I also tweeted to them on October 6 and 7, but neither tweet has received a response. I can provide screenshots if necessary. I called Atlus on October 7, and spoke to a female employee who explained to me that Atlus was aware of the situation but they were unsure how they were going to proceed and were still investigating. On October 8, I called again and asked if they were going to bring the promotion back, to which a male employee told me that he was not aware of any situation regarding the dlc. I believe that this situation is false advertisement, and Atlus has made no attempt to rectify this mistake or address the situation publicly. There are also other users who have posted on their official Facebook page about the DLC prices changing prematurely, but Atlus has not responded to any of those posts as well. Here is a tweet supporting the claim that they would be free the first week. [redacted]Desired Settlement: I believe that Atlus should bring back the promotion for at least one full day, to make up for the fact that the prices were changed prematurely despite Atlus advertising that it would be available until October 7, 2014.

Review: I bought code of princess for my 3ds strictly because it said it was co op and I could play with people over the internet. The packaging, nor the booklet states anywhere that the co op play is region locked and you are limited with who you can play with. The onlyReason this game was bought was so myself and a friend who loves in another country could play together. We have had no issues with other co op games except for this one. We both received the game Wednesday ( mine by mail, his was downloaded ) and the first thing we tried to do was the co op play. We became very frustrated we couldn't find each other in the lobby we had made. After doing a google search we found out that this game is indeed region locked. Neither one of us would of wasted our money on this game if we knew we could not play together. I believe it's false advertising to not say on the packaging that co op play is limited. Because this gameIs opened I am unable to return it for a refund. There is nothing wrong with the gameItself, just that it doesn't represent what it promised.Desired Settlement: All I want is the $30 I'm out for buying a game that does not offer free region co play because it does not say anywhere in the packaging or booklet that it is limited.

Response:

Hi [redacted],

This is in response to the consumer complaint we received recently (ID: [redacted]).

A customer contacted us stating that they’d like a refund for their copy of Code of Princess, a game we released last year on the Nintendo 3DS platform. Their reasoning for receiving a refund is because they couldn’t play the game with their friend in another country. While the consumer claimed that they had no problems with cross region play with other games, we can confidently say that this is not always the norm. It’s always been completely up to the publisher how they want to present the multiplayer aspect of their game.

Furthermore, we have nothing to do with the release of the game in other countries. ATLUS is the publisher in the US, but the publishers in Europe and Japan were another company called Agatsuma. Because all versions were released at different times, it’s difficult to guarantee any sort of cross compatibility.

Unfortunately this is something we cannot put on the packaging of our products due to packaging guidelines set by the first party company, Nintendo. We’re sorry that the consumer feels misled, but the misunderstanding was the result of an assumption made by the consumer. The game itself has plenty of other things to offer including a single player mode that offers hours of gameplay and local and online multiplayer that can be enjoyed with online opponents across the United States.

If there’s any other questions you have about this matter, feel free to contact us again.
