This letter is in response to a complaint placed on Indiana All-Star Driving School, Inc. ID: [redacted] This complaint was made by Mr. [redacted].
31.25pt 0.25in 0.0001pt 0in;">Mr. [redacted]s daughter is enrolled in our driver education program. At this time, she has completed approximately 26 of the total 36 hours required and has actually missed one of her scheduled drives. On the date in question his daughter had a drive at our Noblesville location, after office hours, at around 4:00pm. We had two drivers working at this time. One driver (the one scheduled to complete her drive) was completing a drive that began at 3:00pm (drives are approximately one hour in duration), while the other instructor had completed his 3:00pm drive and had his 4:00pm student in the car ready to begin the next drive. (Note: The drive hours may be off by an hour or two being later, but I believe these hours are correct). Mr. [redacted]s daughter's driver while completing the 3:00pm drive got stuck behind a funeral procession, an event completely out of his control, and made the 3:00pm drive go 20 minutes over, thus pushing the next drive (Mr. [redacted]s drive back 20 minutes). The instructor who needed to begin his 4:00 drive assured the girl that instructor would be back shortly, and instead of requiring the girl to wait outside as he locked the office, allowed her to sit in the office and wait for her instructor to return. Our office contains no dangerous materials, devices, or equipment. It was 4 o'clock in the afternoon in a highly visible retail strip mall and the student assured the instructor she was completely comfortable waiting for her instructor. The instructor did absolutely the correct thing allowing the student to wait inside our office as it was in the student's best interest. Before Mr. [redacted]s daughter's instructor returned from the drive another instructor showed up early for his shift, contacted me and asked if he should go ahead and complete the drive. l gave him the go ahead and the drive was completed without incident. Following this situation Mr. [redacted] contacted me, and while explaining the unusual situation, he used profane language, shouted, screamed, and hung up the phone. His wife, on the next day, then showed up while class was being held and made another scene in our office. Even after these two inappropriate incidents we still reassured Mr. [redacted] we were more than happy to complete the services in which they registered, and they could make up the 2 missed classes and schedule the remaining 4 drives. They said they weren't interested and wanted a refund. I explained to them they signed our terms and conditions which clearly state our "No Refund Policy", and that her daughter had already completed 70% of the services required. He wrote more vulgarity and we did not hear anything more. We are still willing to complete the services originally requested. Let us know if we can be of any further assistance. Thanks. S. I completely reject the offer being made. Following are my reasons.
Let’s stick to the facts
POOR BUSINESS PRACTICES - UNATTENEDED MINOR:
Since the instructor was late arriving to my daughter’s regularly scheduled class, (Not after hours as indicated by the business) they made a gross error in judgement by leaving her in an unattended business locked within the building. At no point was she given an option or asked if it was acceptable. The personnel who left her there departed with a comment “I assume you will be ok”
NO CONTACT/COORDINATION:
Common sense should have prevailed and someone from the business should have contacted the parents to inform us of the scenario. This never occurred. It just so happens that this business chooses to operate with o staff in a building.
OPPURTUNITY FOR RESOLUTION/FURTHER POOR BUSINESS PRACTICES:
Given the nature of what happened I allowed my daughter to return for course completion. During the next class, the instructor openly poked fun of the scenario calling out the incident in front of the entire class. Furthermore, an instructor challenged my wife on the scenario when she arrived at 3:45 prior to class beginning at 5:00PM. Fortunately another student’s parent spoke up at the time correcting him to indicate leaving my daughter alone was the wrong thing to do.
INEPT BUSINESS/LACK OF TRUST AND SAFE ENVIROMENT
Given the entire scope of the scenario, I owe it to my daughter to choose a business that practices better ethics with a safer environment for learning. I strongly recommend a full refund and the following elements. The owner of this business should consider attending courses on proper business practices beginning with communication and professionalism.
