Review: I started Electrical program in 1/2012. I attended for 25 weeks of a 13 month program. During this period the program couldn't keep a teacher, we went through at least 3 different teachers that interchanged about 8 times. No consistency and seldom any learning. Teaching consisted of being read to, as you were in grade school. No hands on and NO teaching. The class quickly fell from 11 to 13 men to just 3 of us by 7/2012 because it was a waste of people's time and money. I struggled to learn the material on my own because it was something I wanted to do but it finally became much too overwehlming to learn on my own. All tests were open book because they knew we weren't being taught. The teacher would step outside the classroom so that all could share their answers. The 2nd page of each test was the hands on portion that we never, NEVER had to take because there was NO hands on experience. They graded the tests anyway, I don't know what they did with this required piece of the test. When I finally left after 7 months of not learning anything from them and paying over $7,000 for these 7 months of not being taught, I reached out the owner Mr. [redacted] on 8/28/12. I implored him to right this wrong, Teachers wouldn't stay so they had office staff "read" to us. He did not deny any of this. I requested that he reimburse me for services not rendered. On 9/4/12 he denied the request saying I did well on the tests. I let it go because I didn't have the energy. Now, 4/2013, a collection agency suddenly says I owe over $180 for fees/tuition after never receiving a bill for this. Just more proof of the scan that is this school. This place is a scam and a sham and no one should have to waste thousands of hard earned dollars here! I'm sorry I didn't write in and leave a complaint sooner.

Product_Or_Service: Electrical Training

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

An entire refund is requested as services were not rendered. Mr. [redacted] needs to stand behind his product and in this case, his product, at least this time, did not work. He needs to take responsability for it.

IMTI stands behind the quality of our teachers and the methods used for training. Often different instructors are used for different subjects in order to utilize the instructors strength. This student had instructors that well exceeded the regulations set by the State of New York and the ACCSC. Including being licensed in the State of NY and recognized by trained by the National Center for Construction Education and Research. This students last date of attendance was 7/31/12, when he stopped attending class and did not contact the school. The beginning of the course contains more theory as it is necessary for the students to understand the concepts and safety portions of the program. Had the student completed the course he would have received both the theory and hands-on necessary for a career in the electrical field. IMTI graduates are placed with many electrical companies in the NYC area who are extremely pleased with the graduates knowledge and ability. These employers come back to IMTI for their hiring needs often. All withdrawal and refund calculations were applied to this students account as was set in the contract he signed and is required by the State of New York. The student received a letter and a bill on August 20th 2012 indicating he owed the school $182.55. The letter clearly stated that IMTI would make payment arrangements for the balance, however, if he did not pay the case would be referred to a collections agency. It is unfortunate that this student did not want to complete his program and begin a new career.
