Infinity Home Renovations Inc. Reviews (3)

This letter is in response to Infinity Home Renovations Inc. I have read the letter submitted to the Revdex.com in regards to complaint number 10090082. Although most of what the owner has stated is true, there are some issues that still need addressed and clarified. On February 5, 2014 my husband and I signed a contract and the work was supposed to begin April 7, 2014. Mr. [redacted] was given $3867.00 upon signing the contract. The work did not start on schedule and was delayed at least a week. Unfortunately, this was the first of many times Mr. [redacted] was late to our house or simply did not show up. This was frustrating for my family. When [redacted] started the job, he was given another $3867.00. This again was according to the contract that 1/3 of the total cost is due upon signing, another 1/3 at the start of the job, and the last 1/3 upon completion. Once the floor did get finished, the grout did not have a uniform color and Mr. [redacted] agreed. At this point, he did not grind out the grout as stated in his letter. He grouted over the original application. When that proved not to solve the issue, we discussed other options. We came to the conclusion that the grout needed to be ground out and re-done. I went [redacted] picked out a new grout color and even purchased a grout sealer based upon the recommendation of a Home Depot employee. Because the contract states that Infinity provides “customers with a one year satisfaction guarantee” I should not be charged extra for this. He even agreed that the job was not satisfactory. In addition, in the last couple weeks, we noticed that the grout is cracking in a particular spot. Because Mr. [redacted] is not responding to our phone calls, we have been unable to communicate this to him. While the floor was being repaired, [redacted] did go and file for the building permit. [redacted] then informed us that there was not a survey done on the property. My husband and I then contacted a surveyor. The survey showed a property line encroachment unknown to us. This meant that a hearing needed to be scheduled. After the hearing on May 22, 2014 [redacted] did explain that he could not build the extension because of the approximately 2 square feet of property, located under our roof that belongs to our neighbor. It must also be said that regardless of this piece of property, our neighbor still did not want us to build the extension. During this week Mr. [redacted] and I discussed that because we were not going to be able to build that a refund was owed to us. Mr. [redacted] agreed and was to give us a breakdown of the cost of the kitchen. I have yet to receive this breakdown. While [redacted] was repairing and demoing our kitchen, an issue came up with our boiler for the hot water heat. Part of the demo as stated in the contract was to cap off a pipe for the hot water. Unfortunately, the job became more complex than originally thought and [redacted] said that he would not be able to fix that part of the job. We had to call another company that specialized in hot water heating. That cost was an additional $570 to fix. In order to re-rout the water line, a hole in the ceiling was needed. Because the company would not fix the hole in the ceiling, I asked [redacted] if he would fix it and he said yes. Unfortunately, the hole is still not completely finished. I do not feel that he should be paid for this. On Monday June 2nd [redacted] was supposed to come to our house to finish the repairs to the ceiling. He never showed up. When I texted him, he said he was stuck in New Castle and could not come. My husband and I were very upset because he never communicated to us that he wasn’t coming and my husband had re-arranged his schedule to be home. He did come the next day and put a coat of plaster on the ceiling and said it needed one maybe 2 more applications. At this time, June 3rd, we again discussed the refund and I again requested the breakdown of the kitchen. He said he was going to e-mail it to me that night. He did not. On June 5th, I texted him again saying that I did not receive an e-mail. He texted me back saying that is was still “working in New Castle. I will have it all ready to you this weekend.” By Monday June 9th I had not received the e-mail. I texted him, called him and e-mailed him with no response. At this point my husband and I became concerned that he was not willing to return our money. I then submitted my complaint to the Revdex.com. We then found out that he went on vacation. He never communicated this to us. It seemed to us that he went on vacation with our money. I also sent a certified letter to Infinity Home Renovations, which was never claimed. It was only on June 18th that he responded to me via e-mail because he received the complaint that I had sent. He said again that he owes us a refund. Again, I did not receive a break down of the cost. In my e-mail back to him I expressed that I would rather talk about this issue and that we should have received the refund weeks prior to his departure. On June 25th, my husband tried to reach [redacted] again and left him a voice mail. [redacted] did not respond. In the letter sent to you by Mr. [redacted], he said that a refund of 3867.00 is what he agreed to. He never gave me a price. We believe that more is owed to us. The total cost of the work, according to the contract was $11,600. To date $7734 has been given to him. If he only gives us back the $3867.00, that would mean that the kitchen work, which is only approximately 100 square feet, and the demo, some of which had to be completed by another company and the ceiling that is unfinished, was costing $3867. This cannot be true, even if this price includes the permit fees. Other estimates that we had prior hiring Infinity Home Renovations never came close to this amount. We want to pay him a fair amount for the work that he did do but we believe a refund of $4500 is owed. This would put the cost of the kitchen floor and demo at $3234. Again, we believe that is a fair amount for the work. We have waited long enough for this refund and want this resolved within 2 weeks time. Thank for your time. My husband and I look forward to a timely response.

IN REGUARDS TO COMPLAINT ID [redacted] SUBMITTED ON 6/13/2014,

AFTER THE GROUT CURED WE CAME BACK THE FOLLOWING DAY TO CHECK OUT

AFTER THE 3~ APPLICATION THE [redacted] WERE SATISFIED.
MEANWHILE DURING THIS TIME I HAD APPLIED FOR THE BUILDING PERMIT TO

ONCE THE [redacted] GOT A SURVEY APPROX 2 WEEKS FROM THE START OF THIS
JOB, I ONCE AGAIN WENT TO APPLY FOR THE BUILDING PERMIT AND WAS
DENIED BECAUSE THE PROPERTY LINE INDICATED THAT THE NEW ADDITION
WOULD BE ON THE NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS PROPERTY. AND SO I REQUESTED TO
HAVE A HEARING WITH THE ZONING BOARD TO TRY TO GET THIS ADDTIION
APPROVED BY ASKING FORA ZERO VARIANCE. TH~ HEARING HOWEVER WAS
SCHEDULED FOR S-22-14 APPROX 4 WEEKS AFTER THE INITIAL START OP THE

NOTICE AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION, THEY BOTH WANTED ME TO
CONTINUE TO TRY TO GET THE ADDITION APPROVED
AT THE HEARING THE NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR WAS ADDIMENT AT NOT LETTING
THE ADDITION BE BUILT ON HER 2 SQUARE FT OF PROPERTY AND THE TWO
HOMEOWNERS WOULD HAVE TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION ON THERE OWN
AND ZONING WOULD NOT APPROVE OF THE BUILDING PLANS.
I AGAIN REACHED OUT TO THE [redacted] AND SAT DOWN TO EXPLAIN THE
ISSUES WITH THE NEIGHBOR, AND THEY HAD TOLD ME THEY WERE
CONTACTING A LAWYER TO FURTHER GET THIS RESOLVED BECAUSE THEY
WANTED TO GET THIS ADDITION BUILT AND THEY NEEDED A FEW DAYS AND
WOULD CALL ME ONCE THEY MADE A DECISION.
IN THE MEAN TIME I WAS AT THEIR HOME REPAIRING A GARAGE CEILING THAT

MENTION THE CHANGE IN GROUT AFTER THE APPLICATION.
ONCE I HAD FIGURED OUT THE BALANCE DUE BACK TO THEM I WOULD ISSUE A
CHECK FOR THE REFUND. IT IS IN NO MEANS $ 5,0O0~00
HOWEVER THE FOLLOWING DAY I HAD A SCHEDULED TRIP PLANNED AND WAS
OUT OF THE COUNTRY FOR 10 DAYS AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTACT THE

NOW RESPONDING TO THIS COMPLAINT AND WILL BE IN CONTACT WITH THE
[redacted] TO ISSUE THESE FUNDS.
TOTAL PAID
DEPOSIT OF $3867.00 WHICH IN THE CONTRACT IS AT MY DISPOSAL FOR
AQUIRING PERMITS AND ORDERING MATERIALS IF THEY DO NOT CANCEL IN 3
DAYS AFTER SIGNING. THIS WAS USED TO COMPLETE ALL THE WORK DESCRIBED
ABOVE.
SECOND CHECK PAID OF $3867.00
IS THE REFUND AMOUNT I AGREED TO GIVE BACK
THANK YOU,

[redacted]OWNER
INFINITY HOME RENOVATIONS INC.

Review: My husband and I hired Infinity Home Renovations (owner [redacted]) to install a new kitchen floor and add an extension off of our kitchen. The kitchen floor was installed, but it took 4 weeks longer than [redacted] told us. In addition, part of the demolition has not been completely repaired. The contract stated that one-third of the money was given to him upon signing, then another third when the project started and then another third upon completion. Unfortunately, because of a property line issue that was unknown to us, we were unable to build the extension. [redacted] and I had 2 conversations about the money that was advanced to him for the extension and told us that a refund was due. The refund owed to us is approximately $5000. Since those conversations, [redacted] has not returned our money. My husband and I have tried to contact him again on 4 separate occasions. He has not responded back. I strongly suggest that no one use Infinity Home Renovations. They are not trustworthy as their slogan suggests. We are now seeking legal advice to resolve this matter.Desired Settlement: We want a refund of our money that was advanced to him for the cost of the extension. This refund should be approximately $5000.
