InfoSec Institute, Inc. Reviews (8)

This class is certainly did not meet my expectations I wish previous people would have reviewed this course more so I could have avoided infoSec Institute
Overall:
The company itself seemed to be just going thru the paces They sent an email during and after the class asking how things were and how they were exceeding my expectations I replied to each email and eval request Never received any response about how poor their service had been
Online:
They claim to be an "online" institute They run a traditional class room in an hotel conf room and throw up a Lync web conf with a cheap webcam You can see the whiteboard or slides The instructor even only responded to any of the online questions 50% of the time There were several technical problems where the online students were dropped, couldn't hear, or couldn't see The instructor also dropped off the internet at times They charge the same onsite or online
Instructor:
Time management - very poor chapters / days Took two days to get thru one chapter He spend a large part of the first day just talking about himself Then would spend hours on just one or two slides, then rush thru Class started late every day one day mins late Class would also come back from breaks late Many days he stopped the class early As we got closer to the end and he noticed that we were very far behind he spend up to the point where most the class couldn't keep track which page we were on
Depth of knowledge: Poor He regularly spend large chucks of time explaining something backwards When a student finally got him to realized he was wrong the reaction was kinda "oops" and then he just moved to the next subject He was often making up definitions to acronyms When it came to newer technology such as cloud he was just dead wrong
Presentation: Poor He would regularly forget there was on online class We couldn't always here him or the rest of the class at best we were hearing one-sided conversations People would ask questions and he would just repeat what he side over and over, not answering the question or re-phasing Several times he laughed at somebody asking a questions because they didn't understand what he said
Many subjects in the syllabus were not even covered because of lack of time

[redacted],
Thanks for your reply. The emails for the BOGO promotions were sent to students who were quoted pricing packages which qualified for the promotion. Since your training did not qualify because of the pricing and hotel stay, this was not offered.

I spoke with our training department, if you want to go back to your original enrollment and meet the requirements to qualify your earlier course for the BOGO offer, you can do this by paying the additional $200 shortage for the course pricing and the full 5 nights hotel stay of $550, for a total of $750. You can contact me directly to complete the $750 payment and upon receiving this, I will set up your free course voucher to redeem for a second mentored online course valid through end of September 30, 2014.

Best regards,

This is in response to [redacted]'s Revdex.com complaint XXXXXXXX. [redacted] took our CCNA/CCENT/CCDA/CCNA boot camp from 1/13-1/19/2014....

As part of our company policies [redacted] is entitled to one free re-sit if they do not pass [redacted] exam at the end of the course. [redacted] decided to attend our CCNA/CCENT/CCDA/CCNA boot camp from 1/26-2/1/15 for her free re-sit. Since she already passed [redacted] our sales representative advised her to attend the class from Wednesday through Sunday. [redacted] states that she got an email from our instructor saying not to attend class on Wednesday until 5 pm. Our sales representative did tell [redacted] that class would start Wednesday afternoon, so she was not mislead by our sales representative on the time frame of the class running from Wednesday until Sunday. Therefore, we are still offering [redacted] a $120.00 credit towards a future course, but not a refund for the hotel she booked. Let me know if you have any questions or need any additional information.

This was an error on the sales rep behalf. When I spoke to to him about the time he said they must've gotten off track. He then emailed his sales director

[redacted] is a client of mine that has completed Ethical Hacking, Linux, and Cisco CCNA certification training with us. This week, she is re-sitting our CCNA Quad session in Dulles. She previously passed [redacted] ICND 1 exam, and is repeating it again before taking the ICND2 and CCNA: Security exams. As is our standard procedure, when any client repeats a Cisco session having already passed [redacted] iCND1 exam, we ask them to arrive on Day 3, as that's when the material for the ICND 2 exam will begin.
[redacted] paid the hotel directly for her accommodations out of her own pocket and arrived one day prior to training, as usual, but the Instructor relayed to her that the training for the ICND2 exam would not begin until after 5:00pm. She called, very upset that she had spent $120.00 for her first night when she could've traveled directly to the hotel if the training wasn't going to start until that late in the day. I offered to credit any future enrollment for $120.00, in addition to any returning-Alumni discount, but she asked me to direct this to Management for review. I've copied [redacted] on this e-mail, please reply with any proposed resolution that you may have available.

This is in response to Revdex.com case number XXXXXXXX. We received the consumer's response on 4/17/15 showing the charges for the hotel stay from 1/27 to 2/1/15. I also confirmed with the hotel that [redacted] was a no show for 1/27/15, and therefore was charged for the night in question. Therefore, we would like to offer a $120.00 credit towards a future class. Let me know if you have any questions or need any additional information.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not have any plans of taking future courses with infosec and would like a refundin the amount of $120.00. I was a no show because the instructor informed me of the class start time of 5pm. After speaking to the instructor I contacted the hotel which told me it was too late to cancel that night and I would be charged for that night whether I stayed or not. I wouldn't have booked that night (Tuesday) if the sales rep and the instructor was on the same accord. Their miscommunication cost me an additional $120. Even if I had stayed I would've still requested a refund for a wasted night at the hotel. The staff is having a hard time owning up to their mistakes and all I'm asking for is a refund for their mistakes. I've spent thousands in training with infosec and have referred many others. All I desire is the $120.00 refund not even 5% of the cost of my last training.
