Listed on the "Do not Call" list. Company has repeatedly called, have informed them being on do not call list, continue to call.
6/4/2020, 6:37 PM, received another call from company.

Desired Outcome

Stop Calling. No further contact of any kind.

INI Home Buyers Response • Jun 16, 2020

The company doing the calling is not our company. We are not conducting business any longer under this name due to another business using our name. We do not operate in this area (IN) at all and have not for several years.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Since I can't disprove their response I'm forced to accept the response from them. Since they are aware of the other business using the same name it would be nice if they had provided the information required to identify the company so that this complaint could be directed to the proper organization.

This company misrepresented it's self and used shady and disreputable tactics after offering to purchase my property.
Home Buyers Network (HBN) sent me a postcard stating they wanted to purchase my property located at *** Augusta Ga. 30904. Just around Thanksgiving 2017. I agreed to meet with one of their representatives. Representative Jeremiah G came out, inspected my property, took photos then stated in a couple of days he would give me an offer. Two weeks later he made an offer of $30,000 from his company. Mr. G said they would close in two(2) weeks or less, usually in 10 days. We accepted the offer, met at Starbucks and went into contract the first week of December hoping to close before Christmas. I had two(2) other party's interested in my property that had made offers during that time but since I was offered a speedy closure I accepted HBN's offer. I made the mistake of telling Mr. G that my husband and I would be traveling out of country for about two months and appreciated the quick closure. Mr. G stated we should just sign all the papers and allow the title company lawyers to send our money straight to our bank. My husband and I weren't comfortable with that but after waiting and having the closing date delayed until just before our departure date, we signed closing documents on Monday, January 22, 2018 (Almost two(2) months after we accepted HBN's offer!) Long story to short, we showed up for the signing of the documents, HBN and their buyers did NOT. I was told that something had come up and they would be in to sign on Friday, January 26, 2018. My husband and I were supposed to leave the country on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. At this point we had no other alternative but to accept for the McLeod & Murdock, Attorneys At Law to deposit the money into our account for us once the deal closed. So, we signed the documents and left the keys with the title attorney. On Monday, January 29, 2018 I checked my bank account from overseas only to find that no money had been deposited. I called the attorney's office and was told by Karen K that HBC had once again postponed the closing stating that a deal they were working on with another property fell through and they needed to sell that property so they could then use the funds from that sale to purchase my property. The only problem with that was, my contract with HBN wasn't predicated on whether or not they sold any of their properties. Long story to short this went on and on. HBN would continually set closing dates then walk away from them. I threatened to file a complaint with the Revdex.com on their disreputable business practices on April, 17, 2018, then immediately Mr. G and Karen K told me HBN would be closing on their condo on Friday, April 27, 2018 and would be closing on my property on Monday, April 30, 2018. I called Mr. G several times during the weekend of April 30, 2018 to see if the closing on their property went well. I got Dead Air. I called Karen K at the attorney's office to see if HBN had come to the table only to find out that on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, once again, they had failed to come to the table. Home Buyers Network drug me along for five(5) and a half MONTHS, until our contract had long expired, causing me to be hurt by not being able to entertain any of my other offers until they (HBN) had declared themselves. If Home Buyers Network did this to me, they may have done this to countless others as well. This is a hurtful and predatory business practice that needs to be both addressed and curtailed.

Desired Outcome

I'd like for the Revdex.com to Notify HBN of this complaint and request that they come to the table to complete this transaction or a negative mark will be placed on them from this complaint

Dear Concerned Customer,

I appreciate you bringing this matter to my attention and I want to say that I am 100% sorry that you feel this way about the transaction. I am disappointed that you feel we used disreputable tactics and misrepresented ourselves. We have helped hundreds of people needing to sell their homes and as a company, we pride ourselves on being transparent and honest. Our goal is to earn the right to help customers sell their homes and we clearly failed on many levels with this interaction.

I wanted to confirm some of the complaints in this statement as the notes I have on them are a little different. In the previous statement you commented that contracts were signed before Christmas and you were expecting to close before Christmas but we did not have our initial appointment with you until December 12th at 11am. At the time of this appointment we were both far off in price from what you were originally asking and what we were able to offer. Also, on the contract that you signed you dated it for 01/06/2018 with a close date of 02/05/2018. I am more than happy to email you the ratified contract that was signed. Was there another contract that maybe was signed before hand and something was changed? I do apologize if there was some misunderstanding, but I am not sure how we would have closed before Christmas. Also, regarding the two week or 10 day close we all agreed on the contract closing date of 02/05/2018.

I hate that you feel it was a mistake to let us know you were going out of town. Again, our goal is to earn the right to your business and not to trick anyone into anything. We have dealt with many of situations where attorneys have just had sellers complete closing before they had to go somewhere and then conduct the transaction and wire money directly to desired account. There were no intentions of a ploy to cause any mistrust. You stated that you signed the docs on 01/22/2018 which would have been 16 days after you initially signed the contract and 14 days before our actual closing date. I am not sure what you mean by two months after you accepted our offer. If you never felt comfortable going through with any of these proceedings you were able at any time to cancel/terminate the contract, at no penalty to you, and push everything off until you got back. I cannot imagine a situation where you would have had no other choice as you can always choose to do what you feel comfortable doing. Again, you signed a contract with an agreed upon closing date of 02/05/2018 which appears to be after you were leaving the country.

As far as the multiple closing dates, we do apologize and were unable to fund this deal in cash until we had another deal close. This happens periodically with cash purchases and we apologize if this was not disclosed up front. Our original closing date was 02/05/2018 and we should have performed by then. As far as not having options, in our contract it states that if either party defaults (which we clearly did) then the non-defaulting party (yourself) has the rights to exercise the remedies contained in the contract for closing the property. We truly felt that when we were set to close both of those times we would be able to. In addition, when we realized the other deal was not going to sell, and we did not have the ability to close like we should have, we offered you $5,000 down and monthly payments until the property closed and we could pay the purchase price in full. You turned down that option as you said you had other buyers with better offers on the table.

In conclusion, the biggest item here is that Home Buyers Network (HBN) made a promise to purchase your property for a price on an agreed upon date. Our goal is to help sellers get rid of properties and fulfill our end of the bargain. Unfortunately, we clearly fell short on our goals with you. We want to sincerely apologize for not being able to live up to our promises and perform as promised. This is not a pattern or indication of our regular business practices. We truly help a plethora of homeowners and want to continue to help as many people as possible. I will personally reach out to you today to remedy this situation. Again, we apologize and appreciate your consideration to make this situation right.

Thanks,

Brandon B
CEO
