RE: 89066530: [redacted]...

[redacted]
I am disputing Mr. [redacted] accusations that Inland Rovers did not repair his vehicle. Mr. [redacted] is complaining that he spent over $600 to have his vehicle repaired, and that his passenger seat is not working still, and that his lighter socket is still not working.

For clarification: Mr. [redacted] did not spend $600 on the Driver and passenger seat repair, and light socket repair.
Mr. [redacted]'s repair cost for that repair was $221.90. This is what we did. (I have attached invoice for review. Invoice # XXXXX
(Inspected and fuse 36 blown, When customer brought vehicle in h stated that fuse 36 blows right away when installed. Customer stated that he had installed a couple. Replaced fuse 36 and blows right away, tested driver seat and there is a short between the seat and the cjb (central junction box), need to remove driver seat and cjb for testing. Called customer and got approval. ) Proceeded and Removed driver seat and cjb for access, found wires under seat rail pinched. Someone had previously had driver seat out and also broke the wire for the driver pretensioner (SRS light is on because of this! Customer declined this repair.) Repaired wiring and refit seat. Installed new fuse and is operating properly now. ). Passenger seat still does not operate, Traced fault to fuse #1 blown, Replaced fuse and now seat operates.
The remainder balance of $427.40 was for us to remove and replace his front pads and sensor, as he approved. (As noted on invoice that is attached).
Mr. [redacted] came back on 9/25/15 and stated that his passenger seat and light socket were not working. We went ahead and re-inspected our work, everything on our end was working, we continued to and traced fault all the way to the vanity mirror on driver's side. (We only did work under the seat, nothing near the headliner or roof as Mr. [redacted] stated).
Upon further investigation, when Inland Rovers removed the vanity mirror on the driver's side, found that whomever reinstalled the vanity mirror after installing the headliner had indeed not only pinched more wires (photos attached, but actually drove a screw through the wire, it became apparent that some other shop had re-upholstered the entire vehicle, possibly due to water ingress damage, and when they reassembled everything, ended up pinching wires in the process. (Out of courtesy, at no charge to the customer, before re-installing the vanity Inland Rovers did repair the wires at the mirror only).
At this time, [redacted] (Service Manager), took Mr. [redacted] to his vehicle and proceeded to show him the damage, and that this separate issue was not related to anything that Inland Rovers did, [redacted] proceeded to tell him it will be an additional 2 hours ($221.90) of labor to remove the headliner and see if there are any other pinched wires causing the issues with his vehicle. Customer was upset, declined the work and did not understand why he should pay for further diagnostics.
[redacted] explained to him that this is unrelated to the work we performed, and that another shop had worked on this vehicle prior too, and that Inland Rovers is not responsible for another shops work or there lack thereof.
This is what was noted on the repair order:
Inspected and found fuse #1 blown, this fuse is for the interior lamps and not the seat, Why the seat does not work when this fuse blows is not understandable, the passenger seat has its own fuse. When fuse is installed it blows out right away has a dead short in it. Traced fault to vanity mirror on driver side.
Removed mirror and it had been removed at one time (likes like the headliner was replaced by an upholstery shop) and when it was re installed the wiring got pinched, found that someone had done some headliner work previously and all the wiring for the interior lamps are pulled tight. (Looks like the sun roof drains were clogged at one time and water damaged a-pillar interior trim, when the headliner was re installed it was not installed properly. (Inland Rovers took pictures of the damaged wires)
Headliner needs to be dropped down to make sure all the other wiring is ok so that the customer will not have any other issues.
We also need to inspect and repair all junctions under right hand floor trim, on wiring harness that has had water in it from clogged drains.
Called customer and left a message stating we needed to do further repairs, customer was upset and stated he shouldn't have to pay for any other repairs.
Inland rovers did not damage the other wiring and will charge for time spent.
Customer declined and wanted to pick his vehicle up as is and not repaired.
While we were trying to find the electrical issue, and pulled down the vanity mirrors, Inland rovers did repair that vanity pinched line wiring only, at no charge to customer. (Even though this was not our fault)
If the customer has any further issues due from past water ingress or someone else other than inland rovers performing repair Inland rovers cannot and will not be held responsible or liable.
Furthermore, On first visit 9/9/15, customer was complaining about a brake light (this was not a brake light, it was a SRS light), we diagnosed the issue as being a seat belt buckle pretensioner in the front driver's seat. Quoted customer $514.97 to repair and customer declined those repairs, which is why his light is still on.
If you have any further questions, or need more clarification on this matter, please do not hesitate to contact us at the below mentioned number.
Sincerely,

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2015/10/07) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
as I said I took the car with the following problems
1) Driver's seat not working (now it is working)
2) Passenger seat not (at the time I talked to [redacted] it wasn't working now it is working
3)break's sensor on all the time (now working properly)
seat bell light on (i declined)
new problems after,
1) socket not working
2) radio is on at all time (before it turned off when the key was not on the ignition).
at this point I do not want anything else but too me that is no the way business is done. I took the car I left the car for more than one week I paid whatever you asked then the seat wasn't working and you wanted more money. it doesn't really matter who worked on the car before your job was to give me the seats working without any additional problem
