Inmer’s Deck Restoration

He was hired to paint a small bedroom 10X10 and repair a crack along the wall. He charged $1,050.00. Additionally, he “repaired” 1 piece of interior window trim $60 separate from the bedroom.

Overpriced and poor quality work. He claims to have 13 years of experience and has several jobs/contracts with homeowners at *** for 3 years now. He claimed to be bonded and insured, but said he left his credentials at the last job site he was working and would bring them the following day. When he could not produce the credentials he stated that the homeowners were on vacation and doesn’t have access to them.

He requested 50% of the total price upfront to purchase supplies the day we signed the shady contract and said the balance would be due once the job is completed. Additionally, his contract lists contact info and title as “Inmer’s Deck Restoration”. Also, the contract does not itemize the labor costs and supplies. I have since contacted 3 licensed painting contractors and all confirmed that for a 10X10
the average price is $350 to $400 max. However, for poor quality inadequate work they would charge $200.

Main points:

•ridiculously overpriced in comparison to average rate for a small bedroom

•Did not produce credentials

•Requested 50% advance deposit prior to start of work when it’s customary to request 25%

•Poorly written contract

•Spilled paint on my daughter’s new bed frame as he did not use plastic or tarp to protect furniture

•Did not remove wall/outlet plates, painted over them and stained them

•Did not remove nails and painted over them

•Wall crack was not properly repaired

•Work was shoddy, inadequate, incomplete and my property was damaged in the process
