Inn at Kelly's Ford Reviews (1)

Review: A group of us went camping and tubing Labor Day weekend. I showed up on Saturday before noon to pay and provide the forms. From the moment I walked in there was no direction. I had to ask multiple times, "ok, now what?". This was in reference to who to give the forms to, who to give the money to, how the trip itself was going to work, if we are to meet someone somewhere or if they are picking us up at the office and so on.... I was shown a map by a girl in training and she showed me where we would be dropped off and picked up. She told me to look for a gravel driveway at mountain run - (well, at first she said the Point). She explained that I couldn't miss it. This was not the case as I learned. Then I walked outside and was driven to the drop off point. I asked [redacted] how he would know to pick us up and was told I should have been given a card with a number. He then gave my husband his personal cell phone.

If I was told to look for a sign that said Inn at Kellys Ford and to turn there to find Mountain Run, we would not have been in the horrible situation that we were in. We saw that sign and passed it because there was no gravel driveway. I knew something was wrong when I saw the sun beginning to get lower and lower. We turned around and trudged up river. This was no easy task. I am grateful that I did not have my kids with me on this trip because it could have turned much worse. At one point I climbed out of the river to see if the terrain was any better. It was not. Many of us ended up with cuts, bruises, and even a broken toe. At one point I had to climb over a barbed wire fence, in a bathing suit carrying a cooler. Not my idea of fun.

After finally reaching the correct camp site I noticed that one of the campers were actually on the phone with Kellys Ford staff. I asked her if I could talk to them. The staff member who I talked to explained that we could not get a ride because no one was there and that our camp site was only a quarter mile away and we could walk. That of course, did not make me happy. Myself and 6 other people just had to walk about 2 hours back up river because we were given incorrect directions. My husband then found a ride back to his truck from another patron and picked us all up.

Once I finally reached the Inn and spoke to another staff member she gave me the managers cell phone number. I tried to call with no success. I was told to come back on Sunday morning to talk to someone then. Once I reached the office on Sunday morning I was told the manager was at Church but was coming straight in afterwards to talk to me. I did not receive a call on Sunday. It took me calling the manager on Monday and was told to write an email. This could have all been avoided if the employee in training provided us with the correct directions. Giving incorrect directions on a river is irresponsible and dangerous.

When the owner finally called me she stated that I would not be getting a refund because I was drunk and belligerent and because I treated her employees wrong. When I told her I was sober and didn't drink she informed me that I was not allowed on her property and if I ever came back that she would get me for trespassing. She never gave me a chance to talk.

She is in the hospitality business and handled this, in my opinion, very wrong. Her and her employees treated me with disrepect and put our lives at danger. Once she was involved, she just became defensive and did nothing to satisfy her customers after such a horrible experience. there was no apology at all, the blame was placed all on me. I have witnesses that will agree to the fact we were given wrong directions, I handled the situation with a level head, and I was sober.

As an establishment that offers tubing and canoeing down a river they should have protocols in place for when patrons don't show up when they are supposed to. The Inn knew we were lost, but yet, all went home and sent no one to look for us. This is dangerous.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded for the amount of money that I spent at her facility for the weekend - $275.00
