Hired Herbert R to remove popcorn ceilings, paint and install crown molding in 1,766 sq ft condo. Contractor removed popcorn, filled in part of cracks, spray painted most then rolled some paint. He painted most of condo - some rooms only one coat of paint. Installed crown molding.
Project began March 25th, 2020. The last day he was at condo working on project was April 15, 2020. He did not finish project even though he was suppose to have verbally and in writing. He and I met at condo evening of April 19th, we discussed what was not finished - still a number of cracks, holes, blemishes in ceilings. Only one coat of paint in some areas so prior color bled through, did not tape bottom near baseboard so all lines are uneven along with there is paint on trim and floors. Crown was butt unevenly in certain areas, can still see nails and edges where he cut out molding around registers and fire sprinklers are jagged with no finishing. He agreed to problems and we made appt for him to come back to finish April 21st. On Monday he changed appt to Wednesday then changed appt to Thursday at 10 AM. I waited at property for two hours unable to reach him. He is not returning calls or texts. I learned of his company from ***.com. And I set up a project though the site. I registered complaint with ***.com. They reached out to Herbert and per a representative assigned to me he told them he finished the job. *** rep advised me to make this complaint to Revdex.com. I have also hired an attorney who will handle lawsuit once courts are open again through the Pandemic. Herbert was paid approx $12k for this project.

Innovation Painting Solutions Response • May 07, 2020

Good afternoon.
This is Herbert R, owner of Innovation Painting Solutions LLC.
We started Ms ***'s house on the 25th of March, 2020.
We did our best to get the job completed within the time frame we were given, and that included popcorn texture removal from the ceilings, walls painting, excluding bathrooms, and crown molding installation.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, it was definitely more challenging, due to me not having the help I was counting on to to get everything done within the alloted time determined by Ms ***, but we thankfully got it all completed by April 15th as agreed.
At the last day, as you can see in the text exchange, I mentioned that we were about finished with the job, and she responded back saying that there were a few areas where she wanted me to touch up. I responded back saying that I would roll the ceilings that she pointed out to me, and later on, I sent her another text stating that we had finished, and that's when she came back to the house and dismissed us. At that point, she had a big crew of cleaners at the house starting to do the cleaning.
A few days after we were dismissed from the job, ms *** texted me saying that there were some other issues she would like me to correct. I wasn't able to respond right away, because as she was aware, once I finished her job, I already had other houses we would be working on. But I responded to her the following day, and set up a time to come look at the areas that she wasn't happy about, and tried to set up a time to come back and fix those issues. As a side note, I was already dismissed from the job, but I still made a point to come back and go over with her over the areas that she wasn't pleased with, and I did it because that's how I treat my customers. Even though the job was finished and we were technically done, I still came back to make sure she would be satisfied with our services. But, at this point, I, Herbert, got caught up on my other new job, and I wasn't able to meet up with *** at the time and date we had agreed to.
I'm trying to make myself available to her, and sent her a message, excusing myself for not being able to come or reaching back out to her. I still haven't got a response from her.
Basically, this is the story. I have text messages and pictures to prove that the job was done, and was accepted by ms ***.
According to my attorney, we were legally dismissed from any compromise with Ms ***, but I'm still making myself available to her and I'm willing to come back and fix any issues.
If there's any questions or any other information is needed, please let me know and I'll be glad to assist with anything.
Have a great rest of your day!
Herbert R

Innovation Painting Solutions Response • May 15, 2020

As a company, we strive our best to have our customers pleased with our work. As stated before, we feel really sorry that we weren't able to respond to Ms ***'s text message right away, but as a side note, she could have also reached us on another company's number, which was first being used to contact us about the job (864-***), but we never got a response from her to both calls and text messages on the last day that we were at her home finishing up the job.
Unfortunately, the outrageous refund amount request that's been made by Ms *** is totally out of the question, specially taking in consideration that the job was completed in full and inspected by her, and as she dismissed us she mentioned that she was pleased with the job, so any work relation had been terminated that day. In all fairness, if the job wasn't up to the customer's standards, we wouldn't have been dismissed by her at the last day.
The only offer that we have made to come back around and fix the small areas where she had mentioned, wasn't acceptedby the customer. Even though she had already dismissed us, after carefully inspecting the finished job, we made ourselves available, through here and through our last text exchange, and we were willing to make any corrections as to what had been stated.
So, at this point, we will have to decline any petition from Ms ***, as we have tried to work with her, and she declined our offer.
Our sincere apologies that this had to end this way, but as a small company, we wish Ms *** the best, but at this point we have moved on our next projects.

Sincerely,
Innovation Painting Solutions.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.
As I stated in my original complaint I wanted to work out a refund agreement which is the least Innovation Painting Solutions can do. I went ahead and chose a new contractor with 22 years experience in this area and had them fix the damage created in a few rooms. I do not have the money to correct the entire condo. They re- mudded the ceilings, sanded and painted them. They rolled a second coat on the walls where that was not done, painted areas that were missed and taped bottoms of walls and repainted there evenly and repainted trim that was missed. I also could not afford having the damaged trim corrected. This was the recommendation of all 4 contractors I had inspect the prior job and give me estimates on damaged or missing work. The difference in appearance is like night and day. The before and after pictures and video are incredible.

I cannot believe a "professionial contractor" left my property in the condition that they did and still charged me any amount for what they did and did not do. Herbert R was in my condo with another worker when I left that last day and still had a few hours of work. No one was "dismissed." He had told me several times he would be finished that day and actually before. In writing. The first day I met him he gave me his number and asked me to correspond with him directly for all work and concerns about the project from then on which I did. We had an agreed day for him to come back to repair damage and fix problems. He did not show and then did not respond to me. I signed an agreement with him and saw no one other than him and his two workers during the project.

I am very disappointed we can not work out a monetary agreement especially now that I see the work that someone with appropriate experience can carry out and in a shorter amount of time. I only hope this company's future clients receive better workmanship and are not taken advantage of financially as I have been.

Regards
