This is completely false. After signing the wedding contract, this client requested to upgrade to the bar portion from full basic to premium bar. We made one adjustment for $10/p to the liquor section only. The client did not want to pay the additional amount, so we discussed this via email and...

accommodated the client and advised that we could leave the price exactly the same.
Also, as standard per our company policy, the client was required to pay a 50% deposit on signing of the contract, but negotiated to make this in two payments (one on signing and one on January [redacted]) with the 50% remaining amount due 30 days prior to their wedding. The client advised in December that they were waiting for a company bonus on January [redacted] and could meet us on January [redacted] with their remaining deposit. The client arrived to the meeting and advised that they could not afford to pay their remaining deposit because they were building a house and the kitchen that somebody gave them was too small and now they would have to pay $10's of thousands of dollars to purchase a new kitchen. They also advised that with all of the extra house costs, they could not afford to honor the contract and that they would need to spend 35% less on their wedding.
The [redacted]/[redacted] advised them that he would work with them to accommodate their new budget. The client kept back peddling and appeared to have a hidden agenda. They also mentioned a family/friend caterer who was less money. They were not willing to discuss any new changes that [redacted] was offering to meet their new budget. This left [redacted] with no option, but to leave the meeting to the [redacted] to wrap up. The client told [redacted] to send the new proposal over for them to review.
Since we as the caterers had spent five months planning this wedding, in good faith, we sent an updated proposal to the client that exactly met their new budget of 35% less. It was better for us to make little money than no money at all, especially since our booking season had past and we had already lost two other wedding and one corporate client who requested our services for their date. The client responded coldly that they did not want to accept the revised proposal with the excuse that [redacted] left the meeting early and they did not feel comfortable with this. [redacted] is a very well known chef who is loved in the community. He is a huge humanitarian and respect him very much. He never insulted or offended this client ..or any other client that we have ever worked for. If anyone was offensive, it was the client who appeared to be belligerent when we were working so hard to accommodate them.
Our reputation is impeccable and we known for being very fair and reasonable and have referrals to attest to this. We have never been involved in any dispute like this. We contacted our lawyer [redacted] and he said that we clearly have liquidated damages. The client not only owes us for the balance of the 50% deposit, but please consider that we had  spent five months doing all of the detailed planning for this wedding along with turning down other prospective clients that we could have made money from. It is virtually impossible to find a wedding client with only a few months until the date. So, we have loss of income much greater than the client.
The client clearly broke the contract and we are willing to pursue this to the full extent of the law. If the client tries to slander our good reputation, then we will also sue for this. We bent over backwards to accommodate this client and they clearly were not honorable. We are a white glove catering company, who offered this clients the best of the best for their exact demanded price. We had a good working relationship with them for months. There was never any bad words exchanged at the last meeting. There is no excuse for the client break a contract and then expect to receive money back. Again, if we have to pursue this in the courts, we are willing to do this. This client has left us in a very bad position with $10's of thousands of dollars at loss.

Review: Hello My nameis [redacted] , my Finaces name is [redacted]. On Aug [redacted] 2014 we booked with Insatiable EATS to cater our wedding which is taking place on June [redacted] 2014. We had given a %15 booking down payment of 8 K. Unforutnaly insatitable eats started to make changes to our original contract ; higher prices and ext leaving us feeling extremmely unconformtamble. On Jan [redacted] we met with ISE to cancel our contract in person. Upon us cancelling with the company [redacted] got extrememly upset , started to act erractly and basically stating your gonna have a hard time getting all your money back When we had asked [redacted] why we wouldnt get back our downpayment of 4k back [redacted] stated I have my ways of keeping itLetter from our lawyer. The contract between [redacted] and IEC, dated August *, 2013, states the following: "Half of the deposit is non-refundable, [sic] the other half is refundable upon receipt of written cancellation 30 days prior to the event. Within 14 days prior to the event the entire deposit becomes non-refundable." [Emphasis added.] The event date is June **, 2014. Based upon the clear contractual requirements that both parties agreed to and [redacted] terminating the contract pursuant to the contract's terms and requirements, she is legally entitled to a refund of 50% of the $8,000 deposit that was paid to IEC ($4,000). Basically now we are fighting for your 4k down payment back ; we cant even afford to go on a honeymoon because they have our Money!!If you could help in any way possible that would be great! Thanks you so much.[redacted]Desired Settlement: At this point we are asking for our refund back of 4k.

?My name is [redacted]. My fiancé is [redacted]. It's unfortunate how far apart both sides are on this. This past December we decided to update our guest list given our wedding budget. One off our deciding factors on selecting Insatiable Eats was our agreement on guest list count and how it may change our wedding proposal amount. We sent this updated guest count over to Insatiable Eats. Our new updated contract that we received with a revised tally of less guests actually increased. When asked why, there was some slight confusion at first. Insatiable Eats then claimed our original contract did not include a premium bar.

Since our first meetings we were always clear about a premium bar. We stressed the importance of our liquor and alcohol bar. Hence how surprised I was to hear this was the reason for our increase. I reached out to insatiable eats immediately by email. I stated my displeasure with the circumstance and mentioned I may look to part ways. In that period of time we were approached by a vendor who presented us with a proposal significantly less then our contract with insatiable eats. It was a difficult decision. We attempted to meet with them twice. The first being postponed due to there presence in the city. The next due to inclement weather. Any chance for negotiating a new contract ended the night we met in person to discuss our situation. We met with Insatiable Eats to discuss our situation. We stated we could not proceed with our contract with them. They then asked if we were still getting married. We answered all questions truthfully. We cited financial reasoning and implied we were going with another caterer.

[redacted] actions that night terminated this contract. As our discussions progressed [redacted]'s tone and actions became more aggressive. He stated "There are ways for me to keep your money". At that point there was no discussion about deposits. I quickly showed both [redacted] and [redacted] our signed contract stating. "Half the deposit is non returnable , the other half is returnable upon cancellation 30 days or more in advance". They looked confused when this was brought up. The meeting did not go much better. I had to Excuse myself from it. I will not deal or tolerate any such behavior. Insatiable Eats reached out to me that night with an updated proposal. At that time I had no interest in hearing any off it. Since then they have completely disregarded our signed contract. They claim we can be held liable for liquidated damages. If this is so it should have been stated on our signed contract. We have given them 6 months advanced notice. No venues were booked. Any referral based service they recommended we did not go with. All that was lost was time. They are contractually owed somewhere close to $4,000.00 for there services. They have made up there own rules and agenda since. There claims off 50 percent off non refundable deposits upon booking are irrelevant. I would have never agreed to those terms if that was the case. We can not be held liable for any items not documented and agreed upon. A contract is created to protect both parties. I have a paperwork trail of documentation that will support my above statements. I have not once seen any documentation from them that support there views. This is bad business. I also have no problem stating this in a court of law or in public. I have chosen my words carefully and once again have documents to support this. I have tried to remain patient and quiet. In a referral based business I'm quite shocked they would take this stance. Especially as a newer catering company operating in a small town environment. To be quite frank I'm disappointed to say the least.
