 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
when we first met with the contractor, we certainly would not have asked for or accepted a SUBPAR job to be done. We trusted that he was going to do a professional job.  He never stated that he would not be able to install the gutter properly. He was suggesting what we understood,  to cut back our roof edge, which we did not want. He never said to us that to put up the gutters he was proposing was going to be a subpar gutter. When he sent us the estimate, we believed it was for the right product for our roof.
He called and talked to both me and my husband, and Dale asked him to send us a proposal for how he was going to correct the problem. He never sent us one. He did call and asked that we actually meet to make sure we are on the same page with what was going to be done, which we agreed. But we were expecting this proposal first. I will contact him again and see if we can meet to further discuss.
He never called us to tell us that there was an issue with what he was going to install once he got here. He just went ahead and installed them anyway. that is our biggest gripe. Then he told us he could fix it but it would cost us more money. When I came home and saw that the gutters were so close to the roof edge and shingles, making it unrealistic for the water to even go into the gutters, I was upset. We have had two contractors look at the result and the one quoted $1,200 to fix, since they would have to have 2 guys here all day to remove the gutters, and put spacers in to make it right.
We are concerned and do not have a lot of confidence that he will properly fix the issue, but we are willing to let him. We would agree  to pay for the materials to fix as long as he does not charge us any labor involved. I do not want to have to pay someone else $1,200 to fix on top of what we already paid Insight. We just want to get this resolved peacefully and correctly once the weather eases up.

To whom it may concern,Upon our first estimate to look at replacing the gutters for the customer we proposed the best gutter system available for their roof design. The customer stated clear could tell we have the experience and knowledge to perform the job to the high standards they...

didn't want us to remove the bottom 2 rows of shingles to install - properly. So, in the interest of the customer, we came up with another design to fit their needs and lowered our standards to accommodate them. Needless to say we saved them approximately $1,000-$1,500 going this route. So upon install we came to find the shingles and drip edge were hanging over the roof edge 2", which wasn't correct, but was done by the previous roofer to accommodate the old style gutter. We finished our install and told the customer it would cost an additional $300.00 to make the drip edge and shingles right. They said OK and we could do it in the spring. So we collected final payment and told them we would send a contract for the $300.00 project to be completed in the spring. Several weeks later they contacted the Revdex.com and filed a complaint. Insight Contractors had completed the job above industry standards and also saved the customer money at the same time.
In regards to the complaint filed, we have contacted the customer since the complaint was filed. We agreed to fix the problem free of charge, even though we lowered our standards for this particular job, in order to stand behind the quality of our work as we always do. The customer hasn't even had the respect to call us back after we came to an agreement on fixing the drip edge for free.  As far as Insight Contractors is concerned we installed a quality gutter system that functions as it should with the exception of an unforeseen issue with the drip edge.
This customer settling for a subpar gutter system then complaining about the quality of the workmanship is the perfect example of what happens when you settle for less then the best!
