September 1,
my daughter had an appointment scheduled with the owner of IPA Prosthetics & Orthotics
however, we never met with him for the scheduled appointmentinstead, after arriving with my child and her physical therapist and waiting for a few minutes, we were informed by one of the office technicians that he (the owner) had been in and out of the office all day; going back and forth to the hospital the tech said that he might be a little late getting here or might not make it in time to see us, but that we were more than welcome to wait for him or we could rescheduleshe also, mentioned that due to some adjustments made to my daughter's braces, they would not be covered under warrantythis was not a big deal to us and again she said that we could wait and he could take a look and see what could be done
so, we chose to go ahead and wait because we really needed to meet with him to see if he could help! so we waited
all of a sudden the office manager walks up to the front windowher demeanor was confrontational! she starts asking us why are we here! what's going on with the braces? and, many more questions
as we start to answer all of the questions she is firing at us, we noticed that she was looking down....obviously avoiding eye contacther body language said "i don't care!" my daughter's therapist stopped answering the questions, and attempted to get the manager to make eye contacther body language continued to mirror her lack of interest in our responses
our main purpose for being there was to have them re-measure my daughter for a new spio suit and look at her bracesafter we are finished explaining everything to her, the next thing that happens is ridiculously unprofessional!
in the rudest tone she says to us: "what adjustments did you do to IPA's braces?" the braces were paid for by our insurance so technically they belong to my daughter!
we are not given an opportunity to reply(all that was added was a tiny piece of Velcro to help keep my daughter's foot from slipping outalso, the adjustments made to the braces were done under the guidance of a former physician that worked in their office
she then goes on a rant and accuses me of meeting outside of their office with the physician that no longer works for IPAwhich never happened!
I tell her that when asked the question by her receptionist,
both times that she called me; we had been in communication with the other physician only when she was working out of their officeshe was assisting us in making my daughters orthotics more effective! in fact, the last appointment we had at IPA with her was in June when we picked up my daughter's spio suiti have no idea when exactly the physician stopped working for IPA
the office manager accused me again of working with this other physician (once their former co-worker)this ridiculous drama went on and on..with the manager claiming that they had called me and I had somehow admitted that we had met with this other physician
the owner never showed his face..the appointment with him never happened!
the office manager informs us that they are also no longer going to help anyone in need of pediatric orthotics or do business with the spio suit companytherefore, those of us who have kids that use them will have to figure out something else!
this place is horrid!!! I have never witnessed such unprofessional-ism!!
I left their office in tears! it had taken months to get a referral for orthotics and to find a place that provided orthotics and the spio suit and now I have to start over!!!i
I am just trying to get my daughter the help she deserves and the best care possible in this "city" I know they treated us like this because my daughter was one of the other physicians patientsi am not privy to the circumstances that led my daughter's physician to leave ipa or
why they chose to handle this so poorly
they could've handled this in a professional manner.they could have called and canceled the appointment and informed us that with the leaving of my daughter's physician they were restructuring and no longer able to provide services to young childreni would have been upset but I would have handled it
if you care about your child or loved one find another place to take thembecause this place does not put your care first!!!
***previously, there had been no bad blood, attitude, or rudeness with the staff/ facility and myself
up until this day they had been nothing but helpful and courteous
