[redacted]. He was shown the property by our leasing agent and then he began contacting our Single Family Housing Director. She explained the availability of holding a property, renting and leasing options. She explained the conditions regarding the security deposit and that the security deposit is based on credit scores of the adults on the application. Every adult over the age of 18 must fill out an application and have a credit/background check performed. One of the applications had a credit score in the lower threshold and therefore required a double security deposit. In regard to the inference of pitting him against a [redacted] agent, we notified him that someone else was interested in the property and if wanted to HOLD the property he would need to put a deposit of 1/2 month's rent. He could cancel that hold within 48 hours and get his money back. Our manager was just giving him all the information he needed to make an informed decision on the property. We are happy to readdress renting the property with [redacted]. We abide by all fair housing laws and treat each applicant fairly. The rules exist for that reason.
