Intermountain Transmission Exchange, Inc. Reviews (3)

Dear [redacted], Our customer brought your transmission in to us. An Izuzu NPR has the same type of transmission as a Mitsubishi Fuso we did not know the year, make, or model of the vehicle as we did not have the vehicle. This is the correct transmission. When we rebuild a transmission, we have to drain it, clean it, tear it down, and then go through the entire thing to replace anything that is damaged. This is extremely time consuming and buying individual parts is much more expensive. By paying for the transmission as a whole rather than individual parts, you are essentially getting a combo discount. We did list all of the parts we put into the transmission on the invoice attached. We were told to do the re-manufactured transmission as per your request to keep costs at a minimum. Re-manufactured by definition is the rebuilding of a product to specifications of the original manufactured product. It requires the repair or replacement of worn out or obsolete components. If a customer or another shop removes/installs a transmission, Intermountain Transmission Exchange is not responsible for missing parts. We rebuiltthe transmission and sent it to the buyer. If we had done the installation in house, we would be responsible for the missing parts, but we did not.Intermountain Transmission Exchange did not remove or install this transmission. We were brought the transmission, rebuilt it, and had it back to the customer in about a weeks time. We did not see the vehicle until after Martin Diesel Service installed the transmission. At that time our technician deduced that the speedometer assembly was missing. Without a speedometer there is no speed signal. If the transmission doesn't know how fast you are going, it will shift erratically. The issues you are having with the installation and the missing parts has nothing to do with us. We did not install this transmission. As I stated before, this transmission is under warranty. It has a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty that is good at any A.T.R.A. shop. If your vehicle continuesto have issues after the speedometer is installed, we would be more than happy to honor the warranty. This is a rather uncommon vehicle so it is very difficult to find parts for, but we would love to help in any way we can. Please let us know if we can be of service to you. Sincerely,Robert R[redacted]

The customers invoice is attached. It has a breakdown of everything that was put into the transmission, including warranty information. Intermountain Transmission Exchange did not remove or install this transmission. Outer accessories such as range switches, e-brakes, speed sensors, speedometer...

gears, etc. are removed by the installer. None of these things are sent to us when we rebuild a transmission.  We rebuilt the transmission with new parts. (see attached invoice) This transmission functions properly and has a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty that is good at any ATRA shop. The shop that installed the transmission is responsible for the loss of the speed sensor and speedometer gear. Due to the age and the rarity of this particular vehicle, you cannot buy these parts new. We looked for over a month to try to help the customer find these parts used with no luck. Everything we received for this rebuild was returned. We would be more than happy to continue our search for these parts and help in any way we can.  Thank you,Robert R[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
#1)     The transmission tag has all the information about the vehicle ( make, modle...), so not having the vehicle is not excuse for not knowing that my vehicle make and other information.#2)     Rebuilding transmission is time consuming, (IS NOT JUST CLEANING THE TRANS AND PUTTING REBUILD TRANS BY ........) but is your job and business and you charge a lot for the work performed OR NOT performed. It took you close to 5 weeks to give my trans back (NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY) which was told will be  3 to 5 days.#3)     I never asked you to make rebuilding my transit economical, however I said that I want it done RIGHT, if I waned to go economical, I would have bought a used trans from salvage yard and install it, but I wanted my transmission to be rebuild with NEW PARTS, which by the way is the definition of transmission rebuilding MR boob.#4)     I have asked several times personally and once in this page for the copy of new parts that were used, you have avoid that so far.!!!??? (I NEED THOSE COPIES)#5)     Your said that your tech that was assembling my trans was seek for a few days and the one that had took over the assembly probably forget to put the part back, NOW you blame the installer for your tech mistake and trying to wash your responsibility for this NOT REBUILD correctly trans. #6)    After all that has been said, you have made me to have suspicious that you have giving me a salvaged trans as a rebuilt or used all salvaged parts instead of new ones  that you should have, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CONVEINCE ME OTHERWISE.At this point have NO TRUST IN YOUR WORK AND WORD>
Sincerely,
[redacted]
