International School of Jewelry and Design Reviews (1)

Review: I am currently studying at the International school of Jewelry and Design school open by [redacted].I took the 2 years intensive course program. I started this year Feb.I am an international student, I use to be in California and moved to NYC this beginning year. The tuition of the two year program is $36,860 (which is a lot of money).[redacted] wanted the tuition to be paid in the first 6 months, so I did that.(But I know no other schools would have this weird rule.I did that even though, because she said we would build our line and have great teachers which will teach us from hands on.Which I was really looking forward to) This is a private school, and she does not provide I-20, but I knew they wouldn't provide so I called her while I was in California wanted to know whether she would provide.[redacted] said she is working on it, since there is also other international students in this school.[redacted] also suggested me to take a language school in NY while she is working on the I-20( so I did that)In summer she said we would move to a different place and the I-20 will be ready in no time. But know this is already going to thanksgiving and Christmas.I don't see a sight of we moving and NO sign of the I-20 at all.I am really concern, so I talked to her about my situation, so I said its either she would have to refund me the 60% of tuition or have the I-20 ready.I gave her a month to reply me back but she still hasn't.She is telling me she does not have the money and I really don't see that.I feel I have been manipulated and cheated by being an international student here in this school.I don't want to continue any more.I just want my refund back by the next month, or sometime soon would be great.I gave her a lot of time but she did not take it seriously. I want to warn people out there that if you ever wanted to apply a Jewelry school please do not consider this one.[redacted] is not a 100% honest person. There has been teachers coming and going, very unprofessional and not as promised like [redacted] said.Desired Settlement: I am very unhappy, and felt have been manipulated as an international student here in this school. I want the 60% tuition refund please.

Response:

I have read the grievance filed by once disruptive and eventually dismissed student [redacted]. I find the claim to be a misrepresentation of events occurring at The International School of jewelry and Design (ISJD). In contrast, [redacted] was told in advance that ISJD does not provide students with l-20 documentation. She assured us she would secure her visa through another program, and she did. We have offered a number of options that would allow [redacted] to continue her studies, including adding additional class time to accommodate her schedule. In addition, there are no documents supporting the claims made by [redacted]. The applicable contact signed by [redacted] clearly states that all tuition is non refundable.

As a way to try to retrieve a refund, while still attending the school, [redacted] threatened teachers in front of students and staff. [redacted] was escorted out the school after picking up her belongings because of her threatening and disruptive behavior. ISJD gave [redacted] the education and experience she enrolled for and in no way breached a contract, we have complied with all agreements and attempted to be completely accommodating and understanding to [redacted]'s requests.

Threatening teachers is a violation of the law and her misconduct was intolerable in an educational facility.
