The customer came into the store on 5/24/17 and purchased a mattress and an adjustable base. The mattress that she purchased was a queen size temperpedic Cloud Luxe with a Queen size Premier adjustable base. Tempur pedic is an MSRP product and...

cannot be discounted unless it is a floor model. The salesperson sold her the floor model mattress at a discounted price and gave her a free pillow. She was told that she would have to wait 2 weeks for the new adjustable to come in and be available for delivery.
The customer came in several days later to sign the financing form. When she was in the store, the same salesperson, told her that if she was willing to take the floor model premier base that was currently on the floor that we could offer her a discount and deliver the next delivery day. She asked if there was a problem with the adjustable and wanted to make sure that it worked. The salesperson told her that it did work, and reminded her that this was the same adjustable she tried out in the store two days prior.
The product was delivered on 5/29/17 between 9-1. The delivery team set up the product and she signed for all merchandised delivered, accepting delivery. After the delivery team left her home, she contacted the store and complained that the product was "torn" up and that she wanted her money back. The assistant manager at the store that day, attempted to assist her, however she hung up on him several times. He then asked the GM to contact the customer.
The GM contacted the delivery team and asked about the condition of the product. The delivery driver said that there were no rips or tears in the adjustable base, but there was some minor wear patterns at the head of the unit where it had rubbed up against the display headboard. The mattress was in very good condition, with the exception of a "rub" mark that was on the bottom right hand corner of the bottom of the mattress, where it looked like it had been drug.
When the GM contacted the customer, the customer was unwilling to speak with them, she became belligerent when asked to explain the situation, used several expletives and hung up.
Cosmetic blemishes do not affect the functionality of the unit, but to give peace of mind to the customer the GM was going to offer the customer an extended 10 year warranty on the product free of charge. Since the customer hung up on the GM, they added this warranty to the ticket just in case the customer did call back.
The customer called the store back several hours later wanting to know when she would receive her refund. The store manager explained that we do not offer refunds, she got angry and hung up. The store manager then asked the GM to contact the customer again.
The GM contacted the customer and explained to her, that the back of the receipt clearly states that we do not accept returns, and that floor models are sold as is, with all sales final. We did give her the option of switching out the floor model for another identical floor model, and to order her a new base (but at the price of a new base, not floor model pricing)She yelled, used expletives, threatened to contact a lawyer and hung up.
The customer called the corporate offices and spoke to the DM, who offered switch out both products for new factory beds at the same price. She was willing to do this, but claimed that she found the same product elsewhere for a price [redacted] cheaper. Since Tempurpedic is MSRP this is not possible, however, she was told that if she brought in a receipt of this we would refund her the [redacted]
She did bring a quote in, that was not on any retailers letterhead, for the items she purchased, but at a price below cost, and wanting a refund of [redacted]
It was explained to her that we were not permitted to sell new product at a discount, especially not under what we pay for it. She decided that she wanted to have us order the new product and that she would wait for it to come in, at which time we will schedule an appointment for the exchange of the product.
