Complaint[redacted] Scam to get photo ID's with credit card information!!! I saw this dating site and thought I would join. I paid with my credit card and was sent a letter saying that I was using credit card fraud and that this [redacted] Customer service woman needed a copy of my drivers license and passport in order to verify my identity.That is completely INSANE. No one in their right mind would give a copy of their divers license or passport to a [redacted] on line in [redacted]!!!!!Please Advise!! To reactivate your account and confirm ownership of the card we require a photo of yourself with a HANDWRITTEN sign saying AFROROMANCE and the date. NOTE: The person in the photo must be holding the sign not have it typed over the top of the photo. This photo will be used only for our records and will not be placed on the site.We will also require a suitable photo id such as a passport or drivers license. This employee should NOT have the ability to ask people for their photo ID, Drivers License and Passport. This is private and personal information that will be used for scamming people!! She tries to sound [redacted] to fool people, but I have many friends who are [redacted], and they have a [redacted] accent too, as their English is the same. Fraud!!!Business Response To protect all our members and our site from credit card fraud we do at times request proof of ID from our members to verify that the credit card is actually theirs. When members create an account they are to enter their full name ( no one can see this except admin staff). What tends to happen is they then upgrade and enter the credit card information and the system detects that the name on the account and then name on the credit card do no match. Now due to the high level of internet fraud we do refund the credit card and lock down the account until we can verify the details.In regards to the staff member, she is an [redacted] citizen and is not a fraudster by any means. That is what we try and protect our members from.This site has been operating for over 10 years now and has never and never will be used to scam. We work very hard at keeping scammers off our site and the small number of employees we do have are all professional and have had background checks done. If you do not want to provide the proof of ID, that is fine, you do not have to if you are not comfortable, but please understand we do this only to protect our members yourself included.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)NONSENSE. Any company that asks you for a copy of your drivers license or passport is fraudulent. Especially if the purchase is only $20!! I spoke to my bank about this and they advised me NOT to associate with any company online that would do this. There is NO reason for them to ask for this information. I paid for a month subscription of 19.95, and there has been 4 more payments of 19.95 taken out of my checking account since then, without my permission. It was brought to my attention by my credit union You cannot speak with anyone at this company, and can only leave a message.I now have to close out my checking account because of this.I would like my monies back, for the last 5 months, but have no way of speaking with anyone at the company.Very frustrated and irritated with this online dating site!Account_Number: [redacted]Desired SettlementI would like 79.80 refunded back to my debit card, or a check for this amount, that would total the last 5 months of 19.95 taken from my checking account.Business Response Hi [redacted],When you subscribed to the monthly subscription it did specifically state you would be charged every 30 days unless cancelled prior. The auto renewal was still on and this is why you were being charged.As you have not used the site for the last 4 months we have refunded the last 4 recurring payments of $19.95 and they will post on your account in 5-7 working days. I have also cancelled the auto renewal so there will be no further charges.In regards to not being able to contact us we have 3 options available to our members. That being our phone support which is specific hours or you can contact us via the Live Chat option which is available 24/7 or there is the option to send an email to the Support team as well.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)They have responded and have done what is considered to be fair.

Over changing my password. They stated my New email was a fraud and requested me to send a Picture of my Drivers License or Passport. I refused.I signed up no problem. I forgot my password and this is what I got in return. In order to prove who I was that requested me to take a picture with my drivers license or passport. I have a copy of the email. I didn't even pay to be on this site. They never asked me anything and just suspended my account. I am a honorable US [redacted] Veteran. This is uncalled for. No other site ask for this information. Next they will get your credit card (if you sign up) and they could use your information to becomeyou. This isn't a bank. It's a dating site. Desired SettlementThis is beyond what a dating company should be able to do.Business Response Have already responded to this member via the site, that there was an error on her account and that she did not have to provide her proof of ID. The account was reactivated without this necessary documentation for the member to access the site.We do at times request proof of ID to verify our members and protect the site and other members from scammers. But as I have stated this member has not needed to do so.

I have been billed for a 3 month subscription of a dating site I no longer use.I haven't used this site in over a month, yet I had $39USD deducted from my [redacted] account on December 11th 2013. I did not authorise this payment. I contacted the company, and they told me that I am not eligible for a refund, even though they know my account has been deactivated for a while.Desired SettlementI would like to be issued with a refund of $39 USD, which is what they deducted from my [redacted] account. The website sucks. All of the men on the site are old as hell and the website looks like it's still in the 80s. I was denied my money back after using the site for one day. Do not waste the time and money. [redacted], [redacted], and even [redacted] is better.","neg-1
