To Whom it may concern,My name is John M [redacted] with interstate auto sales LLC I am responding to a complaint that you notified me of from [redacted] *** ***.I was contacted by [redacted] ’s boyfriend weeks after she purchased the vehicle from me For the record I have not spoken to [redacted] since the sale of the vehicle on 7/21/ [redacted] ’s boyfriend told me that he took the durango and had all the fluids checked and changed at Jiffy Lube I believe, and that the next day he drove it to Sisters, Orwhere he pulled into a grocery store and when he came out it wouldn’t start up again. He told me that it was making some pretty bad noises and that he thought something was seriously bad with it He asked if he could returnit to us and pick another car at which point I told him that the title work was already done and that it was in the bank’s name and his name I said thatthat would probably not be in the cards, but before he started thinking about trading it in he needed to find out what was wrong with it We spoke several times, and during one of the conversations he told me he had the Durango towed to a shop and he gave me their phone number.I called them and they told me based on what they are seeing that the story [redacted] ’s boyfriend told me was highly unlikely That it would not have just shut down normally (which is what [redacted] ’s boyfriend told me - even though that isn’t what he wrote to you) and then started back up with all these issues.Apparently the engine is going to need a rebuild which is expensive Regardless of whether I was told the truth or not I was willing to help out [redacted] , but I am not going to pay for their repair entirely That is what Warrantees are for and they did not purchase one But I did offer to help them get good prices on parts and excellent prices on labor so that they could get their car back on the road.I find it Interesting that the day before the breakdown they had it at Jiffy Lube getting “everything” done Seems coincidental that the day before the car broke down “everything" was done to it It makes me wonder if something was trying to be covered up or did Jiffy Lube screw the Durango up, or is it just a coincident?I find it interesting that [redacted] ’s boyfriend told me that Jiffy Lube said the vehicle was in great shape and was up on all fluid levels.I also find it interesting that even though I require all of my customers to sign an disclosure, making it VERY clear that the vehicle is AS-IS, and a Buyers Guide stating that the vehicle is NOT Warranteed, and a Purchase Order specifically stating that the vehicle is NOT warranted by the Dealer that when something goes wrong I am expected to pay for the repairs.I purchased the vehicle in Medford, Orwhich is almost exactly miles away and 4-hours drive We drove it home It ran extremely well and felt, and sounded as good as it ran[redacted] fell in love with it and found nothing wrong with it at the time of the sale I don’t know what happened to the Durango after it was purchased from me, but the bottom line is it was a used vehicle, it was sold as is, it had 185,miles on it - although you would never know it by its condition, and whether due to abuse, neglect, overheating, or just very bad luck after a little over weeks it broke down on [redacted] ’s boyfriend This isn’t the happy ending I hope for in any sale, but I never said that I would warrantee the vehicle I never charged them for a warrantee, I told the boyfriend the extent that I could help, but he insisted that I pay off the loan and get them into another car When I told him that I couldn’t he said that he was going to have the finance company investigate me, that he was going to file a complaint with the Revdex.com and that he was going to hire an attorney and sue me.At that point I just said “OK.”I understand that it sucks and I would have helped [redacted] with the repairs, to the extent I could, but when you purchase a car you are responsible for it, including insurance, maintenance, and repairs In addition one thing is certain All cars break down and need repairs at some point Unfortunately, I am not a fortune teller,or a Psychic and so I do not know when something is going to need a repair, and there were no indications that the Durango needed anything But I know from years of experience and feedback from my customers that some cars go for years without needing any repairs, and others for months, and sometimes things pop up sooner As vehicles rack up miles they become cheaper because it is more likely for a high mile car to need repairs than a low mile car They paid a very reasonable price foran excellent running SUV - I believe it was $ A new Durango with warrantee - leather, 3rd row seating like this one had is over $40k.I encourage my customers to have pre-purchase inspections done on the vehicles before they purchase them so that they feel more comfortable, or at least know if there is something visible that will need attention in the future I can’t remember whether [redacted] chose to do this or not.Anyway, thank you for reading my jumbled up recollection of the circumstances that led to this complaint.Jon M [redacted] Interstate Auto Sales, LLC

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:There are several lies to this statement.Number one John never advised us to get a pre-inspection Number two I find it odd that the mechanic made those statements to the dealership when I attached PROOF that says differently so obviously something doesn't add up there.Number three I got the service done at Jiffy Lube the same day the incident happened which just ONLY involved the AC being fixed and an oil change no statement was made by jiffy lube in regards of the motor because we did NOT ask.Number four John at the dealership never ONCE asked us if we wanted a warranty for the vehicle. My HUSBAND has been in contact with John only as I have been to hurt by this whole situation and my HUSBAND is much better at dealing with stressful situations then I am. I will once again attach the quote from the mechanic
Sincerely,
