Review: I contacted Interstate engineering in Feb of 2013.about doing a land survey.he did title search and part of survey. and ask for half of money up front. which was paid .he did partial survey and has not been back .this took place in April.I talked to him , he told me I was first on the list. this was months ago.I have talked to himseveral times and he has done nothing..he wont return my calls.I would like my money back or for him to finish the job.Desired Settlement: him to finish the work as promised or return my money.

Response:

Unfortunately, Mr. [redacted] does not understand the requirements in performing a professional land survey. I have performed field work, deed research, and drafting work that far exceed the amount of his initial deposit. It is sometimes difficult to render a professional opinion as to the correct, in my professional opinion, location of the boundary lines. No one can, or will, dictate to me my final decision regarding boundary analysis if I am uncomfortable with the final soluition. A simple request for a refund would have been sufficient to rectify his concerns. He also fails to acknowledge the time and effort spent in meeting with the Buchanan County Comminssioner of Revenue in an effort to solve his boundary issues without the expense of a full survey. Much of the research was necessary to allow me to conduct this meeting and answer the questions posed by the Commissioner of Revenue. In other words, I attempted to resolve Mr. [redacted]'s boundary issues in a manner that would vitiate the need for a land survey and save him a considerable amount of money. At this point in time my expenditures in time, money, and effort far exceed the amount of renumeration I have received. I will prepare a final invoice detailing these expenditures and make available to Mr. [redacted] the results of my work including deed copies, copies of the ASCII and raw survey files, and any other materials that might assist him in finalizing his survey. Of course I don't work free and expect to be paid for my services. Accordingly, I will refund any difference between the initial deposit and the cost for services rendered. I assume that Mr. [redacted] will be willing to pay the difference should the incurred costs be greater than his deposit.
