Interstate Plywood Co. Reviews (1)

I took my daughter to Interstate Plywood, along with my sub contractor to order kitchen cabinet doors for her existing cabinets. We waited approximately 15 minutes to be waited on. [redacted] waited on us. I explained our situation, that it was my first time to purchase from them, that we had 1970 cabinet doors that needed replacing. We selected the style and wood of the door and drawer panels. I had looked into ordering cabinet fronts online and opted to buy from a local source. I gave [redacted] my measurements for my openings of drawers and doors. I explained that the doors them selves were so old and warped that they could not give me accurate measurements. I discussed with him that a 1/2" overlay on each side of each drawer and door was what I wanted. He took my initial measurements and began to figure a price. I told him I would also need hinges and knobs. Plus the doors to be pre drilled for hinges. During his figuring, he was interrupted at least twice by a coworker and asked sever questions, distracting him. He then gave me a price based upon my measurements and our conversation of what I was asking for. He told me which hinge to buy based upon the type of door and overlay we were getting. We wrote a check in full for the amount of the cabinet door and drawer fronts, hinges and knobs. I told [redacted] that I would like for him to hold the order until I had a chance to double check my opening measurements and I would fax them over the following day. I did. When ready, my sub contractor picked up the order and primed and painted the door and drawer fronts. He took them to install. The cabinet fronts were made the size of the openings, not with the 1/2 inch overlay as discussed when placing our order. Thus making them unusable. After several conversations, I was told I could pay 50% of the order again and reorder. That is not acceptable. I expect my order to be made correctly at no further cost to me. This mistake was made by [redacted]. He failed to add the 1/2 " overlay to each side on the order.Product_Or_Service: Kitchen Wood Cabint door and drawer frontsDesired SettlementOptimally, I would like my order re-made as discussed and priced by my measurements WITH the 1/2 " overlay. If this is a reputable company, they will make the order right. I have been in retail furniture for over 30 years and made my fair share of mistakes. My customers did not pay for my mistakes, I did. That is the cost of doing business if you are reputable and value your customer and their business. In the very least, I expect a full refund.Business Response Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) [redacted] the associate DID NOT take an inordinate amount of time...in fact he was distracted by co workers numerous times during the process of trying to figure my quote which is probably the reason behind his mistake. The "Industry Standard How to Measure" was never given to me nor mentioned during the ordering process. I have since discovered that [redacted] also gave me the wrong hardware (hinges) and they had to be swapped out. From fabricating the cabinet doors the wrong size to delivering the wrong hinges that would not work. This entire order was botched. Interstate Plywood is not a reputable company, or they would take obvious responsibility for their mistake on a very small order and satisfy the customer ensuring their reputation in the industry. I am shocked at the owner's lack of integrity in this matter and his obvious lack of concern for doing business in an honest manner. Final Business Response Re: Custom cabinet doorsDear Ms. [redacted],Thank you for your patronage of our business. Although our operation is designed to serve serve professional cabinet makers and millwork houses on a whole sale basis, we do try to accommodate homeowners and casual buyers. The industry standard, and our policy, is for the buyer to furnish us with specific door sizes. This is very obvious, since we have no way of knowing the stile and rail size, or the customer preference for overlays. Some buyers actually use a different overlay on all four sides.I looked at the list of size you faxed in and its clearly show columns headed “Doors" and “Drawerfronts”.Our managers offer to reorder for you at 50% discount was very generous under the circumstances.I understand that you have already painted these doors, so a more conservative solution might be to install a ½ inch liner in three sides of the opening and paint over it.Thank you again for thing of us, and best of luck on your project.Sincerely yours,XXXXX X.
