As we planned on making wonderful memories with our family, that quickly came to a screeching halt. When we arrived at the house we had rented, to our dismay, the house was a complete pigsty and filthy. It appears to not have been cleaned between users nor has it been kept up with over the years. All the pictures online were inaccurate, misleading, and deceiving. It was interesting how quickly these pictures came down after all our pictures were sent to the owners, Howard and Maryse Selit.
Howard and Maryse Selit along with their property manager, Crystal Clement, from Intuitive Trading Systems, LLC, were nothing but rude, arrogant, and demeaning when we called to explain the condition of the home. The listing stated that the house was newly renovated. When in reality, the only part of the house that was renovated was the kitchen and one bathroom in which the shower did not even work. The plumber had come three times to fix the shower, which he could not even fix. The “newly renovated” kitchen had fly traps dangling from all three island lights that were filled with dead flies. All the mattresses were wrapped in plastic instead of proper mattress covers and were not cleaned properly. Back of the beds were filled with dust and spider webs. One of the beds was missing a wood support beam under the bed making it unusable due to the risk of falling off the slant the bed was on; not to mention the discomfort!
There was sand all over the floors when we walked into the house and the bathrooms were dirty. Nothing was cleaned until after arrival and our unhappiness over the filth. A gentleman arrived to clean as we were told we could stay or leave, but they would not refund our money. All of these issues took up much of our time instead of enjoying our family time.
The private beach was not swimmable nor was it clean. There were horseshoe crabs all over the beach along with snails and jellyfish. In addition, the water was dirty making the beach pointless as well. The kayaks meant for the ocean were impossible to get out from under the house with Cacti around the sand and the chain holding them. They should have been easily accessible and hung up properly. As well, the life jackets were disgusting and molded. The private swimming pool and the ladder to go in and out of the pool was broken and hazardous, being held on with zip ties. The fences surrounding the pool were loose and extremely dangerous for the children in my family. In the end, we were forced to vacate because the pool collapsed in the middle of the night. Our saving grace that none of our family members were in the pool. Much of the outdoor furniture was broken and filthy. We could only sit anywhere with towels on top of couches inside the house as well as putting towels over the cushions and chairs outside as we were grossed out.
Lastly, we were responsible for taking the garbage pails out to the street for curbside pickup. When we arrived the garbage pails that were fenced in towards the back of the driveway had garbage cans half full; the cans did not close properly; they too were filthy, with bugs and flies surrounding them.
The only good thing in the house was the handyman, Rey Velez. Who they sent to service pool and clean during the week.
Overall, a very disappointing week and very expensive - we did not get what we paid for!

Review: Apparently this LLC is a holding company for rental property transactions located in various locations. My family rented a beach house in Cape May, NJ in August of 2014 mailing the lease and all financial transactions to this company. Included was a security deposit of $1000. A month after our vacation I received a call from the [redacted] saying my security deposit would not be returned due to a linen fee of $150 being charged (which had been waived by the [redacted] and noted in the lease) and for undocumented damages to the sprinkler system on the property. During our stay there was an issue with the sprinkler system in that when it was timer activated there was very restricted water pressure in the house. We contacted the [redacted] who then referred us to the maintenance man who gave us instructions on how to turn off the sprinkler system. We followed those instructions specifically and documented them by email and voice mail. The [redacted] would not provide me with any documentation as to how our actions caused any additional damages to the sprinkler system or how having the sprinkler system turned off for 4 days caused any damage to the vegetation on the property.Desired Settlement: I would like my security deposit of $1000 returned.
