[redacted] dropped her vehicle off after hours on a Sunday when we were closed. We found her keys on the floor of the shop below the key drop at 8:00am Monday morning. There was no name or phone number attached to the keys. We knew the vehicle was coming in for a check engine light issue, we scanned...

the check engine light and diagnosed it was something that had to go to the dealership for repair. We received a phone call in the afternoon asking if we had looked at the vehicle yet, at that time we told the individual on the phone that it was something that needed to go to the dealership for repairs. It was at this point that the man on the phone mentioned that the vehicle had disappeared in the middle of the night. We immediately called the police (because for some reason beyond comprehension the [redacted]'s DID NOT call the police when they noticed their vehicle had disappeared in the middle of the night) and reported the situation. The man would not tell us why he didn't call the police in the middle of the night after he noticed it missing, or why he didn't call in the morning or call the police at all. He immediately started accusing my staff of stealing his vehicle and returning it. However no one was here or knew the car had been dropped off until Monday morning since we were closed when they dropped it off. I personally walked around the vehicle with [redacted] when she came down to the shop and asked her about damage to the vehicle and she said to myself and the officer taking the report that there was NO NEW DAMAGE to the vehicle aside from the license plate and frame. We let her know that nothing like this has happened at this location before and we were more than willing to help in anyway possible. The [redacted]'s never contacted us again and immediately attacked us on social media and review boards across the internet.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2015/08/19) */
Mr. [redacted] came to AutoWorks on July 23rd stating that his Jaguar was leaking coolant, upon initial inspection the thermostat housing was cracked and his serpentine belt needed replaced. He approved the thermostat housing but wanted to wait on...

the serpentine belt replacement due to financial issues. Since the cooling system is pressurized, the remaining parts of the system cannot be tested until the repair was performed because coolant follows the path of least resistance. He brought the vehicle back to Autoworks on August 8th stating that he had another coolant leak and his check engine light was on, upon inspection it was evident that his water pump was leaking and needed replaced. He approved the water pump replacement but asked if we could offer him any kind of discount, we obliged and took fifty dollars off of his total bill. While the work was being performed to his vehicle the mechanic noticed that his plastic intake tube was broken and causing his check engine light to illuminate and needed replaced. Since Mr. [redacted] had already established that money was tight at the moment and couldn't afford any additional repairs, the mechanic offered to repair the piece at no additional charge to the customer using a high strength plastic adhesive. The remaining work to the vehicle was performed and Mr. [redacted] was notified that his vehicle was ready. When Mr. [redacted] picked up his vehicle he noticed the repair to the intake tube and was explained that it was broken upon arrival but we were able to repair it and shut the engine light off at no additional cost. While explaining this to Mr. [redacted] an unknown female began screaming that the manager on duty was smirking at them and stated that she was going to come back and "burn the building down", upon hearing this threat and others the manager called the police to mediate the confrontation. Mr. [redacted] and the female became more enraged and were screaming that we had "...called the white police to come and shoot them..." at this point it was evident that no resolution was within reach and they were ignored by all staff members until the police escorted them off of the premises with no police report being filed.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 9, 2015/08/30) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Fact: I did not give permission for these mechanics to put any form of temporary fix to my jaguar,. Fact ; I took my jaguar for repairs and I was told something was wrong every time I went until these guys eventually destroyed my car. Fact: there was a police report filed because I wanted it on record that these guys messed up my car. Fact : I have attached paperwork stating the part they say was broken on my car when it arrived at their place of business was put on my car brand new not even 8 months ago. Fact : my fiancée never threatened any damage to these guys place of business. If so she would of been placed under arrest which she wasn't. Fact these guys never escorted me to my vehicle when I came to pick it up, I paid my money and was told my car was parked wayyy across the lot which is why I was suspicious so I looked under the hood and noticed the broken part and the quick fix. I asked the officer to make these guys give paperwork showing they had attempted to cover up damage they did by using an adhesive. They gave the paper which is attached to the officer who gave it to me. Fact; there is a trust issue now I never want these guys to work on my car I want compensation for their terrible mechanic work and practices. Fact ; the hose was not broken on my car when it arrived at autoworks. Fact; I was told that for a shop to place a temporary adhesive or any form of quick fix to a vehicle was illegal because the shop could not warranty it if the part broke and damaged the car further. Fact: the part that these mechanics quick fixed has broken already. Fact; I deserve compensation from this shop. The officer assured me there would be a report filed and in the officers opinion the mechanic broke the part when trying to get to my water pump that I paid to have replaced. I've attached pictures of the entire housing unit that was replaced by Stevenson imports. The officers card and case number. Pictures of my vehicle. The printout stating that this company chose to quick fix my car without my permission. Fact; my check engine light wasn't on when I took my car to this shop.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2015/09/15) */
Mr. [redacted] response is nothing more than his original complaint sprinkled with the word "Fact" preceding biased and unconfirmed accusation based sentences. I refer to our original rebuttal regarding all concerns associated with the incident in question. Any further harassment from Mr. [redacted] will be addressed by AutoWorks's legal counsel.
