If I could give them no stars I would, but, then you might think I forgot to answer the satisfaction rating. We have been waiting since october 22, 2018 for medical records to be copied for release to the insurance company for our client to get approval for their life insurance. This is a ridiculous amount of time to wait. And when we inquire, all we are told is that is it in process. That's a tremendous amount of processing for what would be just standard medical records. Yet, there is no one to go to, to expedite this process. Terrible service...I would not use this company.

The reason there are two invoices as our company received two separate requests for medical records for the same patient, each request was sent to a different fax number. One request (invoice [redacted] for $103.96) was for medical records from one facility location which was 84 pages. The other...

request (invoice 38908738 for $324.88) was for medical records from two facility locations which was 347 pages. Invoice [redacted] for $103.96 has been paid by the customer. Invoice 38908738 for $324.88 has not been paid by the customer, and they are correct, they have not downloaded the records. We can adjust invoice 38908738 amount down to $35.00, as they did send in two different requests and the work was done to pull and provide those records. Please let us know if this is acceptable. Thank you.

The reason the patient was charged for records is that he marked the records were for personal use on the authorization vs stating the records were for the VA. No payment has been received for these records in the amount of $[redacted], therefore there is no monies to refund at this time. As a courtesy...

we will adjust the invoice to a zero balance therefore no payment for the records he received is required. Please let me know if we can be of any further assistance. Thank you.

This response is for Compaint ID [redacted]We apologize for the delay in releasing the medical records for Ms. [redacted].  The records should now be available via the patient portal which Ms. [redacted] registered for to have the capability to download these records. In most cases...

records are processed within 30 days however in this instance the chart was located offsite and had to be ordered which resulted in a delay.        The records were relased at no charge. Please let me know if anything further is needed. Thank you. [redacted]IOD Incorporated               .

I requested my records at the suggestion of my doctor. I had requested all the options but only received a small portion of the records I wanted, along with being charged for the records! I have never had to pay for my medical records that I have gotten online! If I had gotten them sent to me via mail on paper I might understand shipping costs, but I was not told that I would get charged and now, my requests for the rest of my records keeps getting cancelled without any email alert or anything -- thus leaving me waiting for records that won't even get sent!

Easily one of the worst ways to get records.

Review: I requested my medical records on March 1st 2016 at my doctors office at [redacted] I got my records on March 19th 2016 along with a bill for $[redacted] I have never been charged for my records nobody at the doctor's office told me that there would be a charge nor was there a sign say such. I needed these records for the VA so I could send them register mail so I know the VA got them so I would have a paper trail showing that the VA got them and was never charged before.Desired Settlement: Refund my $[redacted] seeings how I was never charged for my records nor was there any mention of a charge at the doctor's office nor were there any signs say there would be a charge. The address is IOD INC [redacted]

Review: I requested medical information for a client, I am an independent agent of Aflac, from the hospital in Salem, OR. I did not received any notification prior or after my request that my request would be sent to an outside firm for processing. There was no invoice or notification prior to them sending me the infromation that I would be charged a fee for this paperwork. I called and told them I was not notified and that I do not pay for records. I was told that because I requested, I have to pay and they will go forward in collecting the fee. The fee was a basic fee of $30.00 with a $5.00 bonus fee and postage of $.87page (4 pages) total due $35.87. I stated that I would return the paperwork so I would not be responsible for the fee, as I do not pay for fees. That was unacceptable to them. I also told them had they let me know ahead of sending the paperwork I would have told them I do not pay the fees and would have asked them not to send me the paperwork. Other companies who do similar work always send a bill first and if you refuse to pay they do not send the paperwork, that is the standard practice. Prior notification of fees is the only acceptable practice for this type of document dispersement company.Desired Settlement: I should not be responsible to pay the $35.87 fee they are billing. That fee should be written off by the company and my account marked as $0 balance.

Response:

We have received the Complaint ID [redacted] and our position on the matter is below.

AFLAC was billed in accordance with the state law for Oregon Medical Board statute 847-012-0000 Patients Access to Medical Records, which states a reasonable fee may be imposed for complying with requests of medical records. Therefore the fee that was charged was accurate.

It is not our practice to send a bill prior to providing the records unless specifically requested to do so in the records request paperwork that is provided.

Please let me know if any further information or action is needed. Thank you.

I submitted requests for 3 children and they only sent me payment request for 2. TRIED to call for 2 weeks and kept getting answering machines (main 1 said to leave a message and then said goodbye)Get a call back today and they still have the request wrong and was told I would most likely have to cancel and RESUBMIT. I was told I would have the paperwork IN HAND with in 2-3 weeks and it is now close to 6 weeks and still NOTHING. They are a pain in the [redacted] to deal with. I am not looking forward to having to deal with them more. But alas I have to in order to get the info I need. I am very unhappy and would prefer to never deal with them again

In March 2014, I made a HIPPA authorized request for client's emergency room records (I provided the date of loss with request). I received the records with an invoice charging an extra $8.00 for searching 8 years of records ($1.00 per year). I removed the $7.00 charge for the 7 "extra years" they researched and paid the balance of the invoice. IOD continues to invoice me a "past due" amount of $7.42 ($7 extra search fee + associated taxes). IOD is unfairly padding their bills with these extra "search" fees and it is unfair to our clients.

Review: I have requested medical records for my son, this has been in the process for too long. People have the right to their medical records and should not have to wait a month or more to access their records. This is hurting my sons chances on having a desired corder in the military. This is unfair and unjust. He has a right to receive records in a speedy fashion! One to two months is too long!!!Desired Settlement: I need these records now. Not two months from now. We have waited long enough

They are by far the most expensive medical records provider I have ever encountered and it is my job to deal with these companies. They cost more than 4x the price of the average records providers. When I recently got a ridiculously high bill, they over charged me by more than $28 and when I called to complain they admitted the mistake was theirs but refused to adjust the price. They are corporate drones concerned only with the extortion of people when they are vulnerable in desperate need of their important medical records.
