IQ = I QUIT
3 yrs to rebuild a tiny house, never finished. I wasn't happy with construction and quality. I wish I had never met the man.

Review: My father, [redacted] of [redacted], Toms River, NJ 08755 contracted with Mr [redacted] of Allhouse Cabinets of [redacted], Keyport, NJ 07735 License No [redacted] for a deck at his residence on May 9, 2013 for $10,000. The agreement was that Mr [redacted] was to submit the permit request. As he was unable to do so in a timely fashion, my father submitted it for him. The deck plan provided by Mr [redacted] failed the first plan review on May 26, 2013 due to lack of adequate detail. A second deck plan provided by Mr [redacted] failed again on June 26 2013 as being unreadable per the inspector and still missing many details. My father was able to redo the plan and provide the details securing the permit on July 10, 2013 (Toms River Construction Permit [redacted])Construction started on July 10, 2013 and Mr [redacted] immediately began to badger my father for additional money. He first argued that the steps he had agreed to remove were more difficult than planned and asked to trade off not providing a permanent gas line for my fathers grill, in the original scope of the job, for this extra difficulty. My father reluctantly agreed. Mr [redacted] then asked for $500 extra to remove a small slab patio, also in the original scope of the job, to which my father after a argument - reluctantly agreed.The deck was finished on August 20, 2013 after a delay waiting for the railings to be fabricated and installed.My father paid Mr [redacted] $2,500 on July 18, 2013 (Check #[redacted]), $6,000 on July 20, 2013 (Check #[redacted]4) and the final $2,000 on August 20, 2013 (Check #[redacted]). Mr [redacted] demanded an additional $1,500 at that time stating that the concrete removal was more than expected. My father refused. Mr [redacted] left angrily and returned that evening to demand the $1,500 again and also an additional $600 for his time. My father again refused citing their original contract scope. Mr [redacted] again grew agitated. My father again refused and had to ask Mr [redacted] to leave his home. He did so after insulting my father and wishing him bad luck. The deck failed the final inspection on August 27, 2013 due to the railings being improperly supported. My father contacted Mr [redacted] who installed several cheap and inadequate brackets on September 1, 2013. One of the brackets was so poorly installed that the railing is now crooked and leaning. The workmanship overall on the deck is very poor. My father has had to call in another contractor who has estimated the costs to fix the railings at $850. Mr [redacted],s dealing with my father have grown progressively more antagonistic and heated that my father is too uncomfortable having him on his property to repair the problems and I agree.My father would like to have Mr [redacted] refund the $850 my father is going to have to spend to repair Mr [redacted]s poor workmanship.Desired Settlement: My father would like to have Mr [redacted] refund the $850 my father is going to have to spend to repair Mr [redacted]s poor workmanship.
