Review: RE: Model [redacted], Serial [redacted]

It has now been 2 years and my unit is still not repaired. Here I am once again getting ready to go into another summer with my A/C not working. I am begging for some assistance, reimbursement or something. I am single, live alone and live pay check to pay check. I have cried, spent sleepless nights and had to obtain loans (with high interest) to keep up these "repairs" that are not repairing the problem. Please help me I’m begging you!! I cannot afford to keep this up. Now I have to find someone AGAIN to come repair this again with more and more labor charges.

I feel Iron Bridge never found the true problem, and was just replacing warranty parts in the hopes that it would fix this apparent slow leak that I have always had in my unit since 2013. They have been to my house 5 (FIVE) times to repair my heat pump. Now my warranty is up!!! I am lost!! What do I do? I feel as if I am a victim here. To date, I have spent $1,392 to repair this unit and still more charges to come! Please please help me.Desired Settlement: I just want my heat pump leak REPAIRED, not put a band aid on it and fill it with freon so it will last for 2-3 more months. I have been dealing with this now for 2 years. I think that has been long enough.

Response:

I am very sorry to hear Ms. [redacted] is having a problem with her heat pump. Our first visit to her property was on 4-16-13. We found the indoor piston restricted not allowing proper refrigerant flow. We cleared the restriction and advised the customer it was most likely due to a poor installation. On 4-20-13 we returned to do a spring cleaning. System was working customer had no known complaints. On 7-29-13 customer called with no AC. We found her unit was low on refrigerant. After a leak search we found the outdoor coil leaking. We advised the customer, she gave authorization to replace coil on 8-20-13 The coil, the refrigerant liquid filter and a vacuum leak test was done. All test ok on 8-26-13. A fall service cleaning was also done. On 3-11-14 customer called no heat. We found the reversing valve stuck in the cooling mode. We tried at an oil additive (supco88) at no charge. We could not free stuck valve. We replaced the valve. On 6-19-14 customer call no AC. We replaced the indoor piston at no charge. I feel badly that Ms. [redacted] has had more then her share of equipment failures. I do not feel we are responsible for any of them. We did not install her system. We do not recommend the brand of equipment she purchased from another unknown contractor. None of the repairs were call backs or return call for the same problem. We can only warranty repairs we have made. We have not heard from Ms. [redacted] since 6-19-14. So this is a complete surprise to me.

Response:

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Iron Bridge states that their was a different reason each time they came out. It was the same reason. The unit was freezing up each time. They added freon in each time, and it worked again for a couple more months. They have made 5 trips to my home in attempts to repair my unit. They replaced parts under warranty and made a good deal of money for labor charges, but replacing these parts did not fix the unit. I do not believe that it is coincidence that every couple months it is something different. I have spoken with many people now and feel assured that Iron Bridge never repaired the actual leak and that the slow leak has been continuous without repair. Replacing parts and filling it with freon ...of course the freon ran out after a couple months and I was back to the same problem again. Just as I am again this spring. Freezing up. The SAME problem I have had the last 5 visits from Iron Bridge that is still not repaired. It is easy to point the finger at someone else or say someone elses product is not a good product., but the fact remains is after 5 visits, one would think a liscensed company would be able to locate this leak and repair it., instead of replacing warranty parts in the hopes that fixed the problem. I am not a HVAC person, but my common sense tells me there is a red flad when someone is coming out this many times to repair a unit that is freezing up every couple of months. I did not notify them this spring because after 5 visits to my home and it still not repaired, I no longer trust them to be honest. I have had several opinions now and told by all that the leak has probably been there for a long time and they did not detect it. The leak was found in the indoor air handler coil where Iron Bridge did little or no research to find it. Now I am having to pay a large amount of labor again to get the actual leak repaired which Iron Bridge should have done in the first place. Regards,[redacted]
